“Look, kid. Just ignore the whole devil's advocate part of this for the moment. All I'm saying, is if you do your job as an undead right, there's sure as hell a lot more in store for this life then working some shitty help desk job.” The man says with some disdain.
Leo frowns. “Like what? Like dying in some random back alley?” He scoffs, unimpressed.
The man lets out a chuckle. “Hey, what can you do? That's just life. The stakes got a little bigger than I expected in the game I was playing and I took a hit. You win some, you lose some; it happens to everybody. I might not even be out of the count, quite yet. I may seem like the devil, but I’ve had my moments, and I’ve earned a decent amount of karma points over the years. I’m just not sure if it’s enough for rebirth…” The man says with furrowed brows. Suddenly, he looks to Leo and an idea crosses his mind. “Say, kid, are you interested in making a deal?” He asks with a gentle smile.
Leo immediately scoffs. “Are you asking me to make a deal with the devil? Why the fuck would I do that? I could smell how fishy this was from all the way up in my cubicle.” He says, immediately making a stance to reject the man.
The man lets out a laugh. “It’s not a deal with the devil. It’s more like a favour for a dying man.” He says before shaking his head and deciding to explain anyway. “So I’m definitely going to die here today. But it’s possible I’ll be reborn. I just kind of want you to keep an eye out for me while you’re out there. It’s possible my rebirth will be incomplete and the Black Star corporation could take away my memories to make up the price for the rebirth. I’ve setup up a few safeguards in case that happens, but having another dude look out for me couldn’t hurt. In exchange, I’ll transfer my remaining work points to you. They sure as hell won’t do me any good while I’m dead.” The man says without a care. If the man had learned anything over the years, it would be that you never know how karma seeds can come back to help you down the road, and you never know how bad karma can fuck you over later either. Since he had the extra work points, he might as well put them to use. For all he knew, this could be his only chance at salvation in some foggy distant future.

Leo’s brows furrow. Did he say work points… Damn, he could have said anything else… But I would literally suck dick for work points… I’m running very low after a few special evenings with Penelope… He thinks before forcefully closing his eyes. A headache was beginning to build and Leo’s head was currently in pain at the decision he was about to make. Am I really going to make a deal with the devil for some pussy? Am I that dumb? He asks himself before shaking his head. What am I saying? Of course I’m that dumb! He thinks firmly. “Alright, devil-man, what do you want me to do?” Leo asks with a straight face.
A wide grin appears on the man’s face and he lets out a loud laugh. “That’s a good boy. Now, you don’t have to do anything particularly special. What’s your number?” He asks as he takes out his phone.
Leo lets out a sigh and gives the man his number.
“Alright, I sent a few documents for you. One is just for you, it’s my account of how this crazy system works and how an undead is supposed to play the game. There’s also a document in there for some contact information. That’s sort of for you too. I was part of an undead organization before all this, and if you really want to play in the big leagues, you’ll eventually have to contact them. In fact, I prefer if you contact them, but I think we both know I can’t force you.” He says with an amused grin.
“Now, I’ve buried some instructions deep in my subconscious. If I ever lose control, I’ve set things up so that I’ll instinctively have a burning desire to make art or media about cheese-sticks. It could be a recipe book or it could be a whole ass movie about cheese-sticks but my subconscious will most likely lead me in that direction.” The man begins to explain.
Leo raises an eyebrow. Is this guy crazy? He thinks, somewhat suspicious of this dude’s sanity.
“Anyways, when you start seeing that, make sure to look me up. I sent you a document with a poem in it. I want you to read that to me, and that should unlock my memories. If you agree to do that, you can have all my work points basically free of charge.” The man says with a straight face.
Leo gives the man a weird look. “Dude, are you fucking crazy? How can you even be sure that will work? Like is there some voodoo aspect to this I’m not getting?” He asks suspiciously.
The man lets out a sigh. “Don't worry about the details. Just agree so I can send you my work points.” The man says impatiently as a smug smirk appears on his face. It really is almost nothing for a lot of work points. But that’s barely the point. The point is the karma seed. If this dude takes these work points and my advice and becomes something great, you can bet you’re ass I’ll come to collect. He thinks with a mischievous grin.
Leo smiles. “Agree? Of course I agree! Where do I sign?” He asks eagerly.
