Chapter 6: Trouble

One of the figures walked towards Ten. The light that came from the door slowly unveiled their form. Their footsteps were calm and calculated.

They stood infront of Ten their figure looming over him.

"That's all well and good Ten, but did you get the money?"

The man was fully unveiled by the sun rays that penetrated the room.

His figure was muscular, his green cloak too big for his body, it was barely hanging on around his neck. It was more of a cape than a cloak. He wore a vest so tight, his abs were transparent. His pants were white and baggy. He finished his attire with your standard magician boots.

His green eyes looked down on Ten, his bald head shimmering in the light.

"I got the information...you said if i-"

Ten's words were interrupted when he was grabbed by his throat. His neck was smothered completely.

He raised Ten above his head.

"We clearly told you to bring 50 000 gold pieces"

The magician threw Ten across the building forcing him through the building's wall. He sauntered towards Ten with a satisfied grin.

Even with the chaos going on, no one even bothered to look his direction. Everyone present acted as if nothing was happening.

He came to a stop before he crouched looking down on the injured Ten.

"She's a part of the Fauna family now. We gave you a chance Ten. You're the one who failed her" His foot proceeded to stomp Ten repeatedly.

Ten tried crying for mercy but the stomping drowned it all.

"Stop it Duram" a girl with silver hair that flowed down her figure spoke. She grabbed Duram by the shoulder, her icy glare directed at his eyes.

"Tch" Duram stopped.

Even with her slim figure she had brought Duram under her spell. Her white dress danced around her ankles as she spoke.

"Let's just go check it out. This half dead toy has fulfilled his purpose."

"But Shelly! If I don't teach guys like him a lesson they'll start disrespecting the Fauna family" Duram protested.

"Even so, if we miss our chance and Lucy actually gets away we'll be in trouble. You can just crash his skull and get it over with. No point playing with a useless toy"

She walked away after gesturing for Duram to follow.

"It's your lucky day Ten. I'm not the kind of guy who destroys little twerps like you without playing with them first. We'll have to reschedule for another day. " Duram followed Shelly.

"I'll tell Lianne you said hi" he left Ten with those final words.

Tears streamed down his bloodied face. Ten just laid there. Motionless.

Meanwhile.. Trey and Lucy were about to start training again.

"You're still getting used to using your darkness element, let's see if you can extend your time usage with the technique'

Lucy wore her usual robe that reached her ankles. Her pale skin was contrasted by the black lipstick on her lips. Her single earing dangled in the wind.

Her staff pointed towards Trey.

Trey smiled, he wore his signature cloak which dragged all the way to his feet. His slim figure was completely devoured by it. It made moving a little tricky but he was fine with that.

He held his blade and with a smirk on his face. The blade got consumed by his mana turning it completely black.

"Let's see, if you can keep up. Lucy"

Trey vanished, leaving traces of black mana behind him. He appeard above Lucy.

Trey brought down his blade and a crescent shaped mana slash shot from it.

Lucy smiled, her grip on her staff tightened before her own black mana consumed her staff. In a swift motion she swung her staff producing a wave of dark Mana that devoured the slash turning it into nothing.

It moved on to devour Trey as well. Lucy smiled certain of her victory.

"Descending Smash!!"

Trey shouted, his body shot through Lucy's attack. He brought down his blade and he crashed it against the ground.

Lucy jumped back avoiding it by mere inches. A crack formed on the ground on impact.

"Why would I cloak my blade only when I can do the same for my body?"

Unauthorized content usage: if you discover this narrative on Amazon, report the violation.

Trey had a satisfied grin on his face. He swung his blade vertically producing another slash that sent Lucy smashing against a tree.

She managed to block the slash but the force behind it forced her to plummet.

"Not bad, you've certainly grown a lot since then." Lucy was back on her feet. Her mana now cloaked her entire figure.

Lucy became a blur before she appeard Infront of Trey. She brought down her staff and Trey responded with a fearsome block.

Trey felt the weight of Lucy's swing driving him deeper into the ground. She was serious.

Lucy kicked Trey's unguarded stomach forcing him to cough up saliva on impact.

He had cloaked his figure but it still hurt. It hurt a lot.

Lucy followed by a swift sweep, she stole Trey's balance and forced him to hit the ground. Trey's body fell hard. Lucy placed her staff against Trey's kneck.

"That makes it 197 to 5 better luck next time kid"

Trey sighed, "I thought I could win this time. Let's go again Lucy." Trey's spirit still burned despite the beating he received.

"Fine, but if you lose no dinner tonight." Lucy said moving a few meters away.

"You go-" Trey felt something, something tremendous. It was enough to disrupt his sentence.

Lucy felt it too, it was too big to miss.

Two figures came out of the trees and landed infront Trey and Lucy.

"Man I can't believe it, that twerp was actually right" Duram's fist cracked as he moved forward.

"To think the greatest Witch in the world would reduce herself to this. I'm disappointed" Shelly said, with a cold stare.

"Are you sure she's still that Lucy? the Mana coming from her is so feeble its insane she's survived this long. Even a D rank Magician could take her on at this rate." Duram was skeptical.

Even so he walked forward "give us the boy and we'll let you live. We don't want Diana on our necks anyway." Duram said, with the most arrogant smile he could master.

"Not happening." Lucy stood infront of Trey.

"Have it your way, we'll just have to apologize to Diana. It can't be helped. Mother comes first"

A small circles made of mana formed around Duram. They played the role of your traditional boxing gloves just small circles around his fists.

Duram dashed forward. He appeared infront of Lucy. He sent a punch which Lucy met with her staff. The impact shook the very surface they stood in.

Duram continued blow after blow and Lucy continued block after block. A small crack would form around Lucy's staff though, using the slight opening Duram smashed Lucy's stomach pushing her back slightly.

"Seriously Lucy, you're no where near as strong as you should be. Please try to make this fun." Duram smirked.

Lucy didn't say anything. The Mana around her staff intensified as its color got darker by the minute.

"Careful Duram. She's still a Witch her mana is corrupted." Shelly warned.

"I can handle my self in a fight" Duram smirked.

Lucy smashed her staff against the ground.

Cracks would form and strings of black Mana would run along them cutting everything in their path.

Duram leaped to the sky, "that's way too slo-" his words were cut short as he saw spears made of pure dark mana closing in on him.

Duram smiled, "that's more like it!"

The circles around his hands grew larger. He smashed the air itself causing it to crack. The shockwaves from the assault decimated the incoming spears.

Duram clasped both his hands holding them above his head looking to bring them down like a hammer.

Lucy raised her staff preparing a counter measure. That was stopped on its tracks though.

Black marks formed on the ground. They were some sort of inscriptions that halted Lucy's movements completely.

"Black Spider Web Seal complete"

Shelly's hands were pressed against the ground as she spoke.

Lucy knew she had been caught.

"What happened to you Lucy? You used to be so cool back then, you despised demons as much as me. So why?" Shelly wanted answers.

Lucy said nothing.

Duram's body descended and his hands hammered into Lucy producing a cracking sound. The attack struck the back of her neck.

Duram wasn't finished, she grabbed Lucy and threw her like a ragdoll.

She smashed her against a tree and launched himself at her. His mana circles grew brighter and he sent a rocking jab to her stomach the impact forcing Lucy to cough up blood. The giant tree cracked on impact.

"Lucy!" Trey shouted desperately.

Trey saw a green barrier form around his figure. It restricted his movement, limiting the amount of space available to him.

"You will stay right there" Shelly said, walking towards Trey.

"Duram I have the kid let's go!" Shelly informed her partner.

Duram didn't respond he stood there silent.

The ground trembled, as numerous white souls flew towards Lucy. From the trees and even the woods themselves, countless souls were attracted to Lucy like a magnet.

One by one the souls smashed into Lucy's staff and everytime they did her mana grew bigger and bigger.

This was the result of Lucy allowing ghosts and spirits to inhabit her home and forest. It was also related to her mana going wild a few years ago.

"Don't tell me, this entire forest is powered by her mana, no wonder she was so weak." Shelly thought to herself.

"Duram get out of there!" she shouted, desperately.

Her shout was drowned by Duram's scream.

Lucy held his fist and she had crushed it instantly breaking every bone in his hand.

Duram knelt, screaming in pain. Lucy lifted him like a ragdoll and threw her across the field.

His figure brisked past Shelly as it landed on a tree behind her. The cracking on the tree showcasing the force behind the throw.

"No ways! with just one hand?" Shelly took a step back.

"How dare you lay a hand on him" Lucy sounded bitter.

She swung her staff that released a deadly arc of darkness.

Shelly projected a barrier of green Mana infront of her but it was meaningless. It shattered and her body was sent plummeting.

The barrier around Trey broke and she ran towards Lucy. Before he could say a word. He saw Duram stir back on his feet.

"Not bad Lucy, you really are the best! I haven't had this much fun since Ran."

Black lines would suddenly form around Duram's face. It was black lines that ran down his eyes like tears. The lines also appeared at the back of his hands and they released a green color.

Duram rocked towards Trey which forced Lucy to intercept his punch. The collusion occurred as Duram's punch struck Lucy's staff.

"I knew you'd shield the boy!" Duram smiled, his knee smashed into Lucy forcing her to relieve her staff.

Trey shouted "Lucy!"

Duram raised his arms before he brought down another hammer blow.

Lucy intercepted the attack using both her hands to grab Duram's arms.

"You need to go now Trey" she said, breathing heavily.

"I can help, I can still fi-"

"No Trey! I'll hold them for as long as I can. Run! run away and don't turn back"

Trey didn't understand.

"Why? Why do you go so far for me?" tears and snot flooded his face. "I've brought you nothing but trouble for two years, so why?"

"That's a stupid question, go now Trey I won't repeat myself"

Trey turned around reluctantly still unable to understand.

"How could she be so strong" Duram thought to himself unable to move an inch"

Trey prepared himself to run.

"Oh and one more thing.."

Trey heard Lucy and turned to look at her.

"I love you Trey"

Trey could felt his throat get hard as he turned around to run.

He zipped across the field as he shouted.

"I love you too!! Lucy!!!"

Trey ran faster than he had ever ran in his life.

"I'm glad, I'm so glad" tears flowed down Lucy's cheeks.

A flash of light exited her figure and consumed everything in a glorious blast.

"I'll miss you Trey" were her last thoughts before her soul and body gave way.

The battle was over.
