Chapter 3: Am I the Bad Guy?

Chapter 3: Am I the Bad Guy?

“So… aren’t you going to put those away?”

The queen was looking both at my knives and Lily’s gun. I gave a shrug as I sat down on a couch. Lily sat beside me as she set her gun on the table beside her. I also placed my knives on a table beside me where I can easily reach it.

“You two really are on your guards aren’t you? Didn’t I say I won’t attack you two anymore?”

“Yeah, you did. But I still don’t trust you.”

“I’ve known people from my world that can falsify there intent even when I said I could trust them. That’s why I’m keeping it safe.”

Lily gave the best answer out from both of us. The queen sighed as she leaned back on her chair. Her clothes then began to change in front of our eyes. No she wasn’t stripping in front of us. Instead her clothes were molding into weird shapes and sizes.

Before I knew it, she was now wearing a less formal attire. She still had a metal chest plate with her metal skirt, but now it was complementing a vest like jacket with a knee length skirt. She was also wearing combat boots that matched her leather gloves. Honestly, instead of looking like a princess, she looks like a mercenary now.

“Ahh… this feels so much better.”

You could see her completely relaxing on the couch. Marlana then entered the room with a tea set. At first, she froze as she looked at the unrefined queen. She then took a breath of annoyance before she began serving the tea.

“So, I’m guessing you two have a lot of questions but first, let’s get introductions out of the way.”

She stood up and gave a slight bow.

“My name is Artura Wessex, queen of the Wessex. Ruler of the castle of Camelot. I have the highest proficiency in magic in the kingdom and am currently single. If you can excuse me of my behavior earlier, I would greatly appreciate it.”

I could hear the sincere words in her mouth. I slightly relaxed. Slightly. I still don’t really trust her. And what was that ‘singles’ line all about?

“I’m called u…”

I stopped myself for a bit. I was about to call myself my original unit name, but I was free. There’s no longer any reasons to bear that name. I took a deep breath.

“My name is Bryan. Bryan Carleton. I was born in a place called the Usoan province. That’s really all I could say.”

I then looked over at Lily who seemed to be staring at a fly on her nose. I gave her a quick nudge.

“OH… uh, my name is Lily.”

A couple of seconds passed as Artura kept staring at Lily.

“Is… that it?

“Yes.”

Artura tilted her head. She then sat back down as she gave a sigh.

“Honestly, you two are really weird. Even the other heroes would tell me more than you two.”

“Sorry to break the Meta, but were different.”

“Yeah, I can tell Sherlock.”

“Who’s Sherlock?”

Lily looked at the queen in confusion. Hmm… actually who is Sherlock? Why did she say Sherlock? I looked at the queen expecting an answer.

“It’s nothing important.”

She immediately shoved it aside. Honestly, I’m really curious about this girl now.

“Well, seeing as you two still probably have questions, let’s go ahead and start this meeting. First things first.”

She then looks at me.

“What’s your relationship to this girl?”

Eh… why ask this. What does this have to do with anything?

“He’s my master.”

Lily spoke for me, though I really don’t think you should speak about this Lily.

“Master huh. Are you a slave?”

“No. You can say I’m a contracted spirit.”

“Huh?”

The queen gave us a blank stare. Sigh… I really didn’t want them to know about this.

“As she said, she is a spirit but rather to say, she’s a summoned being.”

“A contracted spirit?”

“No, she’s a summoned being. Unlike contracts, a summon means that the being I summon will stay with me for the rest of my life. Of course, it’s their choice whether to be summoned or not, but once summoned they can never leave the owners side.”

Artura let the information process in her brain.

“Can a summoned being die?”

“Yes, it can. But I can just bring it back to life.”

“Ok, that’s overpowered. No wonder I couldn’t identify her stats. She’s too high leveled, she’s a cheat.”

“Cheat? I wouldn’t exactly say that. She is overpowered but her magical abilities are quite low though she does boast high physical strength.”

Basically, summoned beings are powerful in that they can learn to wield weapons and fight in a physical manifestation. The more they hold the weapon, the stronger they get with it… but let’s not let that little info slip.

“This leads me to question then… your world. Does it have magic?”

The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.

“Yes and no. It does have magic, but if I were to guess this worlds setting then it’s probably not the same.”

“Hmmm…”

She raised her hand in front of her. I could feel the mana gathering around her palm.

“O goddess, illuminate my path [fire].”

A small will o wisp appeared on her hand. She then began to play with it as the small flame danced around her.

“This world’s magic is run through a series of chants or scripts. Of course voiceless incantations are possible but they do take more mana so most magic is done by chants. Is this how your magic works?”

“I’m sorry. At this point, I really can’t tell you how my world’s magic works.”

“Why is that? I showed you our magic, so you should show yours.”

That explanation was really give and take, but it’s your fault for disclosing it.

“I didn’t ask you to tell me, but instead you showed me. Did you really expect me to just show you magic that you probably won’t understand?”

“What do you mean, won’t understand. I am the highest ranking magician in this kingdom. There is no magic that I can ever…”

“[Command 3: Silence]”

In an instant, Artura’s mouth shut closed. She looked surprised as she tried to talk but couldn’t. The look of panic was written all over her face.

“YOU SCUM!”

Marlana took out a stick and began waving it around. Oh, that must be wand.

*Bang!*

Marlana stared in shock as her wand was no longer in her hand.

“I really don’t like bitches who don’t understand their place”

I could sense the coldness in Lily’s voice as she forced Marlana to kneel in front of her, her gun aimed at her head.

“Lily its ok. I was in no way in danger. Plus it’s my fault anyway so put the gun back on the table.”

Lily gave me a concerned look which I returned with a hard stare. With a humph, she dispelled the spell she placed on Marlana and walked back to her couch. I also cancelled the spell on Artura and took my seat.

“You two… are really powerful. Honestly, I’m shocked. Truly just who are you Bryan? I can’t even say my identify spell would help against you.”

“They don’t even understand how powerful you really are Carl Sama.”

“Quiet for a bit Lily, you’re really starting to make things bad.”

I pinched my forehead as I tried to think about the current situation. Speaking of which.

“The guards aren’t coming in. Did you place a spell on them?”

I looked towards Lily who had a smile on her face.

“No, rather I delinked this reality from the outside world, so nothing would be able to reach us.”

“WHAT!? YOU DID WHAT NOW!?”

“WHAT! ... HOW! ... WHEN!?????”

I ignore the two girls who were screaming in shock. Well, since we were in this room, I guess I can probably tell them about me. I mean, I need more info on this world and just because I’m strong does not mean I can’t die. Well, guess it’s time to gamble.

I snapped at the two girls whose mouths was hanging wide open. The two looked at me and I stared deeply into their eyes.

“I’ll cut you guys a deal. If you let me place a secrecy spell on the both of you, then I will gladly tell you my story. As for helping you, well. I have my own agendas but I can give a helping hand or two. I still don’t like your attitude from earlier nor that surprise attack. Now how about it, do you want to make the contract or no”

The two girls looked at me in fear. Whoops, I let out my bloodthirst. Honestly, I can control it during a battle but not when I’m excited. Sigh… I need more training, but for now time to get this done. I quickly lowered my bloodthirst and before I knew it, both Marlana and the queen fell to the ground. Whoa, I really hope their ok.

“I… I…”

Huh. Artura was trying to say something. I got closer to her and sure enough, I could see her face was white.

“I… ac…cept the contract”

She barely whispered those words as I could see her shaking, tears falling from her eyes. Wait, doesn’t this make me look like I’m forcing them? Well, oh well. At least now, I can possibly have a good start and good connection in this world.
