The barrier flickered, indicating that it wasn't going to last long. "Blight," the ogre mage casted, a thick smog covered the barrier, eating away the energy. Seeing the cracks forming, Aldway knew that the barrier couldn't last another attack. "Run for the door, I'll stop him," Aldway said, knowing that with the villagers outside, the ogre would definitely be quickly dealt with. Jason frowned, something felt off, but seeing that the barrier couldn't hold on for much longer, he and Zahra moved towards the door. "Leaving without saying goodbye?" the ogre cackled, his staff lighting up.
"Now!" Aldway shouted, as he threw the cross on his neck at the ogre. Exploding with a large flash, the ogre was temporarily blinded. Jason and Zahra instantly bolted towards the door. "Foolish, there is no way that I'll let prey escape," the blinded ogre laughed maniacally, the runes on the door lit up. "Childsplay," Jason smirked in his heart, a red array appearing on the door. With a kick, the door was splintered into pieces, which scared the crowd waiting outside. "THE ELDER IS AN OGRE, HE IS ATTACKING ALDWAY!" Jason shouted at the top of his lungs, silently amplifying his voice with some mana to ensure everyone heard him.
At first, the villagers didn't believe him, but as the smoke cleared, they could see a grotesque being brandishing his staff at Aldway, who was clearly in bad shape. "STAY BACK!" Slade shouted at the non-battle oriented villagers as he rushed into battle himself. Some of the other villagers were unarmed, so they quickly rushed back to their respective homes to retrieve their weapons. "Eyes of Perception," Slade casted, his pupils instantly tightened, only focusing on his prey, the ogre. "Do we help them?" Zahra whispered. Perhaps it was because he was still angry at the Slade, or perhaps it was because he felt like something was really off, Jason shook his head.
"Flaming blade," Slade casted, pulling out his glistening sword. The sword instantly caught on fire, Slade rushing towards the ogre. Flaming blade? Against an ogre? Jason almost laughed out loud at Slade's poor choice of enchantment. Just as Jason predicted, as Slade's blade came into contact with the ogre's skin, he spinned around, driving a fist right into Slade's abdomen. Enchanted with Flaming blade, the ogre burst into flames, the fire burning brightly on his skin. Turning back to Aldway, the ogre grinned. "Your stupid friend really helped out a lot," the ogre cackled, his punches now not only bruised, but also burned. The flames simply had no effect on the ogre, since his skin was far too thick.
"Smite," Aldwin casted, his face instantly paled as his mana reserves emptied. Thunder roared, a thick bolt of golden lightning came down from the heavens, directly striking the ogre. The ogre screamed in agony, writhing in pain. Jason furrowed his brows, holy magic shouldn't have such a drastic effect on ogres. The ogre stood up, shaking off the dizziness. The aura radiating from him was much weaker, the spell seemed to do pretty decent damage. Seeing Aldwin as a threat, the ogre decided to get rid of him first. "Blight," he casted, black smog instantly poured out from his hands, shrouding Aldwin in the deadly black smoke.
Slade, with blood dripping from his mouth, stood up with his whole body aching. "Strength," he casted, the muscles on his body expanded a tiny bit. Lunging fowards, he swung his sword at the "unsuspecting" ogre. Slade grinned, envisioning a scene where his blade sliced through the ogre's throat. Unfortunately, his dream was easily shattered by a simple spell. "Stoneskin," the ogre casted, not even defending the attack. The blade struck the ogre, to Slade's surprise, the sword shattered, snapping directly in half. The ogre's fingers wrapped around Slade's throat, directly lifting him off the ground.
Aldwin was quickly being corroded alive by the Blight spell, Jason could see his vitality being drained quickly by the spell. He was barely alive, trying to conjure up the sliver of mana he had left to fight against the spell. Sighing, Jason knew that he had to step in. "Save the two, I'll deal with the ogre," he said to Zahra, as he meandered towards the ogre. Some of the villagers were going to hold him back, but after a quick consideration, they determined that perhaps the ogre's appearance was linked with the "cursed" twins.

"Fire dart," Jason casted, as a normal bolt of fire flew towards the ogre. Jason was pretty sure that if he used his demonic flames, the ogre would definitely take a decent amount of damage, but he didn't want to expose his true prowess too fast, in case the villagers became suspicious about his abnormal power. A six year old casting Fire dart was definitely quite impressive, but most talented mages could do the same at that age. The spell directly struck the ogre in the face, which clearly irritated him. Turning around, he realized that it was the little brat who somehow managed to break through his enhanced door. Annoyed, he dropped the unconscious Slade onto the ground, locking eyes with Jason.
Flipping the ogre off, Jason mocked, "Oversized goblin, dumb as a rock." Annoyed by the little pest, the ogre casted Blight again. Before the smoke could reach him, Jason bolted towards the forest, not forgetting to provoke the ogre by continuing casting Fire darts at him. Seeing that the ogre was coming after him, Jason grinned as he disappeared into the thick forest. Zahra quickly rushed towards Aldway, who was near the brink of death.
"Gust," Zahra casted, a breeze blew away the black smog. "Life cocoon," Zahra casted a new spell that Jason taught him. Roots sprouted from the ground, wrapping around Aldwin like a sarcophagus. The surrounding villagers were frightened, thinking that Zahra was trying to kill Aldwin. But as they saw the cocoon emit a warm, green glow, with small flowers sprouted around it they figured out that she was probably healing Aldwin. The roots sapped nutrients from the earth, turning it into vitality for the one wrapped inside it. Looking at the unconscious Slade, Zahra didn't hide her disdain. Slade was full of disrespect towards Jason, which Zahra wasn't really content with. "Reveal wounds," Zahra casted, as Slade's conditions were displayed in front of her eyes. "He'll be fine. The cocoon will disappear in two hours," Zahra said, as she quickly went towards the direction where Jason disappeared.
About a few hundreds yards of running, Jason pretended to catch his breath, panting as sweat drenched his clothes. "Finally! Come and meet your demise," the ogre laughed, the rascal finally ran out of breath. Walking towards Jason, the ogre swung his staff like a baseball bat, aiming to smash Jason's brains out. Jason grinned, it has been a while since he fought a decent enemy, he was getting quite rusty. Directly hitting Jason's head, a unbelievable thing occurred. Instead of blood splattering everywhere, Jason's head turned into a purple smoke, scattering as the attack passed right through. Realizing that there was more than what meets the eye, the ogre instinctively backed up, which was probably the best decision he will ever make. Right beneath where he was standing, a pillar of red flames erupted. The ogre shuddered, if he was still standing there, he would have been turned into charcoal. "What are you?" the ogre asked, shocked by Jason's sudden display of skills.
Deciding to hone his rusty skills, Jason decided to not use Sealing magic, trying to see if he could best the ogre in a competition of wit and strength. "Ox's strength," Jason casted, feeling the power course through his veins. He couldn't cast the strength enhancing spell he usually used, Ogre's strength, since he was pretty sure his current body couldn't withstand the power. Seeing the little kid rush towards him like he was going to punch him, the ogre cackled. Even the strength of ten grown men couldn't compare to a ogre's power, not to mention a little child that barely reached the same height as his hips. But the ogre was quickly proven wrong as Jason dodged the incoming blow, delivering a blow at the ogre's knees.
Feeling his kneecap shatter, the ogre knelt down on one leg in pain. "YOU PEST!" he roared, embarrassed that he lost an exchange against a little kid. "YOU COURTED DEATH," the ogre shouted, blood filling his eyes. Innate racial skill of ogres, Jason quickly realized the changes that were happening to the ogre. Ogre's blood, a skill that allowed all ogres to temporarily call upon the strength hidden deep in their bones, increasing their strength and durability from two fold to five fold according to their bloodline. After the skill ends, the ogre will enter a temporary stage of weakness since they were basically forcing all the strength that was stored in their bodies. Sensing the orge's power increase three fold, Jason knew that the ogre was definitely one of the stronger ones. To be frank, Jason was the perfect counter to Ogre's blood, since he could just seal the buffs. But deciding to test himself, he was now in a sticky situation.
