Arc 1 Chapter 2: The Fallen Kingdom

When was the last time I’ve fought someone? Three weeks… no four. I honestly couldn’t remember, but I do remember that this fight was nothing compared to the fights in my world. Honestly, in a world filled with monsters, you would think that humanity would unite. Instead, we were fighting each other for the last remaining resources possible.

How stupid really. Even in this world, apparently people are still fighting each other even though the demons were attacking. Why? I don’t know. Land, Resources, Money, Power. None of this I care for, yet everyone aside from me seems to seek these four things. Why? Protection, family, peace… An Irony really. An Irony that I just can’t understand. Just what am I missing? I couldn’t help but think as I made my way back to the house.

“You’re late!”

I look over to Lily who was glaring at me like a tiger hunting for its prey. Before I knew it, she dashed towards me and lifted me off the ground forcing me to look at her.

“Spill it. Who were those people and what’s going on?”

I could feel her hands clench my shirt tighter. Well, I guess she has reasons to be mad. I practically had her in the dark for the past week. I sighed.

“Put me down first and I’ll get some drinks to go with our talk, ok.”

She bit her lower lip, thinking. After a few seconds she then placed me down and sat on one of the chair.

“No more straying from the topic and you better not Lie.”

I could sense a slight bloodthirst coming from her. Yeah she’s mad. I quickly went over to the fridge and took out the soda I had prepared earlier. I then gave her a cup as I sat beside her. She quickly drank the cola, a refreshing smile on her face. When it comes to food and drinks, Lily always calms down without even knowing it herself. I couldn’t help but smile as I see her face loosened.

“Now, talk. I want to know what’s going on.”

“Well, how much do you know so far?”

She gave me an exasperated look as if to say ‘really?’

“All I know is that, WE WERE ATTACKED BY PEOPLE SEARCHING FOR YOUR SO CALLED FALLEN QUEEN. Aside from that, NOTHING!”

She shoved her face towards me as she grabbed my collar. I raised up my hands in surrender.

“Alright, alright. Jeez, you don’t have to yell. Also, your face is too close… sigh.”

I quickly began explaining what I found over the week. Apparently, a neighboring kingdom managed to find a relic that bestowed its troop’s powers as long as they’re within its radius. With this, they managed to succumb three of the surrounding kingdoms, including the kingdom of Gaul. The queen managed to escape, but her subjects were forced to cover her retreat. Now, the kingdom is under strict rule by what is now known as the Holy Asvarian Empire.

“Hmm… that really doesn’t make sense.”

Lily now looks at me, eyes filled with curiosity.

“Why are they fighting now? Aren’t they fighting against the demons?”

“It’s true that there fighting against the demons, but humans are humans. Don’t you remember that in our world, its survival of the fittest? Either you were strong or you lose everything. Everyone was a part of this, humans or monsters. That’s why I’m honestly not surprised this happened in this world too.”

She still doesn’t seemed convince as she went into a deep thought.

“Hmm… I guess that’s a fair answer, but as far as I can see, the humans in this world don’t seem to be like that. Their more… understanding, patriots really in the fact that their specie is united against the demons.”

I sighed as I pat her in the head. Though she’s an all divine being, sometimes she can’t understand most of human logic. She aimed a pouty face towards me.

“What is this condescending feeling…? I feel as if your eyes are pitying me! Hey… listen to me… mou…”

I kept patting her in the head as she continued to pout. Ahh… this really feels nice.

“I know being a divine and all, you still can’t really understand us, but just take my word. When push comes to shove, humans will always stab you in the back… though I have to admit, there are special cases.”

I smiled which seems to have gotten a reaction from her. She instantly quieted down as I continued to pat her.

“Well, at least I know part of what’s happening, but I’m still wondering. Why did they decide to attack the neighboring kingdoms now?”

“Actually, they did this six year ago.”

“Ehh…”

She gave me a blank look.

“Wait, what?”

“I can tell why you’re surprised. Actually, I was surprised too, until I went out myself.”

“YOU WENT OUT FROM THE ISLANDS! HOW?”

She could barely hide her shock as she stood up from the couch.

“I simply floated down to the continents and sped through the entire area. Speaking of which, there were some good fruits grow…”

“I don’t care about the fruits right now! Ugh… really, if I don’t watch over you twenty-four seven, I always lose track of you.”

She did a face palm as she shook her head in a disapproving tone. I shrugged.

“I couldn’t help it, I was really curious, especially after I looked into the queen’s memories.”

She looked at me in an even more reproachful way.

“First you leave me from an adventure, then you go and peep into another girls dreams… honestly, do you have no decency.”

“You know, you’re making it sound as if I do nothing but bad things?”

I could see her trying to contain herself as she clenched her teeth and took short quick breaths.

“Just tell me what you found.”

“Nah… I’ll just show you instead.”

I laughed to myself as she quickly changed from furious to mildly irritated. Honestly, her emotions flow out too easily. She was already familiar with the process I was going to do as she relaxed herself on the chair and closed her eyes. I then went behind her and began to gather the mana in my hand.

“[Animus Inplico].”

I felt images surround me. Like a holographic command center, screens popped all around us. Of course, this was all in our minds so people from the outside would only see me holding on to both Lily’s temple. I began sifting through the images until I made it to a select few.

“This is…”

I could feel Lily’s surprise as we are shown a view of the Gaulic kingdom. It was a castle made of pure diamond. Of course the houses were fashioned in a medieval style with wood and stone, but the castle walls and the fortresses that guards the houses were made of pure diamond. To top it off, the surrounding area was filled with trees of varying sizes as well as a river that acted as a moat. Truly a marvelous spectacle.

“Beautiful isn’t it?”

The image instantly moved to show a tall man. He looked pretty slim, but his clothes showed that he was a person of high authority. Not only that, he seemed to emit an aura that can even be felt by me. Judging from Lily’s slight shudder, she could also feel his aura.

“Someday, you will be ruling over this beautiful city. That’s why, grow into a beautiful and strong queen who will be worthy to rule over it, alright.”

The man smiled as he reached over our head and began to pat us. I could tell that the owner was happy as a quick “uhm” could be heard. Then the image shifted. Fires were raging everywhere, houses laid collapsed. The once green scenery was nothing more than a barren wasteland. The image then began moving and finally a door could be seen. Two knights were there and soon opened the two huge doors. Inside, laid the person, but now he harbored a wound on his chest.

“FATHER!”

We quickly approached the wounded man. The surrounding was very serious. The people around us gave sad and angry faces, yet the one smiling out of all of them was the wounded man.

“Miselle, I thought I told you not go here.”

He patted our heads again but quickly stopped when he started coughing out blood.

“f…fat…ther.”

I once again felt the pain in my heart as the memories supplied its dose on us.

“It’s ok Miselle… rather, I’m just glad you’re still ok. That’s why remember our promise ok.”

“Why…”

The man looked at us. I felt small drops from my eyes as they fell to floor beneath us.

“Why do you sound as if you’re dying?”

“Shh… honey don’t say that… everything is going to be alright… that’s why just let me rest a bit ok.”

The man once again gave a smile. Everyone around us also had tears in their eyes. This man must have been respectable in his time.

“MY LORD THEY ARE COMING!!”

A knight quickly enters. You could hear blades whistling and metals clashing. Screams also echoed through the chambers. We turned back towards the man and suddenly I saw a fire kindle in his eye. He then took out his sword and used it as a walking stick.

“Miselle… urgh… come with…. With me.”

He began to lead me towards the throne. I looked back to see that everyone was now facing the door.

“Na tous skotósoume ólous” (Kill them all)

A wide cheer could be heard as the door suddenly exploded. I saw several figures pouring through as blades clashed once again.

“Hurry… cough, cough.”

My gaze was torn from the battlefield as we quickly arrived on the throne. The man then inserted his sword into a slot. The chair swiveled to side, instantly opening a tunnel. You can even say it was a slide of some sort.

“Sir. Drake, come.”

One of the knights quickly approached. The man looked into the knights eyes with authority.

“Take care of her ok.”

He then smiled.

“Wait, father wh…”

Then darkness. I skimmed past this and quickly went to the next memory. The memory of her waking up. We were now in a forest. We were alone. The knight wasn’t even here. It was only until we made it to the river that we found the remains of the knight. I could feel the girls fear as she saw several dogs eat away at the corpse. His death must have been pretty quick considering the arrows on his head and his body. I skimmed forward again. This time, we were in a different area. It was a much darker forest than the last. It has been six weeks for the girl. She’s been walking nonstop, eating whatever she can find and drinking water from any available places. She had a very monotone look on her face as the life seemed to have been sucked from her.

“Hello.”

We stopped. Our view slowly turned around until an old lady could be seen.

“My, what happened to you? Are you ok?”

I ended the memories there. I then switch to my memories and showed her everything I saw. Corruption. Everywhere I looked was corruption. The women were treated like things, and many of the men were forced into labor camps. The kids were also forced to do jobs just to make a measly coin. What was worse was that none of them seemed to have control over their lives. They were just like… me.

“STOP!”

I quickly blanked as I fell on my back. All of a sudden I felt someone in front of me. It was Lily, and she somehow clung to me without even knowing it.

“I’m sorry… I’m sorry I made you remember… I’m sorry…”

I placed my hands on her face. I wiped the tears that were falling from her eyes.

“It’s alright. I didn’t really pay attention to it when I was there, but I guess I did now.”

I gave her a wry smile as she continued sobbing on my chest. She was really sensitive to me, though I have to say, this really those feel nice. She quickly recovered herself as I gave her another cup. I once again smiled as she gave off a relaxed sigh.

“Well, I guess that answers most of my questions. I have to say though; the people were being treated bad huh.”

“Yeah… I really didn’t enjoy my stay there. Though I did manage to make a couple of good contacts.”

“Good? Yeah, those are good contacts. That was the rebel army right? Honestly, one week and you’ve already managed to ingrain yourself into this worlds conflict… what happened to staying quiet?”

“I did say that… but I didn’t say I wouldn’t intervene with the human side.”

I gave her a wink as she rolled her eyes.

“Any way, my final question. Why are you teaching her our world’s magic?”

“I thought you would ask. It’s actually quite simple… she’s going to be my test subject.”

“For what?”

Oh, now she seemed curious.

“Well… see for yourself.”

I gave out a grin as I extended my hand in front of me. I then projected a simple circuit in front of her.

“Hmm… wait, what is this? I’ve never seen this before!”

And caught. Yep, now she looks even more interested.

“Hehehehe… you like it? I’ve been researching this ever since that girl decided to become my disciple. Of course it took a while and actually required a spirit, but after getting the necessary items, I managed to make it.”

She gave off another sigh.

“Really… ever since you’ve come to this world, nothing seems quiet. You… you didn’t really mean everything that you said during the meeting didn’t you”

I winked.

“It’s better to hide some of your goals you know. It’s more fun that way.”

“Alright, I surrender. Well at least you managed to tell me everything… oh speaking of which, what do we do with her?”

She pointed at a girl lying on the corner.

“Oh… forgot about her. Hmm…”

I quickly went over and did a quick scan. Hmm… interesting. There was a second soul inside her body… actually, one of the soul was fully engulfing the other one which means… this girl is being controlled. I sent a small amount of mana to her soul. I then felt as the mana travelled from the soul towards a certain location. I see. So it’s forced manipulation.

“Hey Lily. I think you’re going to have fun with this so make it quick. I want you to torture her”

“Oh… I haven’t done this in a while. Ok, what info do you want from her?”

“Everything… oh but there’s a catch.”

She raised an eyebrow towards me.

“Don’t torture the body. Torture the soul and try to bring it here”

She fully understood what I was trying to say and gave a very sadistic smile as she licked her lips, staring at the sleeping girl.

“I see… forced manipulation huh. Well, whoever it is, they’re going to have a big surprise.”

She then took the girl’s body and used a gravity spell on her. The girl was now on the wall as Lily began taking out one tool after another. I could see hooks, swords and small daggers. If you identify them, they had many curses on them. The most important curse was the soul reaper. Basically, these didn’t go for the body. No, it harmed the soul.

“Make sure not to harm the true soul. I don’t want her dying on us in the process.”

She smiled. She then took the sickle and instantly aimed it at the girl’s legs.

“Don’t worry, I’m pretty good with my aim.”

With that, the torture session begins.

Author Notes:

Welp... I imploded making this chapter. So many rewrites... any way, this was a major info dump really, so its kind of boring in the sense, but not really... don't really know, I guess its up to y'all to decide that XD

Any way, aside from this, chapters should be coming in soon... again, I really hope I didn't make this too complicated since I know that tends to backfire. If y'all have questions, ask in comments so I can somehow answer them in the coming chapters.

Aside from that ONWARDS
