Arc 2 Chapter 4: Normal Passing Days

Arc 2 Chapter 4: Normal Passing Days

Three boring weeks had passed since I met with Loki. I felt my strength return to me as I woke up. I also noticed that my body had returned to being a male, all by itself. Lucky! At least now, I’m least likely to be targeted by Freyja.

“It’s good to see you well, master.”

I look at the maid in front of me. It was Emily, Sara’s daughter. I believe it’s been a month since we saved her. Honestly, you expected her to still be traumatized, but Lily managed to help her out. I also did my best, making sure that she got the proper care she needed. Because of that, she was able to overcome her hardship and soon became the head maid of the house. I’m truly glad that she recovered well with the help of everyone.

“You too Emily. Are you doing well?”

“Yes master. The people around me are really nice, so I’ve been able to work well.”

She gave the brightest smile I’ve ever seen on her. I couldn’t help but pat her in the head. Yeah, I still like patting people in the head.

“Well, don’t overwork yourself ok. If you need to rest, just tell one of the other maids.”

“Hai!”

With a clear response, she quickly left the room. I swear though, she looked kind of feverish. Maybe it’s just me. Getting some clothes on, I departed from my room and went into the kitchen. There, other maids could be seen.

“Eh, Carleton Sama! Are you sure you should be up right now?”

The head chef Sam quickly dropped what he was doing and went over to me. I quickly calmed him down.

“I’m ok now. As you can see, I’m back to my old form.”

“Well, I can see that. But are you sure you should be walking around?”

“It’s better if I start walking now. I don’t want to always lie around and lose my strength now would I?”

The head chef began laughing.

“Of course master. Since you’re here master, would you mind tasting my dishes for today?”

“Gladly.”

After about thirty minutes of testing out different types of dishes, I finally parted with him. Just to think, he was one of the few prisoners that was kept by the bandits. Then again, most of the workers in this mansion were previous prisoners. Even my guards were past soldiers of the Royal Guard. I still can’t believe they quit their job just to join me. If you look at it from the kingdoms perspective, isn’t this… bad? I mean, it’s starting to look as if I’m gathering soldiers and people for a rebellion. I quickly shook that thought away. Anyway, I need to see how everyone’s doing.

“Bryan, what are you doing out of your bed!”

I turned back to see Lily. I shrugged and gave her a cheerful smile.

“I’m fine now. Plus, I need to start training my muscles again. At the rate I’m going, I might start getting rusty you know.”

“True… but still, were not sure if you’re good enough to move yet.”

“I think I’m fine… rather, where are the heroes? They can probably look at my stats and tell me if I’m fine now.”

“Oh, them. They’re currently training with the soldiers.”

That instantly piqued my interest.

“Did you make sure they’re fine?”

“Don’t worry about them Bryan. I’m sure the heroes can…”

“No, not the heroes. I’m talking about the soldiers.”

“Eh?”

She looked at me strangely. Then as if she got the idea, she began smiling.

“Ah, I see. You don’t know. Well, considering you were bed ridden for a while, you wouldn’t know.”

“Huh, know what?”

“Here, I’ll show you.”

I was quickly led to a training area. There, a surprising scene could be seen. The heroes were in a pitiful state. Their armor was shredded and their bodies seemed battered. Above them, two automatons loomed over them.

“Is that all you got? I thought you were heroes?”

“Yeah, what happened to your earlier bravado? Where those just words or were you just trying to bluff your strength to us?”

Ouch, those were really painful words to hear. Rather, seeing the soldier’s lecture the heroes… are they being taught?

“As you can see, the soldiers are fine. Rather, it’s the heroes you should worry about.”

“I… I see.”

I couldn’t help but stay shocked. I mean, doesn’t this show that my soldiers were stronger than the heroes. Does that mean they were training themselves this hard as I was stuck in my bed? One of them made eye contact with me. She immediately smiled. For some strange reason, just by looking at her. I knew who she was.

“Nana, how’s… training?”

I couldn’t help but say it awkwardly as she ran over to me, ignoring the heroes.

“It’s going rather well master. The heroes are becoming more adept at fighting us, though I should say… I was surprised they lacked form and technique.”

I again gave a wry smile. I mean, it’s understandable seeing as they took my forms and techniques from my memory. But still, being in a war with the demons. Just how have they been able to survive for this long? I began patting her in the head.

“Yeah… just make sure you don’t overwork them. I don’t want to have an angry princess at my door.”

“Don’t worry master, were currently using a teaching form we saw from your memories. There’s no way it can go wrong.”

From her words, I was immediately worried. But, if they do go too far, I’ll be there to stop them.

“Well, I guess I’ll leave it to you two. Tell them dinner will be ready at around 1800 hours”

“Hai”

“HEY FRANZ, MAKE SURE TO TAKE IT EASY ON THEM ALRIGHT!”

The other guy gave a quick salute as Nana rejoined them. As I walked away from the scene, the verbal abuse once again began. Well, at least this makes for good experience for the heroes.

[1 week later]

“Ok, try it now.”

I nodded as I began chanting out the inscription Yuusuke handed me.

“Abde stectum, lacti a’revo skolari aptevium”

I felt the mana around me begin to condense.

“Alright, now link the spell to a key word”

The word ‘Status’ came to mind. As if accepting the word, a bright blue light surrounded me. A screen then appeared.

Flash Step“Oh, it actually worked!”

I looked at Yuusuke and noticed he was hiding behind a big rock. What in the world is he doing?

“Why are you hiding behind a rock?”

“No reason, now. How does it look?”

“Check it out.”

He looked at the screen. He seemed dumbfounded for some strange reason.

“Oye, what is this? I thought your stats were… I don’t know, better.”

I shrugged.

“I told you that was wrong. There’s no way I’m actually that strong. I mean, come on. I’m just a normal person”

“I really want to say something about that, but since we finally managed to get your stats menu working, it’s time for my end of the bargain.”

“… I’m still not letting you lay a finger to any of the girls.”

“… Honestly, do I look that perverted to you… actually, don’t answer that. No, I want something else.”

“Then, what do you want?”

He smiled as he pulled out a book. He then showed me a picture with detailed descriptions on the image. It was a mana crystal. Not just any normal one, it was a catalyst.

“I heard from Lily that all your machines are powered with this. Is there any way you can make one for me?”

I gave him a dubious look. A catalyst is extremely hard to find in this world. The reason is, the material is made from legendary materials. One being, pure mana core. The other, legendary or epic monster dust. Of course, with my creation magic, I can just simply summon these, but it cost a lot of mana from making it.

“What exactly do you need it for?”

He smiled as he took out his sword.

“For this.”

He then gave it to me to look at. At first, it seemed to be a normal sword. But in the middle, there seems to be a socket. I see, so you can place crystals on these. Wait, but wouldn’t an element crystal be more appropriate?

“You’re probably thinking what use is a catalyst on the sword right?”

“Yeah, I mean. Wouldn’t a fire crystal or any other type of crystal fit this sword better?”

“It would, but let me show you a little secret.”

He took the blade back. He then walked up to a nearby tree. Without any form of incantation, the blade was coated in flames. Then, the flames quickly disappeared and was surrounded by blue fluids that seemed to move around the blade’s edges. I was honestly surprised. Without any form of elemental crystals, he was able to activate two different types of magic on his sword.

“Surprised? I was too when I first did this.”

“What did you do?”

He smiled.

“It’s one of my new skills, Elemental formation. It allows me to use magic on any magic based weapon without using any crystals”

I slowly clapped my hands in admiration.

“Wow, that’s… pretty op”

“Please, I don’t want to hear that from you, mister I can create whatever the fuck I want.”

I gave a wry smile.

“Anyway, if you can already do that, why do you need the catal… oh, I see”

At first, I honestly didn’t understand his use for the catalyst. But then it occurred to me…

“Basically, you need the catalyst so you won’t have to consume any useless amount of mana”

“Precisely! With the catalyst, I would be able to use the magical property of the sword without using any mana. It would become the strongest weapon I would have in my inventory.”

“I see… but this basically destroys your restriction. If I give you this, you would have enough power to destroy an entire battalion.”

“Come on! Pretty please. It’s not like I’m going to use it for evil. Plus, you’re here. If I do go out of control, I want you to keep me in line alright. I’ve been long enough with you for you to know that even I have a sense of pride and honor.”

“Ahh… fine, alright. I’ll do it.”

I looked through my inventory and took one of the spare catalyst I have.

“Here.”

“Eh? That quick?”

“I had some spares with me.”

“… how many do you have exactly?”

“83 no… probably 100”

“… Cheat.”

“Aye, you want me to take the catalyst back.”

“I’m joking, come on, take a joke.”

He gave a laugh as he jokingly punched my shoulder. I sighed. Really, this guy.

“Speaking of which, are you joining us in the meeting next week?”

“Nah, I have to help my knights prepare. With the empire amassing on the borders, it’s only a matter of time before the war starts.”

“True… anyway, let’s get back. Everyone’s probably getting worried.”

“Yeah.”

I then turned around and began heading for the compound.

They really should be worried. I guess lady luck was with us today

With a sigh, Yuusuke also followed after Bryan, relieved that the highly unstable spell was safely accomplished.

Authors Note:

First of all, again. Sorry for the late update. From this point on, I’m going to keep writing the rest of the chapters. The next few chapters will be just preparation, so it might be a bit boring. But just wait, since after the preparation section, it’s going to be a fun arc :D actually, instead of arc, I might change them to volumes. O well.

P.S: Give a heartfelt clap to my editor for waiting this long.

Editor: Also sorry for taking too long to edit this as I have been spending a lot of time IRL doing many things and sorting out my life but it has quieted down now and I am currently free.

P.P.S Give another heartfelt clap for the author as he waited for a long time as well for me to edit this.

On another note, the next chapter is almost done. But, I still have to wait for editor. Also, this chapter is a little boring. Probably the next couple chapters too, but I need to do them. After that, well, it'll get more exciting. As for the mature content, I'm postponing everything until I complete this arc, so wait till then.

Forgot to say in the description, I promise you. Bryan did not get nerfed. I repeat, Bryan did not get nerfed.
