Volume 2: Chapter 30 The king of snakes

On the other side of the wall, the invisible force that had dragged her not too long ago vanished. There, she was petrified at the scene in front of her.

(Ohmygodohmygodohmygod you have got to be kidding me this is insane am I hallucinating!?)

Sure, slimes, goblins, kobolds and even gigantic spiders were fine to handle to some extent, but was god testing her?

This was, without a doubt, a trap!

It wasn’t one where the room exploded or was filled with other deadly traps. It also wasn’t a place that was filled with hundreds of monsters that could kill you. And it was definitely not a place where one could hope to find treasure!

On the other side of the wall stood a large round spacious open room. In the center of the ceiling hung an enormous purple crystal that shone light upon the room. A large magic circle that she had never seen before was carved into the ground, but, the most important thing was, the humongous snake coiled in the middle!

Even the largest anaconda she had managed to escape by a hair’s breadth in the past was like a baby compared to this one!

(Even the snake in Harry Potter wasn’t that big!)

How could something like this even exist in the first place!?

Charlotte didn’t dare to breath and walked as slowly as she could backwards as to not wake up that monstrous creature. But, as soon as she tried to go back the way she came from, cold sweat dripped down her entire body.

(The entrance got shut!)

Before, she thought it was just an illusion, but it was actually a transportation type of trap!

(If I somehow ended up on the very last floor at the final boss, I swear to god I will #&@# kill the guy who came up with this brilliant idea in my next life!)

If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

When she tried to get out and bumped with the stone cold wall, the slightest sound that she made didn’t go unnoticed by the gigantic snake.

Its eyes abruptly opened as it locked onto the intruder’s tiny body, its tongue making hissing sounds and its tail slithering on the ground, creating small earthquakes on the ground.

(--I’m &^$#@% screwed!)

-vroom!

Its enormous and long body jumped forward towards Charlotte. As frightened as she was, she quickly dodged by jumping to the left while she kept rolling until she was a distance away front it.

(That was way way way too close!)

Its scales had grazed against her arm. Any later and she would have ended up in its mouth as food!

What should she do!? She remembered that there was indeed such a place inside the ghost dungeon, and it was indeed the final floor! The 65th floor!

(And even worse, unless you beat the boss, there are no exits!)

In the game, it wouldn’t have been a problem as you could just revive and try again. But, this was a real life and death situation!

(Like hell I would even give that idea a try!)

The entire room shook and rubbles of rocks fell down. It regained its senses after having hit its own head against the wall and viciously glared with its slithered eyes at her. Even ghosts weren’t this scary!

Once again, it charged at her with even more speed!

Without a second to waste, charlotte jumped upwards this time, afraid that it might have learned its lesson as bosses usually had some intelligence. Using [shadow step], [light weight] and [physical boost] simultaneously, she managed to evade once again.

Next, she used [glide] a basic skill in the game and used it to soften her landing as she rolled onto its head. It was a truly gruesome feeling to slide against its cold hard slimy scales.

From atop its body, she quickly tried o see if her magic had any effect.

“{Turn into nothingness*DestructionForce}!”

A large thick streak of black lightning shot out of her hand and collided against its scales.

A sizzling sound and the smell of burned rotten meat hung in the air.

The snake began to violently wriggle around in pain and smacked Charlotte’s tiny body against the wall.

-Bam!

Luckily, she had placed two shields around her body. One in the front against its attack and one in the back to lessen the damage she would sustain from hitting against the wall.

“Gha-!”

Still, the impact alone was far too much for her undeveloped body to handle. She spat out a mouthful of blood as she crouched on the ground. At least, now she knew that her magic wasn’t ineffective. She still had hope, even if just the slightest glimmer. But even then she wasn’t allowed to take a break.

Even more enraged now, the snake’s ferocity multiplied by ten folds. It bared its fangs at her and, this time she felt that no matter which direction she went, it would catch her!
