Chapter 19

Being able to feel it for myself was quite fascinating. The runes were constantly leeching a small amount of mana from everyone in the surrounding area. While I could only slightly feel it in the villa. It was far more clear this close to the tower itself.

Inside the tower looked about what I was expecting. The first floor was little more than a waiting room. But with everyone in the mage tower abandoning the city, it was left empty.

Thus there was no one to stop me from heading to the next floor. The library of the tower.

It was my first time seeing such a large collection of books in the Spirit World.

While there had been a few magical printing presses. As well as other magical processes to make books created by people from Blue Star. It hadn't seemed to have made its way to the outskirts of the continent.

I hadn't been able to find a single book in any of the villages or towns I had passed through. Even in the markets below, they were quite rare and often expensive.

With that in mind, I was more than a little impressed with the library in the tower. Countless books were spread out around me. The library seemed to go up for several floors as well.

I spent the next few minutes searching through the stacks to see if any books caught my interest.

It was on the second floor that my gift began to shake through my soul once again.

It was an unassuming book that caused the reaction. It was clear that the book was a little bit older than the ones around it.

Scarlet Flame Magic.

A title that certainly didn't catch the eye. I brought out my tablet. I was surprised to find that it was already in camera mode and scanned the book.

[Congratulations you have found your first Masterwork. Deposit the book to receive a teacher with mastery of the work.]

That certainly interested me. After all any extra teacher was more than welcome. I was a little curious about what made this book different from the others.

Since the tower master had left it behind, I could only assume that it didn't have any value to anyone else.

I was a little worried that I would have to wait until the store deposit timer was finished.

After the scan, my tablet immediately brought me to a new section of the academy page.

The Library.

The page was currently empty. But there was another glowing icon in the top right very similar to the store deposit icon.

The book was absorbed by the tablet. It then appeared in the library list.

I had quite a bit of hope that it would create a master teacher. But looking at it immediately dispelled the notion.

It was only considered a Level 2 Masterwork. With five levels of Masterwork equal to each level of Teacher. It would only allow me to summon an Elite Teacher.

I wasn't going to complain, as it would allow me to complete the second-year Mana academy.

[Elite Teacher Scarlet,

Speciality: Mana(Skill),

Secondary Skills: Scarlet Flames,

Teaching Ability: High]

It didn't seem that there was much thought put behind the naming of the teacher.

This discovery had me searching through the rest of the library. Hopeful to find another masterwork.

Even a Level 1 Masterwork would be a worthwhile find. But it seemed that I didn't have much luck around the rest of the common library. Scarlet Flames had been a diamond in the rough.

But that did make me think of the Tower Master's library. While they might have taken it with them. I could only hope that a few books had been left behind.

It took quite a bit more time than I had expected to reach their former office. Most of the tower was empty. With only the occasional person wandering around.

After all the main control rooms were below ground. With only the focus being this high up in the tower.

I was once again thankful that I had the strength and endurance of a High Knight. It made reaching the office far easier.

Inside the office, I was a little disappointed to find most of the shelves empty. There were only a few books left in each.

I could only hope that there would be another forgotten masterwork.

I had almost given up hope when my gift reacted once again.

The book looked like it was about to turn to dust any moment. So I wasn't too careful depositing it.

I was glad to see that there wouldn't be a timer for the library.

Black Fire Forging.

It seemed that the former tower master had been a fire mage. But this masterwork interested me a little more.

I was a little disappointed to see that it was another Level 2 Masterwork, but I wasn't going to complain.

[Elite Teacher Graves,

Speciality: Crafting(Forging),

Secondary Skills: Black Fire Forging,

Teaching Ability: High]

I was more than impressed with the second teacher I had managed to pick up.

My first-year forging teacher was far from the best after all. Placing Graves in his place would be a great boon to the crafting academy.

That would put five out of the six teachers in the Academy at the elite level. I was sure that it would only be a good thing.

I tried to look around the office more to see if the tower master had hidden anything. While we were technically at the same level of strength. I knew that the former tower master would be far more experienced.

Finding any of their hidden stashes would be a difficult task.

With little success in the hunt, I returned to the Villa. Tomorrow I planned to be searching through every bookstore or library in the city.

With those thoughts in mind, it was easy to get up the next day. It would be another theory exam today, so I did some last-minute cramming before heading to do it.

While I could have finished it far quicker, I didn't want too much scrutiny before I left the school.

I didn't bother to head back to my dorm once I was done.

After a quick meal, I went straight for the spirit rooms.

I went through the motions once again. Depositing two of the cores. Earning another six hundred Academy points.

[Congratulations. Thirty-six students have passed the year and graduated from their first year.]

A little less than the day before, but still a great number of graduates.

The second year this time around was far better.

[Congratulations. Twenty-nine students have passed the year and graduated from their second year.]

The results of the two were getting close to equalling each other.

I then replaced Teacher Steele with Elite Teacher Graves. Since he was a low-ranking teacher, I couldn't do anything else but put him in the draw. Steele along with my free teacher meant I now had enough to do another draw.

First I focused on drawing the two Elite teachers.

[Elite Teacher Padilla,

Speciality: Aura(Power, Foundation),

Secondary Skills: Spearmanship,

Teaching Ability: Low]

I used him to replace Teacher Fintan, another low-ranked common teacher.

[Elite Teacher Hunt,

Speciality: Aura(Power, Skills),

Secondary Skills: Strength,

Teaching Ability: High]

I couldn't believe my luck, once again I didn't summon a single Elite Healing Teacher.

I used Elite Teacher Hunt to replace Elite Teacher Solis. Moving Solis down to teach the first years.

That made another academy that almost had a full group of Elite Teachers.

That put five teachers in the draw. I hoped that I would get lucky. The first roll unfortunately wasn't on my side. As I drew a common teacher.

That did mean I had enough to draw once again.

My luck didn't turn this time around either. As I once again drew a common.

Cursing my bad luck. I began the next years. I decided to use one of each class this time around.

After beginning them both. I was still annoyed at my lack of luck. Thus rather than spending any more on the Teachers. I decided to buy two more time skips.

I was almost at the point where I could afford to do so constantly. But buying all of the classes as well was still out of reach.

I barely looked at the new graduates as I thought of something.

I went over to the summoned Teachers menu and looked at Douglas.

[4/5][Permanent Summon]

It had been something I hadn't even thought of. Using the time skips to get more summons quicker.

I then looked at Teacher Wilson to confirm. That was when I saw something that made me feel quite a bit worse.

[3/10][Permanent Summon]

The amount of graduations I needed had doubled. Any thought of an army of teachers seemed to disappear at that moment.
