Chapter 55

Amy decided to wait a bit and go over what the hydrius salamanders had brought with them when they hastily rushed back to escape the storm. Though only three groups brought back something, the most important one was the one that Carter, the archeologist, brought back.

It was a small flat, rectangular-looking stone with indents on the rock. When she took a closer look at the stone, she realized that the indents were not indents but carvings. This made her very excited. It meant that the archeological salamander group was closer to finding or had already re-found the source, which caused Carter to gain his title. Amy pulled up its description to truly find out if this was what she was looking for.

A Graffitied Piece of Defence Wall

An ancient small piece of limestone was used to protect a small island kingdom that was destroyed millions of years ago. This piece of stone has carved writing in it that was made by the workers to tag what they did.

While the description did not tell her what the main archeological find was, what the small island kingdom was in history, or what happened to that kingdom, it did tell her she was on the right track.

Amy also found it really cool that the piece of limestone had graffiti on it from whoever built the wall millions of years ago.

With that piece of excitement pulled up, she also pulled up the descriptions of the other things that were brought back by the different groups of salamanders.

Damaged Pocket Watch

An intricately designed time-keeping device that is missing gears and almost completely rusted over.

Fulgurite

Often called fossilized lighting, this is a type of glass formed by lightning striking sand. Occasionally strings of lightning mana are encased within the glass pieces.

The pocket watch was fine, but the fulgurite was the most interesting out of the two. She would definitely need to take a closer look at it later to see if lightning mana is encased in her piece of fulgurite.

As Amy looked over the new things that were hastily brought to her before the storm, the iceberg and her territory sat in an area that was supposed to be very dangerous. When nothing that she considered or sensed was dangerous appeared during the time that she was anchored, Amy opened the two tunnel entrances to her portal room.

The thing was that she noticed when she opened up these entrances, there was a stronger sense of her mana that came directly from her core releasing more into her territory.

Within about 20 minutes of opening the entrances to the tunnels, Amy sensed something coming up from the trench, right outside where her territory ended.

It stilled for a minute outside her territory before it rushed into her territory.

As soon as the being rushed into her territory, Amy knew that this monster was wrong and should not make it to her core. It felt rabid in a sense like if she was human, confronted by a rabid dog, something very deadly.

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

She had never felt this with all of the previous invading monsters, which made her scared of what it could do. When she got a better look at what the monster was, it surprised her.

The being looked like an experiment gone wrong. It looked like it was initially a crab, but whatever happened to it made its cells and growth go wild. The crab had many spikes and twisting in all directions. Its legs were a lot larger and longer than the body. The monster's eyes were completely black, and it had a madness to them that made Amy feel like she was staring into the eyes of a rabid animal.

The scariest thing about the creature was the scythe-like claws, the mouth filled with dagger-like teeth, and it moved fast.

With a series of jumps, the feral crab monster reached her iceberg and just made it through the underwater entrance tunnel.

Rushing madly to her portal, the monster did not appear to take anything in, but its number one goal was to make it through the portal.

As soon as it entered through the portal, the already manic monster started to go truly mad and rabid. It began to slash, eat, and destroy everything in its path. And it was making a beeline to her core.

The rabid monster did not stray from its path. It was like it knew where her core was, and it truly scared her. What if it got through all of her floors? What would it do to her?

As Amy watched the rabid monster destroy everything in its wake, she sounded the alarm for all the monsters on the floor. The alarm set them on high alert and got them to rush at the monster.

Augments, archers, and penumbras quickly started attacking it within one of the kelp forests. The augment penguins took the front lines of attacking. At the same time, the archers were in the back firring their arrows, and the penumbra penguins were sneaking through the shadows attacking it.

Within minutes, a penumbra penguin landed a lucky shot and pierced the soft shell of its belly as it jumped. The penguin was able to luckily get the correct angle in and was able to pierce an important organ. As soon as the organ was hit, the crab monster started shaking, and glowing black lines started growing around the monster that originated from the piercing wound.

As the glowing black lines grew along its body, the monster started making extremely pained screeches. With something unknown happening to this invading monster, Amy pulled back her monsters far enough so that whatever was happening would not affect them.

The glowing black lines quickly covered the monster and the light started pulsing. Then, the pulsing light of the glowing black lines started to pulse faster and faster before a wave of charcoal-coloured mana exploded from the monster. As soon as the mana explosion happened, the crab monster gave one last screech before it went still.

Amy knew that the feral crab monster was dead when it stopped moving as the mana from its death flowed into the new floor mana collection part of her core. The mana that was given from the monster's death was enough that if three adventurers died, they would give her about the same amount of mana.

While the death of the feral crab monster was good, the most interesting thing was the charcoal mana explosion that was released into her dungeon.

Most of the charcoal mana dissipated as soon as it exploded from the monster. Still, there was some left circulating in the water. Just as Amy was about to examine the strands of charcoal mana, she noticed some of them moving away.

She watched one of those strands of mana sneak off from the group and make its way to the bottom of the ocean. It seemed to swim through all of the icey kelp before stopping at one and entering the plant at the base.

This was very surprising for Amy. She has seen different types of mana before, but they weren't as active nor would they actively seek out a living being to enter.

To get a sense of what she was dealing with, Amy went back to the rest of the charcoal mana, though she made sure to keep an eye on the kelp with the foreign mana.

She stared at the circulating mana and decided to try to see if she could pull up the description of what type of mana was released.
