Diana
“Mila, why is your opponent so easy while we have to face the army of an upper tier A rank force?” Diana sent angrily as she fought with who she guessed was one of the enemy force’s commanders.
For all the armies in the War of the Chosen, the first round had the same rules. There was a giant forest thousands of kilometers in diameter with 128 clearings inside. The two armies set to face each other would each be teleported to one of these clearings. And then they would have 7 days to explore, fight, and do anything else they needed, such as grow the food required to survive later battles.
Whoever had the most cultivators alive at the end of the 7 days would win.
At the very start of the round, Aalam, Diana, and Isaiah had all left to scout as Brom worked to stabilize their position in the clearing they’d arrived at, protecting the cultivators with farming skills as they rapidly grew food, and it had only taken about half a day for Diana, who’d actually been looking for enemy cultivators, to find some when visiting one of the other clearings, three undead who somehow saw through her stealth and moved to attack before she could sneak away.
All three looked like human skeletons that had somehow been fed more bone matter to become about three times as bulky, their bones connected together by a black oily jelly of some kind. And, when she sent the image to Mila over their bond, Mila’d identified the three as all being Crypt Lords, and Diana realized her army had a very, very bad first matchup.
Crypt Lords were high grade skeleton cultivators, so high grade they were only ever found in the strongest of the universe’s undead empires, one of the strongest A rank forces in the universe and the ruler of all other empires ruled by undead.
This force, usually just referred to as the Undead Empire, had four armies in the War of the Chosen, and, as Diana began to fight, she hoped they were up against the weakest of the four, but she was pretty sure that wasn’t the case.
Of the three Crypt Lords, two were only about as strong as she was. One fought with his fists like Irena, only with a powerful death element Law Larva instead of Irena’s four elements. And Diana was forced to merge with her yang spirit Helen and use the powerful movement skill rune Aalam had helped her carve on the surface of her soul to move around the battlefield and dodge his attacks. The second, however, was a death element mage of some kind and, thankfully, his abilities were perfectly countered by two of Diana’s new spirits—Odysseus the light element nine-tailed fox and Daedalus the life element white stag—who fought with him while she dodged the skeleton monk.
But it was the third skeleton who was the true danger, his stats obviously more than double hers. Thankfully, he seemed to be a swordsman and Dioscuri, her yin spirit, working with his remaining four junior siblings—Ajax the miniature leviathan of water, Medea the fire phoenix, Atalanta the darkness element wolf, and Arachne the two-tailed death element lynx—managed to destroy the earthen sword he’d been trying to use, a seemingly Inferior grade E rank weapon, thereby causing him to lose the boost he received from using a weapon.
Her training every day with Epecteos then allowed the five spirits to temporarily tie the undead powerhouse down.
Using her biggest advantage in the fight, the fact her Laws were all at the Law Pupa stage, Diana then focused on empowering her light element spirit’s power with her Law Pupa of Day and used up all of the spirit’s mana in one attack, burning the skeleton mage’s soul to cinders.
The fox spirit was then forced to retreat back into her body to spend time recuperating in one of her Mana Wells, but this freed her life spirit to help his siblings in attacking the swordsman, and his life element power tipped the scales to make that part of the fight stable, allowing Diana to fully focus on the skeleton monk.
Activating the second skill rune Aalam had helped her carve onto her soul, Diana used her Law Pupa of Flame and her Law Pupa of Day at the same time to empower her use of her yang spirit’s energy to create what looked like a small sun in her right palm. Then, risking injury, she allowed the skeleton monk to close in on her, and even hit her in the shoulder—nearly ripping her arm off—so she could push the miniature sun into its chest.
The skeleton burned, dying instantly, and then Diana had her yang spirit leave her body and join her siblings to truly push the swordsman over the edge.
The third skeleton only lasted a few more seconds, the yang spirit truly the best counter to undead cultivators, and then Diana plopped down on the ground in exhaustion.

Atalanta and Dioscuri, her two spirits capable of stealth, quickly spread out to explore the surroundings, their mission to make sure no more undead found her, and her life spirit Daedalus used his life element energy to get rid of the death element energy in her arm before starting the process of helping her heal it.
“Okay,” Mila sent over when her words would no longer be distracting, “I know you’re a little outmatched over there. But you have to admit that what you just did was kind of amazing. Those three were all max-level E ranks, yet you beat them even when they had 71 levels on you.
“Also, I just told Aalam what you guys are up against and he’s already started to make the requisite plague. At the same time, I also told Irena, so she and Nitya will deal with helping the Bronze Legion move their army away from where the undead should be. Just stay alive for a couple days and you’ll win.”
Diana took a few deep breaths, thankful Irena had chosen to advance her Lord skill to Underlord so she and Mila could talk remotely. “Yeah. Thanks. And good luck with your side as well.”
Mila, working as a scout, had already found her side’s opponents, a dwarven force even weaker than the Violet Mountain Sect, so she was in a lot less danger.
Then, with everything she had to do immediately done, Diana did as both Nana Xara and Epecteos had taught her, reflecting back on the fight she’d just finished, starting with analyzing her own power.

Personal Servant of the Heavenly Spark Soul King: Increase the effectiveness of the Soul and Attunement stats by 12.5% and raise affinity with all Laws by 25%.
After absorbing the Stone of Primal Beginning—a long and painful process that had effectively been the equivalent of overdosing herself with poisonous heavenly energy and then using everything she had to flush out the poisonous part—Diana’d had several amazing advancements to her power.
First and foremost, one of her two uniquenesses had advanced and she’d awakened to a third. Magic Princess, which had previously increased her effective Magic by 200%, was now Magic Queen, increasing her effective Magic by 300%. And her new uniqueness, Soul Queen, increased her effective Soul stat by 300% as well.
These two uniquenesses were both relatively boring compared to Aalam’s or Mila’s, but Soul Queen especially was a godsend.
Diana’s biggest issue as a cultivator had been that she had too much mana, what with having the equivalent of three and a half Colossal sized Mana Wells then boosted further by her Magic Princess uniqueness. And, even with Yin Yang Cosmology as her cultivation technique, she hadn’t been able to fully control her own magic, causing mana to constantly leak out if she relaxed her control in the slightest.
With her new Soul Queen uniqueness, however, her effective Soul stat was now higher than her effective Magic, and that made it so much easier to control her own power, allowing her to much more easily use her Laws in combat as well.
