"The Demon's King's Blade?" Trey asked again, visibly confused. Yama the king of Demons had a blade? A blade he didn't know about for all the years Yama has been inside him?
"That's what he said, he told me he knew about its whereabouts. From what I could gather, there's a good chance he's telling the truth."
The sudden influx of information overwhelmed Trey. He had to think carefully about his next move.
"Do you think we can trust him?" He asked Sophia still unsure.
"As a guild leader I've seen plenty of people enter my establishment and I think I'm a good judge of character. From what I've seen his someone you can trust. At least that's what I think." Sophia shared her own opinion, she looked confident in her words.
"What do we have to lose?" Ten decided to speak, his voice very lively now that he was fully healed.
"if we're going after Shelly and Duram one of the strongest magicians in the world, we'll need something as powerful as the Demon King's blade"
Using the Demon King's power for his own, Trey didn't seem to like the idea very much. If he used more of Yama's strength, it was likely that the Seal would break again.
He also feared the possibility of another individual to possessing the blade. Trey couldn't help but imagine the amount of damage that would cause and the amount of lives that would be lost.
"Let's go, check him out. We mustn't get carried away, he could still be lying." Trey said, still a little skeptical.
"You guys head on over without me, I'm going to use the bathroom really quick" Akira excused herself. Sophia was able to point her towards the direction of the bathroom.
"Don't you need to go bathe as well?" Trey looked at Ten, although Ten was healed his body released an undesirable smell.
"If I did that, I'd miss learning about the blade. This could be big, if we're going after those two. We need all the information we can get"
Trey just sighed.
The two marched towards the mysterious man's table, when they arrived, they were shocked.
The man had messy blonde hair and he wore a very formal black suit which even had a red tie around his shirt. He looked like your average man in his middle years.
Given how long a magician's life span is old men were actually rare. That wasn't the reason they were shocked though. What shocked them was that the old man looked completely normal.
They expected someone connected to the Demon King's blade to look more evil, or to be some guy just constantly surrounded by darkness. Their minds both went to a male version of Lucy. They expected a male Witch and were greatly disappointed.
"Excuse me, are you the guy who knows about the Demon King's blade?" Ten finally spoke.
The man who was enjoying his meal which consisted of aquatic tail and goblin juice, finally raised his head to meet the two. His green eyes landed on them both as he studied them.
After a long minute, he spoke. "Yes that would be me." He confirmed.
Trey and Ten both looked at each other before they took their seats.
"So you actually know where it is?" Trey sounded eager.
"Yes, I know where it is? Are you the guys Sophia told me about? She told me she'd get me magicians to help me on my quest"
The two looked visibly confused.
Sophia did plan to help the man but she hadn't found the magicians she needed, but with the arrival of Ten, Akira and Trey she finally found the perfect trio to help the old man.
"Yes, we are" Ten managed to say.
The man's facial expression came to life.
"are you serious?"
He actually bowed his head before he spoke.
"My name is Jerry, grandson of the Great Swordsmith Garry. It's a pleasure to meet you."
Ten actually jumped out of his seat, "old man Garry is your grandfather?" He shouted. For a moment the entire guild turned to him, but soon things returned to normality.
"Yes, Garry is my grandfather" Jerry said, with a proud expression on his face.
"Who's Garry?" Trey asked, not sure why Ten was suddenly so excited.
"I'm sorry did you just say who's Garry?" Ten turned around to face Trey before he continued. "He's one of the Greatest Swordsmith to have ever lived, and get this, he lives here in Suveny"
After hearing that, Trey's mind could only think of one person. "You mean the old man who owns the swordsmith store?"
Trey had only met Garry once before and he was still a child. He still remembered their meeting clear as day.
"Yes, that's him. He may not look it but that old man is a genius when it comes to crafting blades, if this guy is his son who else would have knowledge of such a powerful weapon other than him? He may actually be telling the truth?"
Trey didn't say much, he instead turned his attention to Jerry although he did find Ten somewhat convincing.
"If you have knowledge of such a powerful weapon, why in the world haven't you gone after it? Surely you don't need babysitters for that, you're a magician aren't you?" Trey asked.
Jerry cleared his throat before he responded, "well there are two reasons the most important one is that I can't use magic . I'm a rejector."
Trey and Ten were visibly stunned and only then did it hit them, even after being so close to Jerry they felt no mana coming out of him at all.
"No magic? You mean you can't access mana at all?" Trey seeked to confirm again.
This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.
"Yes, rejectors are those who were not blessed by the gods. Those who were not chosen from the very beginning, due to that we find ourselves unable to access mana at all. They're are less than one percent of rejectors in the entire world so I'm not surprised that you've never heard of us. We are a rare case."
The whole idea sounded insane to Trey, a person not being able to use mana just sounded impossible.
"So that's why you need magicians to go with you, because you're too weak." Ten said, before he sat down again.
"The world beyond Suveny is dangerous, I'd be a fool to travel by myself. It's not because I'm weak, I just think preserving your life should always be a person's number one objective." There was silence for a moment before Jerry decided to speak again.
"The other reason I haven't gone after the blade Is because no one in this town believes me. They all think I'm lying and none of them have offered to help me even the licensed magicians. Those who did entertain the idea were simply too expensive." Jerry explained.
"You're the grandson of Garry and you don't have money?" Ten questioned.
"My grandfather has great wealth as a swordsmith but he is also very stingy. I don't know where he placed most of his gold, never once has he told me where it was. The only reasonable money he did have, that I knew about was stolen."
"Stolen?" Trey jumped in, "by who?"
"It's actually related to the Demon King's blade, A few weeks ago, the blade was stolen from my grandfather's store. It was stolen by a group of Rogue Magicians, they went on to steal most of the gold he had before they severely injured him."
Ten and Trey were actually stunned. To think the blade was in Suveny the entire time.
That's when Trey's mind went back to his first meeting with Garry all those years ago. He remembered the odd feeling he felt after he entered the store. The sword that was calling out to him, Trey was convinced that was the Demon King's blade.
"So you know where the magicians are right?" Ten asked.
"Yes, after they took the blade they went to the City of Krey. I need you guys to take me to Krey and help me retrieve the blade."
Trey had never heard of Krey before, infact there were a lot of places he never knew about. He had been around Suveny for so long, he had forgotten about the broader world. A world beyond Suveny.
"We'll help you." Both Ten and Trey said simultaneously, showcasing they were on the same page.
"I thank you, we should leave for Krey as quickly as possible. We can't let them unleash the true power of the blade." Jerry said.
"The true power of the blade? Can you tell me more about the Demon King's blade?" Trey had agreed to help but he needed more information.
"Well, I don't know much myself. I only know what my grandfather told me. The blade is one of the Demon King's 10 great treasures and is one of the 25 most powerful items in the world. By ranking alone it's considered an S class blade."
Trey eye's widened, he knew it must've been a powerful item but he didn't know it was that powerful. An S class blade was the highest class a weapon could have, with the second highest being A class.
The name '10 great treasures' also caught his attention.
"What are the 10 great treasures?" Trey couldn't contain his curiosity.
"From what i know, the 10 great treasures were created by the Demon King as a last resort to save himself in the battle against the Great Family Leaders." Jerry had a sip of his juice before he continued.
"He divided most of his power among those 10 treasures and then he scattered them throughout the entire world. They brought massive destruction and changed the landscape of the world as we knew it. That period was known as the collapse." John explained.
"The four great families?" Trey seeked more clarity.
"They are the 4 strongest families in the world. They consist of the Fauna, Yaju, Yuri and Amber families. Their family leaders are the strongest magicians alive, they were the heroes who slayed the Demon King Yama all those centuries ago."
Trey knew about the Fauna family but he, knew close to nothing about the other families.
"The Demon King's Blade is known as the Forbidden Blade. Its power could flip this world on its head. If those Rogue Magicians manage to unleash its true power, i can't even imagine what could happen." Jerry emphasized the importance of their task.
"So does this guy know about the blade?" Akira asked having returned from the bathroom.
She wore an elegant black skirt and a white shirt that revealed her stomach. She also wore black heels most common among female magicians. She had a huge smile on her face clearly pleased about her knew outfit.
She borrowed the clothes from Sophia, they were Sophia's clothes from her magician days.
"Yes, I think he's telling the truth" Trey said.
After the three of them finally introduced themselves to Jerry, they finally prepared to leave the establishment.
Trey went back to Sophia to say his goodbyes.
"I gues I'll be going now Sophia." Trey said, his voice low.
Sophia just smiled, "be careful Trey, also watch over Ten for me I know he can be a bit of a handful." Sophia giggled as she spoke.
Trey saw Ten waving at him and knew it was time to go.
"Thank you for actually keeping my secret Sophia. I really appreciate it."
Trey began walking away.
"Don't mention it kid!" Sophia smiled.
Trey marched out of the building, leaving Sophia with a moment by herself.
"I don't know what his path will entail, but watch over that boy Lucy. I fear he may lose himself, if no one is there for him when he needs it most."
Jerry led them outside the building. He took out a small button and pressed it.
A puff of smoke consumed the four of them for a moment before it began to die down.
Infront of them was a big carriage, it was pulled by two Mana Beasts that looked like giant green lizards.
Their teeth were exposed as saliva dripped down from their mouths. Their necks were forcefully binded to the carriage by a black rope.
The carriage was big enough to be a small room. The were two seats situated at the back of each beast and there was two doors and seats for the carriage itself.
Jerry had a smug look on his face "I got this baby from the Lab, its one of the Creator's latest inventions."
"I didn't expect a swordsmith to have a carriage this big" Ten admitted.
"Oh, I'm not a swordsmith. I'm a merchant"
Ten gasped in shock, he expected him to be a swordsmith considering his grandfather was such a legendary one.
"That's certainly a surprise" Ten said.
"Yea.. I just wanted a different path from the old man, that's all"
There was an awkward silence before Ten spoke once again.
"Well I'm not going anywhere near those beasts" Ten stated, his body shivered at the sight of them.
"Come on they're just grade 2's they look harmless." Akira stated.
"Me and you have different definitions of harmless"
"Coward!" Akira scoffed.
"There's a difference between being a coward and being smart." Ten corrected her, while walking to enter the carriage.
"It would be acceptable for a kid, but for an old man it's just sad" Akira said, following behind him.
"I'm not old, I'm 24" Ten protested.
The two entered the carriage and sat at the back while Trey and Jerry sat at the front riding the beasts.
By smacking them with a whip Jerry got the beasts moving.
The carriage rocketed across the city and soon they reached the town gates.
Trey made sure his face was clearly obscured by his hoodie before they reached the exit. He was wearing it since they left the 'Green Petals Guild' but he wanted to make sure it was tight.
Upon reaching the gates, the four were met by two guards. One stopped their carriage and the other stayed positioned near the gates.
"Please showcase your magician's license, Academy license or merchant license if you wish to pass."
One of the guards ordered, he wore green armour and had a green ponytail hairstyle.
Jerry took out a B rank merchant license. It was a small card that contained all his details. He gave it to the guard.
The guard checked it for a second before giving it back.
"Everything looks good...." his eyes seemed to be scanning Trey who was wearing his hoodie.
He soon turned his attention back to Jerry, "You may proceed."
The gates of a small town like suveny were equally small, they opened and the carriage passed freely.
Wanted posters of Trey were actually littered near the gates of Suveny, reminding him once again. He was a wanted figure.
The guard turned his attention to his other partner who was responsible for opening the gates.
"Hey Roy, did that kid with the cloak look familiar to you?" he scratched his head as he questioned.
"No.. I think you're imagining it." His chubby partner responded before chugging down a bottle of alcohol.
"Take it easy Roy, we're still on duty you know."
"Our shift is almost over its not like a rogue magician will attack us or anything." Roy said defending himself.
Rogue Magicians were magicians considered to be criminals by the 4 great families that ruled the world. Trey fell into this category. The more threatening the magician, the bigger the bounty placed on them.
The carriage continued to move further away from Suveny. The four approached the City of Krey unaware of what was in stored for them
