Leo began to sweat. He was driving where the gps was directing him, but he still wasn't sure what he was going to do when he got there. Damn. I'm not a fighter, and I'm not a cop! I don't even have a gun! He thinks anxiously.
Leo had worked a desk job for most of his life and he had no idea how to fight. For some reason he never needed to and he thought he'd never need to. Simply being a hard-ass seemed to be enough most of the time; he would just act tough and authoritative and things usually just went fine. But he's never been forced into a fight before.
Leo takes a hand of the wheel and opens his palm to take a look. A look of determination appears in his eyes. Fuck it. I shouldn’t even have this body in the first place. If it goes to waste, then so be it. He thinks, confirming his decision.
“You have arrived at your destination.” The gps voice says.
Leo lets out a sigh and parks the car before getting out. He looks around, actively looking for signs and listening for any signals. Leo quickly spots an alley and begins to walk.
**STEP**
**STEP**
As Leo gets closer, he begins to hear something.
“You already have the money! So just leave me alone!” A female voice exclaims.
Leo sighs and slumps his shoulders. Fuck, here we go. He thinks with a deep breath.
“Well, yeah. But I just noticed something, Jerry.” A voice says.
“Oh? What’s that Berry?” Another voice says.
This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.
“This chick. Doesn’t she kind of look like…” The voice says.
“Looks like what, Berry?” The other voice says.
“She kind of looks like a hot piece of meat. What do you think, Jerry?” The voice says.
Laughter erupts.
“Yeah, yeah! Berry, you’re right! She does look like a hot piece of meat!” The other voice says.
“And you know what we do with hot pieces of meat, right?” The voice says.
A chuckle is heard.
“Of course, you do what any gentleman would do.” Leo says as he walks over. He firmly stands between the two thugs and the girl.
One of the thugs raises an eyebrow, before raising his knife threateningly. “Oh, were you looking for a taste as well?” He asks with a smile.
Leo takes a deep breath. “Yeah. Yeah, I am. But if I’m going to bite down on something, I’d rather bite down on rabid dog meat than harmless bunny meat!” Leo yells before throwing a punch.
The man was caught off guard, and the blow connected to his face.
I hope that sounded as cool as I thought it did in my head! Leo thinks as he raises his head to look for the other guy.
Suddenly, Leo felt something sharp enter his body and looks back. The other man was behind him and had just stabbed him in his side. Leo’s eyes widen. Fuck! He exclaims before turning around and letting all his anger and anxiety loose.
One punch after another lands on the man’s face and body before he collapses to the ground.
Leo turns to the lady. “Go! I’ll finish up here!” He yells.
There was also anxiety on the lady’s face, but seeing her chance she quickly nods her heads and begins to run back to the road.
Leo turns around and the first man had his blade back up. “Damn. All that harmless bunny meat. Who’s going to eat it now?” He says with some disappointment.
Leo smirks. “Someone who’s worth more than you are, that’s for sure.” He says before raising his arms. I’ll take a few more stabs, but after that I’m out, man! He thinks to himself.
…
…
Laughter erupts from the phone. “They sent you to play vigilante? That’s rich. How do those stab wounds feel.” The voice says.
Leo grits his teeth. “It fucking hurts man. And I’m bleeding all over the place. I was just wondering if I’m allowed to use the hospital like a normal person.” He says, hoping for approval.
“Well, yeah, there’s nothing wrong with that. These bodies are built to be human-passing. But don’t do that, man. It would ruin the fun. Just let it heal on its own. Cherish the pain while you can. Sometimes the asshole higher-ups don’t even let you feel that. Trust me, man. You’ll be robbing yourself if you don’t enjoy this. Besides, what are you worrying about? It’s not like you’re going to die.” The voice says, unimpressed.
Leo’s eyes widen. “Are you serious? Why the fuck would I do that?” He asks, finding the matter a little too wild for him.
“Just relax. Your wounds should close up in an hour or so. Like I said, you’re an undead now. A few stab wounds aren’t going to kill you. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m in the middle of something.” The voice says before hanging up.
Leo puts the phone down and lets out a sigh. Fuck. Am I supposed to be enjoying this? He wonders to himself. His mind focuses on the sharp pain on his side and on his arms. Then, almost instinctively, Leo forgot his fear of death, and after that… The wounds just began to feel… They began to feel warm… It was like an embrace, it was like love, it was life. Leo’s eyes widen. Fuck, I’m going to be sick. He thinks before puking.
