“We sure are lucky~” Charlotte said as she picked up a small vial from a skeleton.
“What is that?” the three were really curious as to what it was that she was admiring it so much.
Charlotte showed it to them and explained “You guys should know what potions are, right? Well, this is a healing potion. We don’t know what might happen, so it’ll be plenty useful later on.”
They gasped. Although potions weren’t that rare, they still cost a lot of money. Well, being a member of royalty and nobility, they could easily obtain as many as they wanted. The point was that now, here, stranded in the middle of a dungeon without any preparations, this was a huge deal.
“Leo, you should keep it in case anything happens.” Whether he would use it for himself or not, she would leave that up to him. He was still the crown prince after all.
Under normal circumstances, he would have refused and told her to keep it for herself, but going by that glare she gave him before he even opened his mouth and understanding the responsibilities he had, he couldn’t even argue back.
As the future king, he felt completely helpless.
They entered another safe zone and charlotte received word from Puff Puff.
“Looks like they already arrived at the dungeon, but are currently unable to enter.”
“What do you mean?” Leila was as clueless as ever
Leo explained “It’s probably because excluding the fact that they need to be careful of any ambushes from the assassins, they also need to keep in mind that this is a dungeon filled with monsters. Also, we don’t know what type of dungeon this is so we also don’t know until where the subjugation squad has already ventured to.”
“But even if we did, going by the fact that this place is occupied by assassins, the chances that they even left after the 1st floor is low.”
“Terence is right. So even if I tell you guys, it wouldn’t do us much help.”
If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
“Then, all we need to do is patiently wait, right?”
“No, we should head back to the way we came from and move to the first safe zone.”
“Why? We can just advance furt-“
“Up ahead is someplace we can’t and will not go, lest you want an instant death. I leave the rest up to your imaginations. Let’s go. We’ve rested long enough and monsters should probably have smelled us out already.”
“Ehh!? They can smell us!?” Leila freaked out. It suddenly dawned on her why they kept moving around even if there was no need to.
Leo frowned and asked “How many?”
Terence was also alarmed by her news. That girl was acting way too calm, so he never knew whether the situation they were in was safe or dangerous. She was way too calm! “You can tell us at least that much, right?” if she told him [it would be best if you didn’t know] one more time, he swore he was going to explode!
“….alright. Since you asked for it; 2 slimes, 3 goblins, 2 kobolds and even an arachne. There, happy now?”
“….”
“….”
“…y-yeah…maybe you should have kept that to yourself after all.” He really regretted not taking her advice!
“Too late for that. Just try not to breath too loud.”
“That’s asking for the impossible….”
While she may have practiced her breathing so she could hide her presence, they didn’t. To them, it sounded the same as telling them not to breathe at all!
“Tsk. Too late, we can’t get out. They’re already close by.”
“H-how can you tell?”
Charlotte rolled her eyes. Seriously, what had they been learning while they were at the academy? “This is basic knowledge called mana sensing. Now, get ready since we have to go through them if we want to get out!”
They went into formation just like before with Charlotte leading in the front. They were frightened when they saw all the monsters had gathered in front of them. With the night vision, even if they didn’t want to, they could clearly see all the gruesome details of their appearance.
Before, all that was left was their corpse that needed to be burned. But now, since it was too much for Charlotte to handle alone, they also needed to dirty their hands.
Leila could only feel helpless as she tried not to get in anyone’s way. Up ahead, charlotte released spells after spells that they had never even heard of. But thanks to her, they only needed to deal with three to four monsters while she took care of the most.
To them, this was a nightmare and something they would never be able to forget in this life time.
“Okay, we better get moving.” She said as she swung the blood off of her knife.
“What about their corpses?” Terence asked, just to be sure.
She hesitated a little but shook her head “No, it’s already been a long time so it won’t do much. Also, since such a large group already spotted us, we need to get out of here as fast as we can.”
This was basic survival knowledge.
They took a different route even though they had the same destination as before. When they asked her the reason, she replied that it had been occupied by monsters at the moment.
They really had to ask themselves. If she was alone, would she perhaps have dived head first in that swarm?
