CH 29 - Cinnamon Misses The Afternoon Bus and Got Grounded At Home

Several seconds later, she reluctantly trudged back to the hallway and exited the school building, only to witness her worst fear unfolding: her school bus was just beginning to pull away. Spotting her bus number stickered on one of the windows, a sinking feeling of realization hit her like a ton of bricks. Without a second thought, she broke into a sprint, her feet pounding against the pavement as she dashed across the parking lot in a desperate attempt to catch up.

"Wait!" she called out desperately.

But the school bus barreled on, already several blocks ahead and outpacing her.

She kept running until a school staff member, Ms. Johnson, intercepted her with both hands.

"Uh-uh, no way! You're supposed to stay within the campus," Ms. Johnson scolded.

"But I'm missing my bus!" Cinnamon protested.

"I'm sorry," Ms. Johnson said firmly. "But you should have been on that bus a while ago instead of getting into trouble. Now, head back to the entrance and start considering other ways to get home."

“Well what are the---,” Cinnamon trying to say.

“Go go go back to the entrance walk,” Ms. Johnson interrupted her while pointing a finger over Cinnamon’s right side at the entrance walk. “You need to wait for a MetroBus, call home or walk home.”

Cinnamon sighs and turn back around and walk back to the entrance sidewalk. After that, she then decides to walk home.

With her purse swaying by her side, Cinnamon strolls down Southern Watermelon Street. She keeps going, gradually noticing something strange happening to her pace—it starts to pick up more speed than it usually does. Startled, she accelerates. "This is not like me," she mumbles. "I've never walked this swiftly before."

Feeling a surge of energy, Cinnamon resolves to push herself even harder and quickens her speed, going from a walk to a run while holding on to her purse. She pushes the limits of her speed with every step she takes. She keeps going faster and faster until she realizes she's sprinting instead of just running. She's excited, but she also observes something strange: she's getting closer to her house than she thought. When she gets there, the adrenaline of the sprint is replaced with a feeling of confusion as she slows down to a crawl. As she considers what has happened, irony dawns on her as she considers how an intended leisurely stroll turned into an incredibly quick sprint home. Her curiosity takes over as she attempts to process the amazing thing she has just done.

As Cinnamon stands at her doorway, her breath is finally calming from the sprint, as a sudden epiphany sweeps over her. She stops as an understanding hitting her like a thunderclap.

"Wait a minute," she whispers to herself as the puzzle pieces start to come together. "I think I remember now... I have super speed." As the truth sinks in, a wave of memories that she had somehow managed to forget till now return.

"Maybe I am one of the fastest, if not the fastest," she wonders as her veins quivering with pleasure at her rediscovery of her incredible powers.

Cinnamon inhales deeply, bracing herself for what she knows is going to happen. "Okay, here goes nothing," she said with a hint of anticipation and resolve in her voice.

With determination, she walks up the sidewalk, each step a sign that she has come to terms with what will happen. She knows full well that her incredible speed is only one aspect of her incredible voyage, so she approaches the entrance door with resolution, ready to confront whatever is inside.

Once she approached the entrance door, she press the doorbell and wait for a few seconds. Afterwards, the door opens and it's revealed to be Cinnamon's dad, whom you now known as Mr. Strawbrgery, who currently holds the door mid-way while glancing at her.

"Why in the world did you miss the bus, Cinnamon?" Mr. Strawbrgery asked in a calm manner.

Cinnamon looked entirely shocked at what her dad just asked. "Dad, how do you know I missed the bus?" She asked.

He slightly looked down. "Well...," he says before glancing back at her. "It's unusual to see you here without a sound of a school bus."

"Well I can explain," she said. "So I got detention for passing gas and I got in-school suspension for fighting with the detention teacher and then I got into a scuffle with a friend that led me miss the bus."

He paused for a moment with his expression of a blend of understanding and mild amusement. He then open the door wide. "Come in," he said, gesturing for Cinnamon to enter with a subtle lift of his eyebrows, a demeanor of composed understanding evident in his tone. As they stepped inside, the atmosphere shifted from the crisp chill of the outdoors to the warmth of their home.

Seated in the living room, Mr. Strawbrgery motioned for Cinnamon to join him on the couch. "Let me express my thoughts, okay?" he said as his voice carrying a gentle authority.

There was a moment of silence before Mr. Strawbrgery spoke again.

Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site.

"So Cinnamon," he began, his voice soft but firm, "It's very understandable that passing gas is pretty much an accidental thing that happened to you. And I would feel sorry but then you go ahead and, I don't know, release some kind of anger, I probably should disappointed inste----"

Then his sentence got interrupted by a doorbell rang.

"I'll get the door," he said as he gets up and walks away from the living room and head towards the exterior door. He then opens it, revealing to be Cinnamon's mom, whom you now know as Ms. Strawbrgery.

"Hello there sir," Ms. Strawbrgery said to him.

"Hello there," he said.

"Is Cinnamon at home yet?" she asked.

"Ah yes, she is," he said.

Ms. Strawbrgery quickly starts walking past him and head into the living with her increasing walking speed.

Once Cinnamon hears Ms. Strawbrgery arrive home...earlier than usual, she slowly raised her eyebrows as she knew she's in gonna be in trouble with her mom. "Holy shit," she whispered.

Then Ms. Strawbrgery enters her living room, she saw Cinnamon already sitting down on the couch.

"There you fucking are!" Ms. Strawbrgery shouted. "Where were you?! I was at school trying to contact you that I'm here for a pickup--,"

"Wait," Cinnamon tried to stop.

"Don't 'wait' me!" Ms. Strawbrgery snapped. "Let me talk when I'm talking!"

Cinnamon went quiet, trying to stay calm even though you can tell that she's a little bit shocked - okay, more than shocked - that she heard her mom

"So first of all, your school call me that there's some incident that you have been involved with that is so insane as shit that I have to be one of the bodyguards for your in-your-face-school-suspension for the rest of the week!" Ms. Strawbrgery shouted.

Mr. Strawbrgery walked back into the living room and stand several blocks away from Cinnamon and Ms. Strawbrgery. He puts his hands behind his back with his back straight while watching the 'drama' unfolding.

"Can you tell me why you have been involved in such an insane as shit incident that is so insane as shit?!" Ms. Strawbrgery shouted.

Cinnamon froze a little bit as she struggles to respond. Then she finally opened her mouth. "I was in detention," she said.

"You were in what?!" Ms. Strawbrgery asked.

"Detention," Cinnamon said.

"Detention, huh?" Ms. Strawbrgery said with a nod. "Why?!"

Cinnamon paused again. Then she opened her mouth again. "For passing gas in class," she said.

"For passing gas in class?!" Ms. Strawbrgery asked.

"Yeah," Cinnamon said. "English class."

"English class?!" Ms. Strawbrgery asked.

"Yeah, by accident," Cinnamon said.

"By accident?!" Ms. Strawbrgery asked.

"Yeah," Cinnamon said.

Mr. Strabrgery then looks left and right as he's listening.

"So you pass gas in class!" Ms. Strawbrgery continues to shout.

Cinnamon sighed. "Yeah," she nodded.

"English class!" Ms. Strawbrgery shouted.

"Yeah," Cinnamon repeated.

"By accident!" Ms. Strawbrgery shouted.

"Yeah," Cinnamon repeated again.

"And that lead you in detention, huh?!" Ms. Strawbrgery shouted.

"Yeah," Cinnamon repeated yet again.

"Well I guess your English teacher had a 'no rip ass' policy in there!" Ms. Strawbrgery shouted. "It's just that she didn't mentioned to you and you were given detention out of the blue for ripping ass by accident. You didn't rip ass on purpose but rather by accident. But you should also know that you should have not rip ass in English nor any of the other classes, even if there's no instruction going on, you UNDERSTAND ME!!" she yelled at the end of her sentence.

"So how can I control my ass-ripping ass from ripping ass again?" Cinnamon asked.

"How can you control your ass-ripping ass from ripping ass again?" Ms. Strawbrgery prompted.

"Yeah, in class?" Cinnamon replied.

"Well bring Fartfighter with you!" Ms. Strawbrgery shouted. "Fartfighter for Women! If you don't want that and you have gas building up ready to explode out of your ass, ask the teacher to go to the bathroom! If the teacher said no, then hold the gas as strong-ass as you can. Squeeze your ass if the gas continues to build up. Hold it until class over. When class is over, make sure you go to the bathroom real quick as fuck. Once you gone to the bathroom, rip as much ass as you can until all of that ass goes out of your ass. And then you go to either the next class or lunch or dismissal. That's how you can control your ass-ripping ass from ripping ass again in class!"

Mr. Strawbrgery continues to glanced left, front and right while still listening.

"And just so you know!" Ms. Strawbrgery continued. "You're grounded for a month!"

"WHAT?!" Cinnamon reacts with pure shock on her face.

"Don't 'WHAT' me!" Ms. Strawbrgery shouted. "You're grounded! For a month! That's right, no inviting friends over, no going out on weekends and no evil creature hunting nights!"

"But mom," Cinnamon said as she got up out of her seat. "There's a monster I'm trying to beat the crap out of."

"Who?!" Ms. Strawbrgery shouted.

"Haddie the Monster," Cinnamon said.

"Haddie the Monster!?" Ms. Strawbrgery shouted.

"Yeah," Cinnamon said.

"Well you gonna have to let fellow evil creature hunters defeat her instead!" Ms. Strawbrgery shouted.

"WHAT?!" Cinnamon shouted.

"NO WHATS!" Ms. Strawbrgery shouted. "It's time for you to let them handle defeating that monster and go find whatever evil creature you can find and defeat when your one month punishment is over. If your one month punishment is over and Haddie isn't defeat yet, you can defeat Haddie. Only if she's still alive and kicking at the time when, again, your one-month punishment is over." She then starts walking away.

Cinnamon was a little bit shattered by the fact that she's grounded for a month at a time when she's trying to defeat Haddie the Monster who have been beating the shit out of her not once but twice. She couldn't imagine Cheyanne's victory over Haddie the Monster instead of hers. If Cheyanne defeats Haddie the Monster, then it will give yet another point to Cheyanne, which makes Cinnamon even more shattered as Cinnamon was struggling to catch up with her evil creature abilities.

Now it's kinda a weird situation for Cinnamon where on one hand, she believes Haddie the Monster should be defeated, but on the other hand, she also believes that she would be the one who gets the victory and not Cheyanne. Not only even Cayleen either. If the monster is defeated by a hunter other than Cheyanne and/or Cayleen, then...that probably would be fine to Cinnamon even if she's still unhappy about it.

What I'm trying to say is that defeating Haddie the Monster is, apparently personal to Cinnamon...because, again, she got the shit beating out of that monster two times and she would not let other evil creature hunter take over. And probably not even our BFF Cymberly even if Cymberly would on Cinnamon's behalf? Well...I might ask, but since I haven't known all of the detention details from Cinnamon yet, I can't make any assumptions about how Cymberly would react. But until I hear the full story from Cinnamon herself, I'll reserve judgment and refrain from involving anyone else in this matter.

Currently right now, Cinnamon head upstairs to her bedroom. At the same time, Mr. Strawbrgery walks out of the living room and heads towards the kitchen.
