Rebirth!

The molten dirt and rocks were still bubbling, there were no traces of any life left except for a plain looking brass ring that was covered in dust and dirt. Trembling, a red figure slowly seeped out of the ring, forming a demonic figure. Looking around the completely unrecognizable surroundings and the large crater that was more than four hundred feet wide, Jason was shocked. His soul would also definitely been burnt to crisp had it not been for his quick wit, hiding in his own ring.

Zahra wormed out of the ring, shocked to see the surroundings. "My body is definitely gone, right?" she asked, fully knowing that there was no possibility that even a single cell from her body could survive such an apocalyptic attack. "Yep, but I've got what I need," Jason said, yanking out a soul that was as black as ink. The soul took the shape of a large wolf, howling I anger. "Guess I won, Lycaon," Jason said with a grin. A deep red glow enveloped Lycaon's struggling soul, before being absorbed by Jason. Feeling the power surging through his body, Jason knew that he'd made the correct decision. Lycaon's soul actually provided more strength than Vepar's, which Jason deduced that it was probably because Vepar's soul was already severely damaged by Savitr's blade that had the ability to severely harm souls. The soul contained so much power that the shape of Jason's soul began to swift, wolf like features started to appear, long canine teeth, thick fur, and sharp claws. His soul also became much more opaque, since it was now so powerful that it could almost solidify. The benefits that the soul granted didn't end there, centuries worth of knowledge about runes flooded Jason's mind. The tattoos that enhanced strength, arrays that secured doors, and various types of runes became basic knowledge for him. Feeling the surge in his strength, Jason also took out the souls he collected from the dead werewolves.

Feeling his strength soar to new heights, Jason was simultaneously ecstatic but also slightly depressed. Since finding a body that could could contain his soul was hard enough, now that his soul was basically three times stronger than the soul of demon lords, it was practically impossible for Jason to find a suitable vessel, not to mention find one with enough magic affinity for him to freely cast the spells in his arsenal. From his fight against Lycaon, he clearly felt like he needed a vessel decent enough for him to at least unleash a quarter of his power. The banyan ent's body could allow him to unleash about three quarters of his true power, but that was clearly not a feasible option since the banyan ent could only cast plant magic, not to mention the size and mobility of the vessel was clearly not fit for Jason's fighting style.

Since he couldn't currently come up with a suitable solution, Jason decided to set out first, perhaps a solution would present itself on the way. He also needed to find a body for both Zahra and the banyan ent, who were both currently resting in his ring. With the two ethereal wings on his back extended, Jason began to traverse the land. He used to be familiar with this area five centuries ago, but after so many years, almost nothing remained the same.

After weeks, possibly months of traveling, Jason stumbled upon a villiage, with a population of around two hundred. The people there were clearly much stronger than the average person, the aura radiating off them reminded Jason of the adventurers that earned a living by slaying creatures. Located in a forest infested with monsters, it was not a surprise that it took more than a average man to be able to survive. Suddenly hearing the cries of newborn humans, Jason floated towards a modest wooden hut. Passing through the walls, it was quite the mess inside the small structure. A woman was covered in sweat, almost passing out from pain. Another woman was standing besides her, comforting her while two other women were attending her wounds caused by the rough maternity. Another woman was washing the blood off the pair of newborn twins with warm water, as their wailing became weaker and weaker.

Clearly underweighted and possibly malnutritioned, the twins weren't in good condition. Floating above the farce Jason could sense the soul power of the twins gradually weaken, the flames of their soul slowly weaken as if they were going to snuff out. Unlike Jason whose soul was more than powerful enough to exist on its own, the souls of normal people need their body to provide protection and slowly nourish the soul. As the body slowly nourishes the soul, the person would become smarter, be able to wield more mana, and much more.

The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

"That's it!", Jason began to make some calculations in his mind. His soul clearly didn't need more nourishment, the problem he kept coming across was that the body wasn't even powerful enough to harbor his soul, not to mention nourishing it. But what if he sealed his soul power, only letting out a portion of his soul power to slowly enhance a body? The body of the newborn was the perfect vessel for his plan, since they contained the most potential for growth, he could slowly tweak and manipulate the body into the perfect vessel perfectly designed for himself. Slowly unsealing more and more of his soul power, he could condition the body to be able to fully contain his soul!

"I don't think they'll make it," whispered the middle-aged woman washing the twins, feeling the heartbeats get weaker and weaker. "Get the priest, see if he could do anything to help," one of the more experienced woman said, as the other rushed out to call for the only priest in their village. "What's wrong," the mother laying in bed asked anxiously, terrified. "Everything will be fine my dear, you should rest first," the midwife who had clearly helped with multiple births comforted the panicking mom.

Not long after, the priest who looked to be around his late fifties entered the room. Suddenly freezing, he looked around the surroundings. "Show yourself!" he shouted, scaring the mother. "What's wrong?" she asked again, panicking. Jason, who was somehow detected by the priest was quite impressed. Although he didn't put any effort in hiding himself, no average person could detect him. The priest looked around the room, clearly sensing the unwelcomed guest. But as Jason suppressed his aura, the priest couldn't sense anything anymore. "That's weird, I clearly felt a unfamiliar presence," the priest thought. But that concern didn't last long, since there were clearly more important things.

Quickly going over to check on the two twins, it didn't take a priest to know that they weren't going to make it. "Invigorate," the priest casted, a warm green glow enveloped the two twins. Although some colour returned to the faces of the two, it quickly faded. The priest's spells were clearly not enough to save the two. As he tried again to no avail, he knew that it was too late. Jason watched the two flickering embers snuff out as the innocent and pure souls were gone forever. Seeing the priest shake his head, the mother and the other women were devastated, especially the mother who forever lost her children.

With difficulty even standing up, she half crawled to the side of her newborns, kneeling down and begging the priest to save them two. Shaking his head, the priest really tried his best. Tears began to fall from her eyes as she wept, praying for a miracle to happen. But life wasn't a fairy tale, those who are deceased can't come back to life. Sighing, the priest walked towards the door filled with grief. But before he could leave, a ominous wind began to blow. The mother shielded the corpses of her children screaming at thin air with anger and grief, "Don't you dare take my child, Devil!" "Purge," the priest casted, trying to get rid of the monsters he thought that were going to devour the souls of the decease children. This wasn't a rare sight, since their were monsters that specifically targets the soul of the newly dead.

The holy light lit up the room, any type of Undead would surely be burnt to crisp. But as the light dimmed down, the twins were still shining bright. The priest rushed towards the twins, wanting to know why they were still glowing. The mother was also puzzled, gently grabbing one of her child's tiny hand. She froze for a split second before she broke down in tears. "Thank you, thank you so much for the miracle," she cried, as she held the priest's hand. The priest was puzzled for a second until he felt a burst of vitality radiating from the twins that were supposed to be dead. "But... how?" the priest was perplexed. A simple Purge spell shouldn't have such effects. He tried to come up with a reason before he finally came up with a reasonable explanation. "Demons! Demons were probably possessing the twins, sucking on their life-force. The Purge spell simply expelled the demons from their bodies.

Meanwhile, Jason was doing his best to seal the souls of him and Zahra, the extra power radiated out their souls were mistaken as life-force by the priest. After some close calls, Jason perfectly sealed both of their souls to fit the capacity of the newborn. Jason planned to unseal each part everyday, slowly exposing the body to the power.
