chapter 6

Just as Sang finished his harvest of the orbs, they could hear rustling coming from the bushes two meters ahead of them. Dante, thinking it was another Simiaranae, charged up another Acid Breath, but to their utter horror, a green miniature humanoid holding a bone staff came out of it riding on a two-headed wolf. Sang instantly pulled out what looked to be a gun from inside his suit jacket and fired it. Dante’s thoughts questioned everything again, like, “How the fuck is it okay for a kid to be packing heat?” And then the loud as fuck plasma bullets put holes in what looked to be a barrier. Not waiting on orders, Dante fired off his Acid Breath inside of the holes. Just like that, both the wolf and green miniature humanoid melted, leaving behind bones.

“Morning, be on the lookout. A shaman is never alone. There should be some barbaric goblins lurking about.” It seemed Sang’s gun didn’t need ammunition as he looked ready to fire it again. Dante was still in shock seeing Sang with that gun and the fact he just used it to try to kill something. Wherever the other goblins were, they weren’t about to make themselves known. Sang just stayed on guard as they traveled through the woods.

As we finally exited the dense, shadowy woods, the sunlight poured over us like a warm embrace, revealing a figure walking towards us on the dusty path. Sang suddenly halted, his cautious nature kicking in. His eyes narrowed as he muttered, “Goddamn it, I think that’s Rose. I left home to get away from her, and now she is following me.” His voice was tinged with frustration and weariness.

Sang turned to Dante, his face etched with pure exhaustion, the kind that comes from running away from something you can’t escape. Before he could make another move, a girl with pale blue eyes seemed to teleport in front of us, her arms wrapping around Sang in a fierce hug that sent them both tumbling to the ground.

Dante watched in surprise as the girl, Rose, clung to Sang. She wore a fancy, frilled black dress that contrasted sharply with her platinum blonde hair, which fell in elegant curls to her shoulders. Her appearance was almost ethereal, like a porcelain doll come to life.
