Vol.1 Chapter 4-The Breakthrough

The Breakthrough

Now Orion was staring at the bags in front of him. The amount of items to repair was doubled compared to what he received earlier. He started with the first item. After identifying it he repaired it. When he ran out of mana he meditated. While meditating Orion tried to use what he read online but he couldn’t do it. At the end of the day after repairing all the items he earned another level in Identify, Repair, Meditate. He also increased some of his stats.

He didn’t want to help them, but he had to repair the weapons so he found a trick. Orion didn’t use his Repair skill to its full capacity. He always left his mana to regenerate only to a certain point before using it. He only repaired them as if he had the skill at a beginner level 5. By only using small amount of mana he could control how much durability is restored. The more mana was used the more it was restored.

He spent a whole week with this routine. Every day he would get more and more items to repair, especially after the bandits go on a raid. He still didn’t have any clue about how to escape the curse and he got more and more frustrated. He needed to get rid of the curse to be able to get revenge on the scum that enslaved him and killed his parents.

He was slightly comforted by the fact that he had leveled up his skills. His Identify and Repair now reached Intermediary and Meditation reached Beginner level 9. Using repair now could repair any item to 90% of the condition it was when created and the mana was reduced by 50% when he reached intermediary.

Using meditation he increased some of the stats. His mana grew the most, but the health, strength, agility did increase as well. “Show stats”

At first he gained stats fast but they started to slow down. Now it was probably dark outside since the bandits were all gone on a raid. He muted all notifications to be able to better focus.

Orion took this opportunity to level up his meditation skill and try again to open his cells to mana and store small amounts. He sat down started to meditate. Now he won’t be disturbed by anyone for a while. As the minutes passed he entered deeper and deeper into his sub consciousness.

After an hour of meditating Orion was starting to sweat. After another hour, Orion was sitting in a puddle of his own sweat. He was focusing on keeping the mana inside his body. This was getting harder and harder the longer time passed. Two hours have passed and now Orion’s body was still sweating the only difference that this time the sweat was a shade of light blue. His sweat kept being blue for a few minutes before returning back to normal.

Then another thing happened that would look strange to anyone watching. The sweat started to evaporate. Now steam was coming out of Orion’s body. After a few minutes the whole room was full of steam. Then after an hour the body stopped releasing steam.

After 8 hours of meditating Orion finally opened his eyes. He was exhausted even though meditation should have the opposite effect. Then he looked at all the notifications he received during meditation.

Orion was shocked by the progress he made in the last hours. He hurried to the water bottle. He drank the whole bottle since his body has released massive amounts of water. After drinking he sat down and checked his skills

You are now able to use any surface to paint not just paper.

Absorbing a past creation will return 50% of the MP used.

Orion was happy. The only thing he learned from his mother, he could now use it, even in these conditions. He tried to draw on the stone walls and it was just as easy as when he tried on the paper with the brush, only this time he had plenty of mana to use. After drawing some simple things like circles, square, lines he tried to absorb the drawing back. As he did he also noticed he really got 50% of the MP used back.

Now the steam that was in the room was completely gone. The only way one would know that there was steam in the room is if you looked at the walls. They were slightly wet. Suddenly the door was knocked back. Five bandits entered each with two large bags on their backs. They dropped the bags on the floor and Cross appeared.

“Hello, my little slave. I have a present for you.”

He pointed to the bags. Orion figured that there were more items to repair and he was right.

“Repair all of these in 3 days and you will be given a day off to rest. Oh and also put everything from these two bags over there since it’s garbage.”

They all left laughing, leaving the child to repair the items. He identified all the items before trying to repair them. Orion had full mana at the moment so he had to bring it down to 20. He started to draw on the ground simple shapes first until he got the hang of this skill. When his mana reached 20 he repaired, then absorbed part of the painting until his mana reached 20 and then repaired again. When he ran completely out of mana and there was no more painting to draw mana from he started to meditate. He finished repairing the over 100 items in a day and since there were two more days until the deadline he logged off.

Jake got out of the pod and went to eat a bit and then took a shower. He was living alone now so he could play for as long as he could. His parents left him a note telling him they went overseas on a trip they won during the time Jake was playing Tale of Adventure. They would be gone for the whole summer. Jake didn’t like to travel much and now he could play even longer periods of time.

He went to bed and slept for 8 hours. He didn’t sleep this much since before he got the game. The next day he got up eat as much as he could and took a shower before entering the pod.

As soon as he opened his eyes as Orion the door opened and a bandit entered.

“I see you are done. Here’s your reward and for 24 hours you can rest.”

Every day someone came and gave him 3 pieces of bread and a bottle of water but this time he was handed 5 pieces of bread and two bottles of water. The man started carrying the bags out of the room. And after he left Orion was wondering what to do.

As he looked around the room he wanted to spend the time painting but then he remember the bags of garbage the bandits brought. He hurried over and noticed that the only reason the bandits didn’t want them is that they were books. There weren’t any skill books among them since the bandits probably took them.

“They probably stole these from a library or something. Well let’s start reading, maybe there is something about curses.”

After using identify on all the books he finally found what he was looking for. A book about curses. The only problem was that it was in a different language. As he flipped through the pages he saw the symbol from his chest on one of the pages. Just as he did a window popped in front of him.

He could finally get rid of the curse. He stared at the book but couldn’t understand anything. He put the book down and started to check out the other books. He started to read. After finishing 10 books he could finally understand some of the symbols. In those books there were descriptions of certain objects and some of these objects were cursed. The description also translated parts of the curse.
