Volume 2: Chapter 25 Escape

“So what now?” Leo rubbed his wrist that had turned slightly red.

Making full use of the spell she casted on them, the two carefully studied their surroundings. A look of horror filled their eyes.

“Sorry you two. But even if I didn’t cast that spell on you guys, you would still have seen it no matter what.”

She felt a little guilty. They were still kids nonetheless, but the situation was inevitable.

This wasn’t the only cell down here. Apart from them, there were other bodies as well. Bodies that had been tortured, hacked, skinned and some even turned into nothing but bones. They were the only living ones here at the moment.

“…Are you two okay?”

“…We’re fine. What about you?” they were more worried about her since she was a girl.

From the sound of his voice, she could tell that he wanted to puke. Even Leo was forcing himself not to let out a sound. Luckily their corpses had already dried out somewhat so there wasn’t that much of a stench.

“I am alright. …but this just proves how dangerous these people are. We need to be careful. Don’t you have any idea who could be behind this?”

“No…”

“Then we are in deep~ deep~ trouble.”

“You’re not helping at all, Lotte.”

She laughed awkwardly. Ironically, they were all thankful that Leila was still unconscious. For her, this would without a doubt be too much.

Even though she could easily open the lock with her lock picking skills, what would happen afterwards? If the enemy found out, there was no guarantee for their lives.

The three of them huddled closely to Leila to keep themselves warm through the night. Because of all the tension, none of them could fall asleep.

Night passed and morning probably already arrived. With dark circles under their eyes, a metallic sound alarmed them.

They quickly put the ropes around their hands and feet to not alarm the enemy.

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

A tall robust man walked in with a fire torch. The sudden appearance of light momentarily blinded them.

The man’s face was covered in scars; he had an appearance that fit the role of a villain perfectly.

With one glance at him, Charlotte gasped. She instantly recognized that man’s identity.

“Hump, so there are four of you brats.”

Behind him, another man came forward into the light. He was tall and skinny, his face half covered by a piece of cloth.

She gasped again. She also recognized him!

“So, which one of them did that guy want?”

“The prince and the duke’s daughter. So what should we do with the rest?”

“Just get rid of them.”

Their hearts trembled! They were actually going to kill them just like that!

The huge built man let out a sinister laugh, causing the hair on Leo’s and Terence’s body to stand up straight.

He took out a ring of keys and opened the cell. Just as he was about to pull out his dagger, a small silhouette suddenly appeared in front of him. Before he knew, a heavy force hit his abdomen and he was sent flying against the wall!

“Ghu!”

“You two! Change of plans! It’s now or never!”

The meaning behind her words, they immediately understood. Leo quickly lifted Leila and Charlotte didn’t waste time and began an incantation.

“{Shadow bind!}”

Since her contract with Puff Puff, her progress in magic had skyrocketed. She was able to cast spells with just a few words or call out the name of the spell. And, thanks to the darkness surrounding them that was her source of strength, the spell took immediate effect with twice more the strength.

Before the other man even had the time to be surprised by his partner’s body suddenly flying away, something cold crept onto his body, making him unable to move and even his mouth was covered.

“Listen, these guys are a lot more dangerous than you thought. If I think they are working for who I think they are, even if Leo and I were left alive, it wouldn’t be for long.”

Charlotte hit the two with another spell that would hopefully knock them out for a while to buy time as they try to find a way out.

Terence and Leo picked up the weapons of the two and with charlotte leading the way, they made their escape.

“Do you know where you’re going?” From behind her, Leo asked worriedly.

 “…I’m not sure.”

It was dark down here as well. Thankfully her spell hadn’t worn off yet and they could easily see around.

If this is the place she thinks it was, then this was most likely the underground dungeon where a group of assassins called [seven sins] made into their hideout. She remembered that in the game, Leo and Terence as well as Leila got kidnapped by them. But it was only a short part that was used as a flashback in the game. But, this was a dungeon that the players would later explore so she had no choice but to go the way she remembered from the game’s map.

“If I’m right, which I hope I’m not, then right now we’re on the 3rd level in an underground type dungeon that’s currently being occupied by a group of deadly assassins. First, we need to look for a place to hide. Then we can think of further details.” After she said that, she didn’t speak a word further.

Even though they were starting to feel suspicious of how she knew all that, she was their friend and they trusted her.
