Volume 2: Chapter 23

“Mission accomplished.”

“Lets hurry back before anyone notices they’re missing.”

“Yeah yeah. But did we have to bring this brat along?”

Her eyes were closed and her body paralyzed, but she was fully conscious.

(Damn! I didn’t think they’d drug us!)

She remembered. They were just about to turn the alley when three figures appeared from above. Under normal circumstances, she could escape. But, Leila and Terence were their first target as Leila was the most defenseless amongst them and Terence the most dangerous for them.

With them out cold, Charlotte and Leo didn’t have a choice to go along with them lest they didn’t mind the two getting killed.

Being carried like a piece of luggage over their shoulders was uncomfortable. She didn’t know where they were being taken, but before it was too late, she sent a distress signal to Puff Puff.

Inside her room, Puff Puff was taking a nap while waiting for its mistress’ return when her voice suddenly rang in its head and woke him up.

As soon as he received the message, Puff Puff jumped off the bed and went to look for Professor Karin who had yet to leave. She was the only one who knew of her relationship with Puff Puff and had already met several times at her lessons, so she was the best choice.

Karin was tidying up her desk and was just about to leave when Puff Puff suddenly jumped in from the window into her desk.

“Puff Puff? What are you doing here?”

He kept making circles on the desk which caught her attention.

“What happened?”

“Pyu~~~”

He began to whimper and make all kinds of signs he could. The only one who could really understand what he was saying was Charlotte or anyone who was a tamer.

Luckily Karin had somewhat practiced the tamer skill and could understand a little of what he said.

“Eh!? Are you saying something happened to Lady Charlotte!?”

Puff Puff fiercely nodded his head.

“Oh lords! I’ll quickly inform the duke!” Karin dropped the bag in her hand and ran to the study.

“What!? What did you say!?”

Even Walter who was coincidentally there looked like he didn’t belief her.

While panting, she explained as much as she could “Yes! Her familiar had just told me!”

“Wait, since when did she…no, that isn’t important. Do you know where she is?’

Puff Puff had quickly followed after Karin. She looked at him for answers, but it seems like he didn’t know that much.

“And you are saying that even his highness and the other two were taken?”

“Yes. When she informed Puff Puff…her familiar, she must have still been in town as they can’t talk telepathically if they are too far apart. But…”

“I understand. Thank you for informing me. Walter, immediately notify all the knights under my control that are present. Sent a messenger to the castle and Marquise’s house as well. This isn’t something that we alone can handle. Professor Karin, I will need to trouble you to stay behind incase another message comes.”

“”Yes!””

In a split second, the festival was put to a stop. Several knights were deployed and blocked all exists from the town. But receiving no reaction, it either meant that she was currently unconscious or they had already left town.

Karin and Puff Puff helped out in any way they could. With still no sign of them in town, they sent out several scouting squads to look further.

The marquise and king had speedily received the news and sent out several search teams of their own. They moved so quickly and efficiently that the kidnappers had a hard time getting pass.

With her eyes closed, she was unable to tell where they were. And even if she did, she still wouldn’t know as she never left the mansion with the exception of those three times.

(It’s like every time I leave the house, disaster follows.)

After half a day, they finally stopped moving. Their small bodies were thrown onto the hard ground and the sound of metal clanging could be heard.

Only when she was certain that the kidnappers had left did she try to open her eyes that still felt heavy.

Their hands were tied behind their backs and as for the boys, they even had their feet tied up and their mouths covered with cloth.

Charlotte glanced around. They were probably in an underground cell, but where ever this place was located or if they were still in the kingdom of Firriët was beyond her.

Although they had a pained look on their faces after being thrown like that, other than that they seemed fine. The drug would most probably wear of around this time, so she just needed to patiently wait for them to wake up and pray that no one would come to hurt them in the meantime.

It was dark. Night had already fallen and there were no window down here. The sound of water dripping echoed throughout the cold and dark cell. Luckily she could see perfectly fine in the dark thanks to her contract with Puff Puff, but this didn’t seem too good.
