Volume 2: Chapter 31 Their first battle

At that moment, she panicked. She didn’t have any other choice!

“Puff Puff!”

Still on the surface and in Karin’s arms, Puff Puff’s ears lightly twitched. It jumped out of her arms and then disappeared after a purple magic circle suddenly appeared.

Karin panicked as she had lost the only way of communication she had. But, if Charlotte had summoned him knowing all that, than that must mean that she was in a difficult situation! She needed to inform the duke immediately!

At her call, a dark purple magic circle appeared in front of her, within it an enormous creature. Before she could even make out its appearance, she felt something grab her by her back color and was brought to the other side of the room in an instant.

The creature gently placed her down on the ground, its tongue licking her cold cheeks and rubbing its head against her.

“Puff Puff!”

Compared to its adorable small cub form, it had now turned into a large silver haired wolf, its tail and ears still the same color as well. Even though its size was nothing compared to the snake, compared to Charlotte’s ten year old body, he was huge!

But, no matter what form he took, she would be able to recognize him anywhere.

The snake was still recovering on the other side and she used this chance to take a short breather “Thank you Puff Puff. I’m sorry I dragged you in this mess, but I needed your help.” she stroked his head.

“[Mistress, please do not worry. It is the sole reason that I formed a contract with you, so that I could be of assistance. Now, please get on. Your body has been injured and moving should be hard.]”

She didn’t argue with him and climbed on his back. Her whole body was aching; she gritted her teeth and had to endure.

As soon as she lay on his back, the softness and warmth made her feel alive again.

“{Mistress, here it comes.}”

“Alright. I leave my safety to you.”

Just as they had finished speaking, the snake once again dashed their way. Puff Puff’s speed was far superior than both the snake’s and Charlotte’s. It moved like a shadow both on the ground and in the air.

The snake hissed at the two and spat out a greenish substance from its mouth. Puff Puff dodged the attack and when Charlotte looked back, the place where that green substance had landed started to rot away.

(Acid or just poison!?)

But, she trusted Puff Puff to take care of her safety. When he dodged and was suddenly attacked by its tail, he would then put up a black sinister looking barrier and escape with Charlotte on his back.

She didn’t know how long he would be able to keep this up, so each time she had the chance, she fired off any offensive spell she knew.

From black streaks of lightning to spheres, icicles, life draining spells to anything that she knew both from the game and what she had learned in this world.

Unlike the game, there was no HP bar that could tell the enemy’s life points. She just needed to keep firing off her magic until it was dead. She didn’t even know how much damage she was doing or even if what she was doing was hopeless.

But, she needed to belief. That no matter what the outcome, she at least needed to try until she fainted!

The snake rose up high as it hissed, a magic circle appeared in front of its mouth.

“[Mistress, please hold on tight]!”

Just as Charlotte gripped his fur, she felt a huge force against her as they moved at an unimaginable speed, while being chased by a huge beam of green magic mass shooting out of the snake’s mouth, or rather, the magic circle in front of its mouth.

Moving at such a fast speed, as soon as they came to a stop Charlotte gasped for air. Even she had never moved that fast before. No, even the fasted car or jet wouldn’t have been able to keep up!

“[Mistress, are you alright]?”

“Yeah…don’t worry about me.”

She forced herself to stay conscious and focus on the battle in front of her. Going up against this thing was madness in itself, but with no way to escape, she had no choice but to see it t the end!

“Listen, if the situation seems hopeless and I somehow get killed…I’m sure you can teleport back to your home village, so escape, alright?”

“[Mistress! I will stay with you till the end!]”

“No! This is an order! I don’t want to drag you down with me! Understood!?”

No matter how much he didn’t want to, as the master, he needed to obey her orders even if he didn’t want to. That was the contract he himself made with her.

He didn’t say anything else and neither did she. At least now, she didn’t have to worry too much. She had also made sure to give the three’s location to Karin before she headed out and by now they should also have been rescued. She didn’t need to worry about them.

With the last bit of mana that she possessed, she focused her attention to the snake. It was all or nothing.
