Grandpa Fenilo

After he recovered a bit, he washed his face with some cold water from the bottle. Feeling better he noticed Sig was behind him.

-“Are you ok?”

-“Not really. But I will be.”

-“Anything I can help with?”

-“Not yet. Thanks for offering though”

Sig left with a worried face and Orion closed his eyes and sat in his meditative pose. He started to clear his mind and started to think of what could he do next. Orion recalled everything he knew about the competition. ‘I actually don’t know anything…The only thing that I know is what I just learned. I wonder what does Great men need people, a sword, a shield and a pen means. It probably doesn’t mean the actual objects, sword, shield, pen…’

The next time he opened his eyes it was already late. He didn’t know any more about how to win than before meditating but now he was a lot calmer and made peace with the situation. Well as much as he could in that situation. As he stared at the sunset his stomach made a loud noise. He took out some food and started eating. After eating he laid on his back and fell asleep feeling on his face the warm, pleasant wind.

The next day he was awakened by a bucket of cold water on his face.

-“Get up.”

-“What? What is going on?”

He jumped up looking around to see what the emergency is. The old man was standing still with Sig next to him. Orion was looking around and seeing that nothing is wrong he looked back to the old man.

-“Was that necessary?”

-“No. But it was funny”

-“So?”

-“I decided to train you”

-“Really?”

-“Only if you call me master.”

-“No”

-“Why not?”

-“I don’t want to call you that. If you want I will call you grandpa”

The old man was surprised and started laughing. Sig was surprised as well, but not by Orion but by the fact that his master was laughing. He never saw him laugh so loud before.

-“I like you kid. You can call me grandpa Fenilo then.”

-“Okay… grandpa Fenilo.”

-“So…before we get started you need to make a decision. Follow me”

Orion followed Fenilo into the house. As soon as he entered the door he was surprised by what he saw. There were stairs that led down to a long corridor. There were many doors on the side. Finally they reached an iron door. Fenilo opened the door there was a large room inside. On the wall there were all sort of weapons. From the smallest knife to the biggest axe. On one wall there were other items that looked like pieces of armor.

-“To be able to begin you must first choose your weapon. Then I can teach you how to use it.”

-“Can I only chose one?”

-“Well, no. But the more weapons you chose the more time you will spend training with me. Of course you can only learn how to use one weapon at a time, so chose carefully. After mastering one weapon you can chose another. You have one day to decide. Come to me when you have made your decision. ”

Orion accepted. He spent the next day looking over all the weapons. He tried to take some of the weapons off the wall but couldn’t. He could take the smaller ones like knives, daggers and even swords but maces and large axes couldn’t. It seems that Orion didn’t have high enough stats to use them.

He tried to swing around the weapons to get a feel for them. In the end he was comfortable with two weapons, the dagger and the sword. He picked up two swords and tried to use them both. He was more comfortable than using one since the two swords gave him some balance. The daggers were similar. He tried to use a sword in one hand and a dagger in another. He felt that this was perfect for him.

He went to Fenilo and told him of his choice.

-“Interesting. Are you sure this is your choice? It will take longer to master”

-“Yes, I’m sure”

-“I understand. Then tomorrow morning we start. I need to make a plan suitable for your choice”

The next day Orion was awake before Fenilo. He waited for him outside. Not long after Fenilo appeared next to him.

-“Take this”

He gave him a heavy black sword, four bracelets and some clothing.

-“Where is the dagger?”

-“First you need to learn how to use a sword properly. This sword is made from a special material that when not used properly it gets heavier and also hurts the user”

-“What do you mean it will hurt me?”

-“You will see…Now I have two choices for you. One, you can learn the same way Sig did but it will take longer. Or…..”

-“Or ?”

-“Or you can master a weapon faster but it will be a lot harder. This is how I learned by the way.”

Behind the grandpa , Sig was white as a sheet and shaking his head. Fenilo turned around and saw Sig.

-“Haha as you can see, Sig tried the hard way…and well I had to make an easier way for him.”

-“I need to learn as fast as possible”

-“If you are sure….”

Fenilo went back into the house and brought back some black bracelets and black clothing.

-“As you probably realized these items are similar to the sword. The bracelets and clothing won’t get heavier like the sword but they will hurt you if you don’t move properly. This material as I said is special. It knows what the user is capable and brings out the users full potential.”

-“Where did you get it from?”

-“It doesn’t matter right now does it?”

Orion put on the black clothes and bracelets. As he moved even the slightest he felt like was being hit with a bat. Seeing Orion’s face keep changing from the pain the old man laughed slightly.

-“You see how much wasted movements you have? Each time you don’t use your body properly you will be punished.”

Orion fell back on his back and didn’t move. He was a bit upset but was wondering how could such a weapon master live here. His thoughts were interrupted by Fenilo

-“Before we actually get started you must learn how to move. When it no longer hurts to move and you can do anything you could without the suit, then I will start teaching you how to properly use the sword”

Fenilo and Sig both sat down and started watching Orion. As soon as Orion moved his face twisted in pain and Fenilo and Sig both smirked. They were enjoying the show. Orion tried to first use his hands without his whole body hurting in pain. After an hour he could only get up. As he did a window appeared in front of him.

He decided that in order for him to focus better he needed to remove distractions. So after a minute he finally succeeded in making the windows stop appearing until he reaches in Body Control the Master rank. Now he won’t get interrupted by the windows but Sig and Fenilo were still distracting him with their whispers and grinning. He decided to ignore them as much as possible.

He got up again and started to walk. As soon as he took a step his whole body was in pain again. He repeated this for a few hours before finally being able to walk a few meters without his whole body screaming in pain. While walking around he noticed that Fenilo was gone. ‘I have a bad feeling about this’

Fenilo soon appeared with a table, some chairs and set them in front of the house. He went back inside and this time he brought out food and drinks. In a few minutes there was a huge table full of food and drinks.

-“I believe it’s time to celebrate meeting out new friend.”

-“Yes master. A great idea”

Orion saw them winking at each other. ’I must have imagined that’. They sat down grinning and looking at Orion. They young elf headed to the table but just before he reached the table he made a wrong move and again he felt pain and stopped, just like he was frozen in time. The master and apprentice both started laughing as hard as they could.

Soon Orion was confident again in moving without pain and somehow succeeded in sitting down. As he sat down the laughing stopped. Orion looked at them and saw that they were staring and then Fenilo spoke up.

“-Eat. I prepared this all for you. You are going to need to eat as much as possible to be able to finish the training”

-“I see. Thank you.”

-“No problem pffff”

He started laughing again. He tried to hold himself back but couldn’t. Orion didn’t know what was going on but he was hungry and didn’t care. He picked up some meat. And as he took it to his mouth he felt a sharp pain in his arm that made him drop the meat. Seeing this they laughed and then Sig said

-“Master. I believe you hahahhaha, I believe you should tell him.”

-“Haha, i just wanted to see it first”

-“Tell me what”

Orion tried to pick up food again and as he took it to his mouth the pain reappeared.

-“Is there something wrong with the food?”

-“No… the food is fine. Why do you think you can’t put the food in your mouth”

-“I don’t know, no matter how much I try I keep getting hurt”

-“Haha….it’s because eating it’s more complex than it looks. You see when you lift a piece of meat for example, you use a certain amount of power. By the time you get used to using that amount of power you either drop the meat or you put it in your mouth. You need to be able to know how much is the perfect amount of strength to lift anything by just looking at it.”

Orion kind of understood what Fenilo was trying to say but every time he tried to bring a piece of meat to his mouth he failed. Feeling annoyed he just picked up and without thinking he showed the food in his mouth. He was surprised that he didn’t feel any pain. He tried again. This time the pain wasn’t so bad but it was still present.

He kept succeeding and failing multiple times. After finishing Orion got up and started to take a walk for a while on the edge of the lake. He still felt pain from time to time but now he could walk for a while if he concentrated. He tried to do some other basic movements like crouching, jumping but he still felt pain 95% of the time. The worst part of failing when jumping was the fall. Especially when he started to feel pain while he was in the air, his whole body froze from the pain and he fell like a rock.

He spent a whole week doing basic movements. After the first day he could walk without needing to concentrate and could run with no problems as well. The second day he could crouch without any problems. The third day he could jump, the fourth he could do all of these without feeling pain. The fifth day he succeeded in doing pushups. The sixth day he could finally eat only feeling pain 30% of the time. Finally at the end of the week he could do any movements, even eating without any problems just like before having the suit on. Then a message window popped up. He forgot about setting them to not show until he reached reached master in Body Control.

Fenilo smiled and nodded approvingly when he saw Orion eat without his face twisting in pain.

-“Congratulations. You completed the first step.”

-“Thank you.”

-“You have one day free tomorrow. There will be no training. Tomorrow you can also take of the suit.”

-“Really?”

-“Yes. You can also go into the forest without any worries now. Nothing in that forest will be able to even scratch you. Trust me.”

After finishing dinner Fenilo even gave Orion a room in his house. Until now he slept outside but now he had a comfy bed and as soon as he put his head on the pillow he fell asleep. The next day came in the blink of an eye.

Orion was now not wearing his suit and was enjoying every moment of it. He became a lot faster. His agility didn’t increase but this time he could actually use it properly.

-“Wow…This is amazing. I wonder if I keep raising the skill how much faster would I get.”

He didn’t only got faster, he could control his whole body better. He could grab a leaf that was falling from mid-air with only two fingers. His speed and control were amazing. Even Sig was amazed as he watched Orion jumping and running around.

Orion stopped and then pulled out a map. The map that leads to the merchants stash. He figured it was time to finish that quest since it was close. The location from what he saw was somewhere on the edge of this forest. He put everything he didn’t need in the inventory and told Sig and Fenilo that he will be back later.

Orion ran into the forest at an amazing speed. Sig tried to go with him but couldn’t keep up. He only saw Orion getting further and further away from him. Then he lost him. Orion was enjoying himself, feeling the wind in his hair as he moved with amazing speed and precision. This time he reached the edge of the forest in a few minutes. When he reached the point where days before was standing, not knowing what is in the forest he stopped and looked around.

He looked at the map again and when he knew the approximate location of the stash he headed towards it. He headed a bit south then into the forest. As he did he saw a small goblin with a collar on it. He found it weird and looked around more carefully. He saw a small cave in front of him and there were also some more goblins with collars on them. Collars that were marked with the slave symbol. He knew that this was the place, the merchants stash.

‘The merchant probably paid someone to capture creatures and then enslaved them and made the creatures guard his stash. He must have been very rich to afford to capture creatures and then enslave them just to guard his stash.’

Using his speed he got closer and went inside and try to see what is, that the merchant tried to protect.
