CH 45 - Lunch Gathering with Cymberly and Me (and Cheyanne and Cayleen)

At lunch, in the cafeteria, me and Cymberly are sitting down on a table facing each other while eating our bagged lunches. It was a few minutes into our lunch time, or what the school called it, “Lunch Activity Period” or “LAP”. Our best friend Cinnamon is still in in-school-suspension. So it’s just me and Cymberly….at least for more than a minute.

For the last few minutes, we have been talking about the exact same scene that I witness this morning back at my home.

“So evil creatures came towards your house,” Cymberly said to me.

I nodded as I took yet another bite of my sandwich.

“Out of the blue?” Cymberly asked.

“Well Aunt Catherine was fighting a monster while me and my mom were eating breakfast,” I said. “And then after I got dressed and got out, my aunt just crashed back near our house and then there’s a monster appeared right in front of her…,” I paused for a second before I finished my sentence. “…and my mom sucker punched that monster in the fucking face.”

Cymberly nodded. “Pretty impressive for a woman with a whole lotta muscle mass,” she said. “So what happens next?”

“What happens next?” I prompted.

“Yeah,” she said.

I then explain the rest of the morning, including the fact my mom and my aunt had to fight the rest of the evil creature that headed towards my home and etc.

“Wow, I guess you had an unexpected out of the ordinary morning,” Cymberly said.

“Man, I wish Cinnamon was here talking about the stuff that came out of the classified envelope,” I said.

“So we can get more info, more information about--,” Cymberly said.

“The Baroillain and Haddie--,” I said.

“Yeah,” Cymberly said as she nodded.

Suddenly, Cheyanne and Cayleen arrived towards us with their packed lunches.

“Hello there,” Cheyanne said to us.

Cymberly and I glanced at them.

“Is it okay that we can here?” Cayleen asked me and Cymberly.

Cymberly and I glanced at each other. From my point of view, it seems that Cymberly is hesitant to let her and Cinnamon’s best frenemies sit beside her. However, I gave her a straight face so as to give Cheyanne and Cayleen a chance. Cymberly then sighed before she nodded, reluctantly agreed with me.

“Definitely,” I said to Cheyanne and Cayleen as we glanced back at them.

“Alright,” Cayleen said as she sat down beside Cymberly.

“Thanks,” Cheyanne said as she walked around the table and sat down beside me.

Now Cheyanne and Cayleen sat down face to face and beside me and Cymberly respectively.

“So how’s things?” Cayleen asked.

“How’s things?” Cymberly prompted.

“Yeah,” Cayleen prompted.

“It’s been good,” Cymberly said. “Not great, but good.”

“Okay,” Cayleen said. “What about you Calhoun?”

“Me?” I prompted.

“Yeah,” she said.

”Well I’m struggling with Advanced Evil Creature Research,” I said. “I’m trying to take evil creature research to the next level but I ended up with thing that I’m not getting. I got a D+ on my previous homework and I’m struggling to get through last night’s homework.”

“Oh ouch,” Cayleen said

“I feel bad for you, Calhoun,” Cymberly said.

“I do apologize for the difficulty you having for the class,” Cheyanne said to me.

“One day, things will get better,” Cayleen said.

“Thanks guys,” I said.

“How about you, Cayleen?” Cymberly asked.

“Well…not much,” Cayleen said. She explained about her whole comic book store situation that she already explained to me yesterday. “Speaking of which, I got the newest issue of the comic book,” she said before she showed us the front cover of a particular comic book she’s holding. “The Preternatural Girl"

“Oh there’s a new comic book coming out?” Cymberly asked.

“Right now, yes,” Cheyanne said.

“Let me see,” Cymberly said.

Cayleen lends her comic book to Cymberly, who takes a look at it. She then turn the pages as she’s skimming and scanning the new issue of the comic book. She paused page-turning, glancing at the particular pages. “Wow, she can really do that,” she reacted while reading.

“Can I look at it?” I asked Cymberly.

“Hold on let me finish, alright,” Cymberly said before she skims and scan the last pages, basically looking at the action sequence, if I were to believe.

I waited patiently while Cheyanne and Cayleen were silently glancing at her.

After less than thirty seconds, Cymberly hands over the comic book to me, in which I took it with both hands. I then started browsing through the new issue of the comic book. But a few pages in, I stumbled across this: a cube that is on top of a vertical rectangular prism. According to the page, it's called The Rectangusm. The description says that the cube was the MacGuffin that the villains in this comic book arc are gonna use. To work, the cube needs some kind of an orange liquid to fill. And you need to have a series of very small-ass cubes to fill inside the vertical rectangular prism. Also, there power cord with an USB in it so that you can insert the USB port on the prism while plugging in the plug into the any socket.

"Hmm, that's interesting," I said.

Cheyanne starts moving her head slight towards me and the comic book that I'm holding to take a closer look of what I'm looking at. Simultaneously, Cymberly and Cayleen gathered around to see what I'm looking at, too.

"That pretty cool," Cymberly said. "Isn't it."

"I'm not sure it's pretty cool or not," Cheyanne said.

"The illustration is pretty cool," Cayleen said. "But The Rectangusm isn't."

"Well it is pretty cool on the surface," I said. "But pretty sure that...it won't be pretty cool that long."

"When, the villain start using for--," Cymberly said.

"No when the villain start preparing to use it," Cayleen said. "It comic book heroes, male and female, tend to thwart them before they official launches. So in this case, The Preternatural Girl will thwart the villain's plans to use The Rectangusm."

"Through the upcoming issues, right?" Cheyanne asked.

"Yeah," Cayleen said.

After more than a minute, I give the comic book towards Cheyanne, who then takes a look at it. Afterwards, Cymberly and Cayleen sat back down and the four of us - currently because Cinnamon is still in ISS - are talking about the newest issue of The Preternatural Girl throughout the lunch period. Little did we know that The Rectangusm and the villain's plans for it in this comic book issue would somehow mirror The Baroillain's plans.
