Chapter 2

Amy threaded the mana farther and farther away from her core. Each centimetre away she got, the more difficult it was to move. She found it strange that she was able to know the specific amount of how far she reached with her mana thread. But at this point, Amy just ignored the abnormalities that kept popping up that were irrelevant.

She got 15 centimetres away from her original room before something even stranger happened. A blue screen look-alike popped up and glowed above her core.

Choose your dungeon affinity

It was flashing above her core. There wasn’t a blue screen background but just text that could clearly be seen. This confused Amy greatly. She tested and tried activating any blue screen or helper that she could think of. But here is something similar that is telling her to choose a dungeon type, though there were no types to choose from.

Suddenly, the words started to lightly flash, kind of like if you had a new email. So, Amy reached out and clicked it. As soon as she clicked it, a randomly organized list that would give anybody looking at it a headache appeared.

-water affinity

-crafting affinity

-shadow affinity

-plant affinity

-air affinity

Amy scrolled through the list, looking at the randomly laid-out list of affinities. Some of them were just plain weird. Like an alchemy affinity or mental affinity, so she clicked on a random one, a fire-type affinity.

Hellfire Affinity

-a type of fire affinity that burns hotter than most fire affinities, as well as closely connected to demonic or related demonic beings or species

-anything absorbed into the dungeon has a chance of gaining, evolving, or adapting into having a hellfire affinity or ability

-dungeon will naturally start to produce or create living/objects that will have a hellfire affinity or effect

‘Huh,’ thought Amy, ‘well, that clearly limits my choices.’ As soon as she saw the notes that came with the affinities, she knew that she had to choose well. To confirm what she anticipated, she selected another random affinity to compare.

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.

Weather Affinity

-a combination of air and water affinities that focuses on the many different types of weather formations found on Terra

-anything absorbed into the dungeon has a chance of gaining, evolving, or adapting into having a weather affinity or ability

-dungeon will naturally start to produce or create living/objects that will have a weather affinity or effect

Seeing that every affinity would have the application of the last two notations, Amy knew that she had to be careful about what she would choose. As any choice could significantly affect and or limit what she could do in the future.

‘Well, one of the good things that came out of this is that I finally know what this world is called.’ Thought Amy as she noticed that Terra was referenced on both affinity sheets. With that revelation done, she went back to choosing her affinity.

Amy decided that she would note what she thought was good and would use her instincts to help narrow them down.

~ One Hour Later ~

Amy had looked through each of the options, only clicking on ones that she instinctively felt that she should look at and what she thought would be the best affinity for her. She scrolled through the whole list hand-picked out as well as narrow down the potential affinities to just a couple. There was an ice affinity, temperature affinity, creation affinity, cold world affinity, and adaptation affinity.

After some more thought, Amy eliminated the ice affinity as well as the cold world affinity. They were both well suited for the place that she currently resided within in her room, but she had no knowledge of the outside world. So, they were crossed off her list. This led to her staring intently at the temperature affinity, creation affinity, and adaptation affinity screens.

Temperature affinity

-a unique affinity in the form of being able to connect, create, and use both scales of extremes of hot, cold, and in between

-anything absorbed into the dungeon has a chance of gaining, evolving, or adapting into having a temperature affinity or ability

-dungeon will naturally start to produce or create living/objects that will have a temperature affinity or effect

Creation affinity

-the ability in which the holder has an increased chance of creating new or already in existence lifeforms, objects, etc.

-anything absorbed into the dungeon has a chance of gaining, evolving, or adapting into having a creation affinity or ability

-dungeon will naturally start to produce or create living/objects that will have a creation affinity or effect

Adaptation affinity

-an unique trait that allows anything to be able to adapt naturally or forcibly to anything more quickly and easily; it can also give a chance for random adaptations

-anything absorbed into the dungeon has a chance of gaining, evolving, or adapting into having an adaptation affinity or ability

-dungeon will naturally start to produce or create living/objects that will have an adaptation affinity or effect

Amy compared her three final choices. The temperature affinity gave her an affinity with all ends of the heat and cold spectrum. The creation affinity was more suitable for craftsmen or the like. And that led to the adaptation affinity. A sparse description was given, but it was clear cut that adapting anything within her dungeon at a later time would be easier with this affinity. Amy also took it as she could probably take a creature and place it in an opposite type of environment than what it would have lived in. Then, it would either adapt to another thing or adapt to live within the new environment.

With that, Amy decided that the adaptation affinity would be her best bet and give more options than the other choices.

With her decision made, Amy reached out and selected the adaptation affinity sheet again. When she did that, a confirmation button appeared, and she chose that too. As soon as her finger left the confirmation button, Amy passed out instantly. Like a flick of a light switch, everything went black.
