Prologue

What more could I do?

Black roiling clouds approached from all directions.

Is this the end?

An electrifying flash, followed by a thunderclap, engulfed the air. Immediately afterward, a wall of shrieks and wails assaulted the world’s last shred of purity.

Sunrays beamed down with intensity toward this small plot of land. It was as if the earth was having its final surge of brilliance before succumbing to an eternal sleep.

Within the center of the holy sanctuary stood a lonely figure, whose hazy image was distorted by seething black flames. It tilted its head toward the last remnant of clear sky that was rapidly shrinking.

Shadowy hair billowed about in the dark inferno as the figure reached a desolate hand into the empty air. One eye burned like a crimson ruby of rage, while its other eye radiated a celestial blue.

Insidious creatures rapidly encroached further into the small bastion of light, their howls and screeches rose a notch in volume.

Will someone save me?

The figure looked around at the surrounding hordes that circled its location, spotting a particular entity that skipped through the air.

Adorned in a full suit of an obsidian-like material, it floated above the demonic creatures before pointing at the being in flames.

“At last, nowhere to flee, nowhere to hide, nowhere is safe.”

The deep resounding voice had a peculiar echo as if it were two people speaking over each other.

The fiery figure below ignored the armored entity, merely glancing toward the fading sunlight.

“While this is the end for you, it is only the beginning of the end for all other worlds.”

The entity declared with authority, uncaring of the figure’s lack of response.

Will I ever be me again?

At that moment, the last ray of light dissipated, forever to be hidden by an endless night.

I have failed you all…

With a full-bodied pulse, the figure grew in size until its torso reached the thundering black clouds above. It’s hands elongated into lethal claws while its mouth widened to reveal jagged black teeth like massive knives.

It’s remaining blue eye disappeared, leaving behind another crimson socket.

As soon as its second red eye formed, an unfathomable pressure shook the entire world. The being reached forth with its shadowy hand and drew a long vertical line, slicing apart space and forming a world devouring black fissure.

From the deepest pits of despair, a voice rumbled through the air.

“No, it is you all that have failed me…”
