Road to Raiko
Orion couldn’t leave just yet, no matter how much he wanted to. He wanted to loot everything. Just like back in the garbage room he started to make piles. After 6 hours of sorting and searching he finally finished. However this time one pile was different than before. It was a pile of almost naked people in the back of the cave. In the center there were piles of weapons, armor, books and scrolls, coins and gems, and finally everything else he found.
As he started identifying and repairing everything a notification popped up.
Your growth period will now enter the final stage. You will fall asleep and the next time you wake up you growth period will be over. After you wake up your body will be fully matured and you will receive access to an inventory just like all the chosen ones.
Time left: 5hours(real time)
Jake got out and went out to eat at a restaurant. He ordered a large steak. After eating he returned home took a shower and searched the web for more information. He found out that there is a new channel that focuses on the game. He turned on the TV and started searching. When he found it, there was the lady who installed his system talking to a man.
It seems that the man was a player just like him. He started talking about certain details of the game.
They started talking about magic. It seems that some players discovered and learned many types of magic. Unfortunately none could be used for attacking someone directly.
Jake was shocked. He listened carefully to every word being said and somehow had a bad feeling about the man. He turned off the TV and went to sleep. When he got up he entered the game wanting to see what else happened.
Orion opened his eyes and looked at himself. In front of him windows appeared notifying him he leveled up. He reached level 26 and had 125 stat points to use. After using his stat points he checked his status window.

He had a level of 26 but with his stats were that of a level 36 player. He then looked at his skills and noticing Illusion Shift he looked at the description.

He then closed the windows. Then he looked at himself. He was almost naked since he grew quite a bit. He picked up some clothes that fitted him and decided to check the inventory. As he said inventory, a window appeared in front of him. The window was separated in small 5x5 squares. In the lower corner there was the weight displayed, 0. Next to it was another 0.He tested a few things and it seems that he could put 99 of the same item in one cell, just like in other games. The first number was the weight and the next one was the money.
He took everything out and started looking through the piles. He first picked up the books. After identifying them all, he found two books that shocked Orion. One was to increase his inventory, and one was to reduce the weight of the item by half for anything under 5 kg. As fast as he could he used the books and now his inventory was 6x6. He then looked at the armors and clothing.
He used identify and repair on all of them. They were like brand new. Out of all of them Orion found a pair of boots, pants and a chest armor.

He then sorted through the weapons. There were no good weapons. Orion still took one just in case. Then came the last pile. There were a few common ores, some glass flasks, keys , some merchant bags and other miscellaneous items. Orion then turned to the coins and gems. After counting them he had 174 gold coins, 27 silver coins and 73 copper coins. He didn’t know how much the gems were worth. He put the coins and gems in the inventory.
Orion didn’t know yet but with one gold coin he could buy a decent level 20 armor. It seems that the bandits were quite active and earned quite a lot. He was feeling a bit guilty taking the money and items since they were stolen but the owners were probably dead.
After a few hours of identifying and repairing he finally finished. All he had to do now was carry them to the city and sell them. He tried to put everything in his inventory but couldn’t. There were too many items. In the end he only put into the inventory some of the heavier weapons, gems and money. The rest was put into the merchant bags. Thankfully the merchant bags were large and they were enchanted so that everything in the bag weighted half at the cost of 50% agility. After putting everything in bags he had two large bags. Each bag was as large as him. He put the bags on his back and slowly went to the exit of the cave.
As he reached the exit he saw that it was noon. He felt on his face the warmth of the sun. And as his eyes got used to the light he saw that he was in a forest. He soaked in the beauty and then put the bags down and went back in. He approached the pile of bodies that started to smell and set them on fire. Orion ran fast out of the cave. At the exit he destroyed part of the wall and the entrance collapsed sealing the entrance.
He picked up the bags again and started heading straight ahead. He was moving very slowly since the bags were heavy. After a few minutes he heard a river nearby. Orion headed to the river since following it might lead to civilization. Ten minutes later he arrived at the river. He put down the bags and took his clothes off.
The young man entered the river and washed himself. The water was chilly but the young man didn’t care. He could finally wash off the stench, sweat, blood and dirt of his body. After cleaning himself he felt refreshed he sat down on a rock nearby the river to dry up. After his skin was dry he put his clothes back up.
Before heading out he tried using Illusion Shift. As soon as he did a small model of himself appeared in front of him. It was like a small hologram. As soon as he thought something the model changed. After an hour of modifications he finally finished. As he finished a window appeared asking him to name the new persona created. He named it “Merchant”.
He then used Shift to change to his Merchant persona. In the blink of an eye he changed from a handsome elf to an older human. He now had black hair, brown eyes. He had a small beard and was no longer slim. Orion now was now a bit overweight. Even the clothes were realistic. He could touch the clothes and they felt just like the real thing. Satisfied with the result he kept this persona since he didn’t know how elves were treated in the city.
After heading upstream for an hour he finally saw something man made ahead. A small bridge over the river. As he got up on the bridge he didn’t know which way to go. Left or right. While thinking he saw a cart pulled by a man approaching. He didn’t know if it was an enemy or not until he got closer. He wasn’t wearing any armor. He had a small scar on his face and was bald. He looked pretty old but was pretty muscular.
As he got closer Orion asked:
-“Excuse me fine sir, would you be willing to tell me where the closest city is?”
-“Hm?“ The old man studied Orion and seeing the two large bags on his back responded with a smile.
-“The closes one would be Raiko. I’m headed there as well to sell some of my wares. If you are willing to help me pull this cart you can put your bags next to mine.”
-“Thank you. Oh I almost forgot…my name is..uhh Norio”
He made up a name for his persona. He didn’t want to use his real name since he didn’t really trust the man in front of him.
-“Oh yes. My name is Fanor”
Orion or Norio how he was now known put his bags on the cart and marked them with his name using mana paint. He then went to the front and helped to pull the cart. On the way they talked very little as they were tired from pulling the cart.
-“So, Norio what business do you have in Raiko?”
-“Selling some stuff”
-“Are you a merchant like me?”
-“I’m just a beginner, I just recently decided on this path”
-“I see….do you want me to teach you a few things?”
-“That would be great. Thank you”
As they continued Faron kept teaching Orion about prices and items. As they talked Orion finally realized how much money he had and after selling all the items he would have even more. He had more money than some nobles.
After few hours of pulling the cart and resting, Orion could finally see a city ahead. As he got closer he realized it was quite big. There were no walls surrounding the city but the entrance could clearly be seen from afar. There was a large stone arch with 2 guard underneath it. As they approached it the guards glanced toward Orion and Faron then looked away. They entered the city and stopped.
-“Thank you for your help Faron. I will need to go now”
-“Thank you as well. If you want to sell something I will be in the market district all week. I will make you a good deal”
They went their separate ways. It seems that some people really can be trusted, Orion was thinking as he carried the two large bags.
