Gaia's Domain stretched out before me.
Any render or map drawn hadn't been able to do it justice.
The Spirit World seemed endless. The single plane holding countless realms. No end could be seen by the naked eye.
It was said that the first wave of people had been able to speak with Gaia herself. None of the newcomers would have the same luck.
It was only the few pulsating golden spots that were visible.
The three largest at the centre of the visible plane. Those would be the Holy Empire. The Grand Human Empire and finally the Union of the Blue Star.
If nothing else came up, it would be most likely one of those three I would be choosing.
But with my first life in the spirit world, I wanted to aim for something more.
The few other spots surrounding the main three capitals also weren't of much interest.
I set my sight further afield.
Towards the areas that hadn't been explored by the otherworlders.
A slight ripple brought my attention to the edge of the visible world. The slightest golden spot that was faltering even as I watched it.
It was far beyond anywhere I would have expected to be able to incarnate. Before I could even consider anything else. I pressed on the dimming spot.
The space around me seemed to concave, a million kilometres zoomed past in an instant. I appeared in the centre of an empty town.
There was only the slight shine of the moon that illuminated the path.
Looking around there was no sign of any other people. I couldn't even hear the slightest noise.
The unnerving quiet didn't make me feel all that well about where I had chosen.
Making my way towards the nearest house, I was surprised to find the door was left ajar.
Pushing my way in, I was met with an empty house. While there was some furniture, I couldn't find any food or sign of life.
The same was true for two of the other houses. It was only in the fourth house that I discovered someone.
The old man was lying in his bed, the house in disarray around him. It seemed it had only been a few moments since he had lost his life.
I knew how I had been able to choose this place at least. A dying wish was said to be the start of all areas of incarnation.
There wasn't much I could do for the man at the moment. I covered his face with the bedsheet and made my way back to the first house.
After making sure that no one was around the area. I hid myself in one of the rooms, before attempting to open my spirit sheet.
While I had practised for it countless times. Doing it was a different story. It took nearly half an hour of meditation before I finally succeeded. The spirit sheet spread out in front of me.
[Title: None,
Gift: Gaia's Academy (SSS),
Skills: None]
I skimmed over the sheet at first. It took me a few seconds to come to terms with what I was seeing.
Something that I had thought would be impossible.
The chance of a better gift had been the reason I had chosen such a random incarnation spot. I could never have expected to receive an SSS rank gift.
There was only one other known SSS rank gift. The only otherworlder Saint. The Sword Saint.
His Domain Of Swords was said to be an SSS rank gift.
The fact I had received a gift of the same level as the most powerful person in my world left me shocked.
I didn't even know what to do for a few minutes after reading my spirit sheet.
This text was taken from Royal Road. Help the author by reading the original version there.
I couldn't understand what the gift was. With my spirit sheet giving me no more information. I decided to complete the spiritual awakening process by opening my spirit inventory.
I was a little surprised to see that there was an item in one of the five spots.
A sleek black tablet was in the first spot. It took me a few seconds to figure out the process. But soon the tablet was in my hands.
The second I touched the polished metal. A rush of information ran through my head. The information seemed to be slowly leaking into my mind. I couldn't believe that it was essentially a tutorial for my gift.
Turning on the tablet, I was brought to the main page.
Three buttons were laid out in front of me.
[Academy]
[Imbue Student]
[Summon Teacher]
Both the Imbue Student and Summon Teacher buttons were greyed out. Which left me with no other option but to choose the academy button.
Selecting it, I was brought to a new page. Where the pixelated sight of a ruined academy was laid out in front of me.
There were four sections, with a tower in the middle. Each of the sections had three blank spots inside. While the tower only had one.
In the top right and left corners of the screen were two more black buttons. One with a golden S the other with a golden T.
I decided to focus on the teacher first. After all, there was no point in having students if there were no teachers.
There were two different options on the page.
[Recruit Teacher] [Teacher List]
The teacher list was simply an empty box with nothing in it. So I was left with nothing to do but to recruit the teacher.
There was a grey circle at the top of the page, with five options below.
[Common Teacher X 1]
[Elite Teacher X 0]
[Profound Teacher X 0]
[Master Teacher X 0]
[Divine Teacher X 0]
He could only recruit one teacher for the moment. Before he did that, he first spun the wheel. There wasn't much suspense as there was only grey on the wheel.
[Congratulations you have drawn the chance to recruit a [Common Teacher]]
After spinning the wheel, a twenty-four-hour timer appeared in front of it.
It seemed that I would only be able to draw a teacher once a day.
But at least I could recruit two teachers to start.
After selecting the [Common Teacher], it flashed twice, before taking me to the other page. This time around the Teacher List had two pixelated faces staring back at me.
He touched the first one, which brought up his information.
[Teacher Matthews,
Speciality: Mana (Power),
Teaching Ability: Adequate]
I couldn't complain about that result.
The other teacher left a little more to be desired.
[Teacher Harold,
Speciality: Aura (Skill),
Teaching Ability: Low]
It was clear which one I would be using in the game, and which one I would try to summon.
That had been the option that had attracted me the most. Now that I had teachers to use, I went back to the main screen.
This time I chose the [Summon Teacher] option.
A similar screen to the Teacher list appeared in front of him. Only this one had five boxes at the bottom of the screen.
Only one of which was empty. The other four were blocked by pixelated locks. It seemed that I couldn't use them yet.
Taking the pixelated figure of Teacher Harold I pulled him into the empty box.
A golden Summon button appeared on the screen. I didn't think for a second before pressing it.
Nothing seemed to happen for a moment, but then the tablet began to glow a grey colour.
The grey energy drifted off the tablet before twisting in on itself in front of him.
A large human figure began to grow. Bearing a striking resemblance to the pixelated version earlier.
As soon as he manifested fully, Teacher Harold went into a deep bow.
"Greetings Headmaster, How may I be of aid?"
It took me a few seconds to think of anything to say.
"Hello, Teacher Harold. May I ask what your current strength is?"
I cursed myself as soon as I asked the question. But I couldn't think of anything else. The shock of it all was coming at me.
Harold seemed to think about it for a few moments.
"According to the levels of this realm, I should be equal to a Grand Knight."
That by itself was one of the most shocking things I had heard. Any otherworlder with the power of a Grand Knight would be respected anywhere he went. Apart from a few freaks. That was the peak of Blue Star in the Spirit World.
Thanks to his gift. He already had such a powerhouse bowing down to him.
"Very good. For the moment I would like you to investigate the local area. See what has happened. If you notice anything coming from this area, come back at once."
He gave a brief nod before leaving the room.
It took me a few moments to come to terms with what had happened. I was stuck between huge elation and great anxiety.
This was more than anything I could have ever asked for.
While I had been focusing on Harold, the tablet had disappeared from my hands. I hadn't even noticed it going.
I tried returning to the right mental state to enter my spirit inventory once again. But it was proving to be difficult.
My mind was simply too focused on other things.
I began to get close when I felt a tugging from the spiritual mark on my hand.
My time in the spirit world had passed far quicker than I could have expected. With the ability to only spend three hours in the Spirit World on the first day. It seemed that it was over in an instant.
