Chapter 36 - What I Want

Chapter 36 - What I Want

Leo leans back on his balcony chair and takes a sip of his whiskey. He looks over and Penelope continued to be focused on her book, staring intently, her glasses framing her cute face, her pink lips slightly pressed together. Leo turns back to the view from the balcony. Man. Am I really going to do it? Am I going to spend those points? I'll be risking this, I think. This life, this scenery. The greater my ability, the greater the demand for work will be. Should I even still do it? He asks himself.

Leo takes out his phone and navigates to the Black Star store. He had already decided on what he was going to get, but he wasn’t sure if he should still do it. All the items were there in his cart, waiting to be paid for.

* Beginner Foresight

* Advanced Hacking

Leo was going to start out with these. He planned to go into the movie industry. He wanted to fund something fun, but also something that would earn a lot of work points.

In addition, there were a few items he wanted.

* Invisible Holster

And he also had the future to consider.

Leo lets outs a breath. Whatever. He thinks as he presses the purchase button.

Like that, most of his work points were gone.

“Did you want to go out for a jog? Work our legs a little?” Penelope says, all dressed up in her exercise uniform.

Leo looks up and his eyes widen. “Yes, ma’am.” He says enthusiastically. Did he love her? Yes, he loved her.

“Okay! Get dressed and lets get going!” She says with a smile.

Leo specially purchased an exercise experience package and now he was sweating all over. He ran as fast as he could but Penelope was just relentless. She kept going and going, and Leo struggled to keep up!

“Penelope! Wait, wait! Let’s stop!” Leo says, calling out desperately.

Penelope jogs back a little and continues to run in place. She looked unfazed by all the running. “Why? What’s wrong? Tired?” She asks.

Leo lets out a few ragged breaths with his hands on his knees to remain steady. “Yeah, yeah. I’m tired.” He says, breathing heavily. Leo gets up and looks to Penelope; she was barely sweating. “How are you not tired?” He asks, surprised.

Penelope lets out a laugh. “Easy! Magic!” She says triumphantly.

Leo continues to look on amazed as sweat dripped from his face. “Of course.” He says, partially expecting it.

Leo moves his heavy legs over to a nearby bench and takes a seat.

Penelope walks over and goes to rest as well.

Leo looks to Penelope and lets out a breath. “Say, Penelope. What do you think about getting married?” He asks, acting on impulse.

Penelope’s eyes widen. “Are you asking me to marry you?” She asks bewildered.

Leo smiles. “Well…” He says, feeling out his hesitation. “Yeah, I’m asking you to marry me.” He decides firmly. He didn’t have a ring, but still. His feelings were there and he wanted to share them for the rest of his life.

Penelope puts her hands to her face, shocked, before lowering them. “I mean, well, yeah. Yeah!” She says.

“Yeah?” Leo asks with a smile, just to confirm.

Penelope lets out a big grin. “Yeah!” She says before going in for a hug.

Leo feels her in his embrace, and his soul found peace. Yes… This is what I want… He thinks, happy.
