Mages exploration 27

The Group of mages shuffled along the corridor until they entered the first floor, Merlin gasped when he viewed the first floor, there was a dense jungle right under the earth's surface. The mages began to debate the meaning of this, quickly coming to the conclusion that this dungeon is in the anomalous classification, Merlin listened to his colleague's discussions but didn't add any input to the conversation himself, he only became more solemn and continued with renewed wariness.

They continued unobstructed through the first floor with any wildlife posing no threat to the veteran mages. After finding a large obsidian door the party stopped to study it, The group concluded that there was a portal behind the door, it was trapped, the dungeon core was most likely behind that door and some unlucky fool tried to open it, judging by the blood spatters and bone shards scattered over the area.

Merlin simply looked at the door in quiet contemplation for a short period, then nodded his head several times before telling the party "The dungeon core is most likely behind this door estimating by the mana flow, so let's continue on through the floors to gauge the reaction of the dungeon". One of the group members asked, "we are not here to take the core?", the confusion apparent in his aged voice. Merlin replied "no we are here to judge if this dungeon is safe for adventures to come here and seek wealth, not cause it to go crazy and attack human civilization but, if it does we are here to destroy it", he spoke in a strangely loud voice than necessary causing the others to raise their eyebrows at that and the overly explicit speech, although most of the group seemed to think that it was for his students benefit, so they thought nothing of his strangeness and continued deeper into the dungeon.

Several of the guild members were alchemists causing progress to slow down somewhat, exclamations were heard from these members every now and then after finding something rare or valuable, one such member remarked "Maybe I should go back into the field more often you can never find ingredients as good as this, and even if you do some scruffy adventurer damages the thing to near uselessness.". The others just looked on smiling wryly, knowing they don't have to deal with such things in their fields of study.

Merlin fought the first boss alone, the giant boar charged at him only for Merlin to simply wave his sleeve and the boar turned into a fine red mist. Several members rebutted that it was overkill jokingly.

Meanwhile, Lucifer watched the group intently, watching for any signs of hostility, Lucifer jumped when the man spoke about taking his core, before he could raise his defenses the boss of the group spoke strangely specific about why they were here, then Lucifer relaxed a little and immediately became more suspicious of the old man.

He watched the group progress unhindered in his dungeon which irritated Lucifer, he thought "I may have designed the first floors to be safe but that doesn't mean you should strut around it without dying a little or something, if one of you old farts slips on some moss and breaks his hip I will be satisfied"

The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

They continued through the first floor and looked confused when they passed the second without fighting a boss, then continued on through the third. Panthers hiding in the bushes tried ambushing the group several times but the barriers they put up repelled the beasts every single time, then they would be incinerated, or frozen and even shocked to death.

An alchemist who was keenly looking for rare plants spotted a soft red glow behind a brush. He moved aside the plant and jumped up swearing in several tongues with glee, the other surprised that he could still move so fast watched him leave the barrier before anyone could tell him to stop. he babbled something about a new type of magical plant while he scrambled to get closer to his new discovery.

The other mages simply rolled their eyes at this eccentric old man and started securing the area. Just as they were casting a new barrier to include the area the plant was, an enormous shadow loomed over the man not paying attention.

One of the flame specialists was the first to see the creature, it was several meters tall with the legs of a man, the torso was covered in fur, horns produced from its skull. It lifted its arms and the mage saw that it held a great axe large than himself, he hastily chanted a spell and threw a firebolt at the beast.

The man finally noticed his folly when he was the axe descending, before the axe could fall the beast was struck by several powerful spells blinding the man temporarily, but instead of the beast being blown apart like it should have it simply faded out of existence.

Sooner than anyone could comprehend what happened the bush next to the ingredient exploded with a shadow moving through it, with the mages having just finished their spells they could not cast again so soon. Dark claws met flesh, throwing blood everywhere, the man screams were cut short by the fangs tearing out his jugular.

Merlin again waved his sleeve this time without the dullness of the past and the large cat was flung across the dungeon floor, after several seconds a sickening splat was heard as it hit the cave wall.

Merlin was now furious and his gaze shot straight up into a seemingly random empty location and narrowed his brows. His eyes flashed emerald and a wave was released from his eyes.

When the wave passed the space he was watching a tiny woman with butterfly wings appeared, after being found she said "teehee I have places to be, sorry for not keeping you company", before fluttering away. Seeing this Merlin cast a spell and a hand appeared in the air, with another wave of his hands the floating hand stretched impossibly far, before Little Lucky could dodge she was already grasped, she tried to use some of her abilities to escape to no avail.

Once she was held by Merlin she pulled a token out of nowhere and cutely said "ok you pass with this you can get past the second-floor congratulations hehe", someone rebutted "this is the THIRD floor we already passed the second floor you incompetent floor guardian". She replied while looking surprised "OH MY how did you do that the door was closed", the same man harshly spoke back "then you left it open".  She replied sheepishly "oh no I guess I have to go close it then" while she vainly tried to struggle out of Marlin's grip. Before he could scold her more Merlin's student suddenly spoke up "there was no second-floor door" leaving everyone speechless, while the fairy pretended to look exaggeratedly shocked.

Merlin finally had enough and called for everyone to suddenly leave this dungeon without giving any reason, confusing most people.

Lucifer watched them release Little Lucky adding validity to the name and leave the dungeon. He asked Selenia what she thought of things but she didn't know either.
