The receptionist had Sang’s adventurer identification card ready as they entered the building. As Ms. Kathryn, the receptionist, handed Sang the card, she instructed him on how to use it by dropping some of his blood on it. As Sang did as instructed, it shined a brilliant white before a holographic text showed up.

Ms. Kathryn gasped, her eyes widening in awe. “Supreme growth rate,” she whispered, shaking her head in disbelief before fanning herself to regain composure. Sang deactivated the hologram, slipping the card into his pocket with a nonchalant air. As he walked away, whispers filled the room, and envious glances followed him. Without wasting any time, they exited the building.
Outside, the air was crisp and filled with the scent of blooming flowers. The sun cast a warm glow over the bustling street, where vendors shouted their wares and children played. Suddenly, a voice called out, “Wait!” Sang turned to see a young girl with ashy hair, clad in tight-fitted body armor, sprinting towards them. She bent over, panting heavily, before straightening up with a determined glint in her yellow eyes. “I’m Joyce from the house of Lynch, and I want to challenge you to a duel. If I win, you will form a party with me, and if I lose, I’ll offer up my altering. So, what do you say? Do we have a deal?”
Sang’s gaze was cold and uninterested, a stark contrast to the fiery determination in Joyce’s eyes. “Sure, why not. Plus, alterings are two thousand gold each. Are you sure you want to offer it up for this simple duel?” Joyce glanced at Dante for a split second before nodding firmly. “I’m not a tamer, so it’s not really a loss on my part. So, are you ready?”
Sang sighed, taking a battle stance. Joyce drew her wand and shouted, “Immobilize!” Sang deftly rolled to the side, charging at her with swift precision. Joyce uncorked a vial, tossing it to the ground and enveloping the area in a thick cloud of white smoke. Bystanders stopped to watch, their curiosity piqued by the unfolding duel. A bright flash of light pierced through the smoke, revealing Sang pinning Joyce to the ground. She struggled briefly before conceding defeat.
“Sleep!” a voice commanded from behind Sang. His body went limp, collapsing onto Joyce. Her form shimmered and vanished, replaced by a bushy-tailed, canine-eared girl who looked identical to Joyce. She wore the same tight black battle armor and turned her head slightly, revealing predatory yellow eyes with slits. A sly smile spread across her face as she pointed her wand at Sang. “Wakening!” she shouted, and Sang groaned as he regained consciousness.
“A deal is a deal,” Sang muttered, rubbing his head. “I guess we will form an adventuring group now. I should’ve just shot your tricky ass, but let’s be honest, your illusion spells would’ve gotten innocent people killed instead. So, what now?”
Joyce helped Sang to his feet, her grip firm. “Now we go do some local rifts together.”
