Chapter 23

Chapter 23

I wracked my brain for that voice.

I hadn't heard it since I was 5 or 6. I remembered it.

It had been a dream.

In the dream, I stood in a room of pure light. Someone sat on an elevated throne. It was a being who didn't seem fully... human.

It was definitely a humanoid. However, that person had gold skin, and his eyes never got red. His eyes radiated pure life, in a form so unbearable that I couldn't stand it. It was like all of life condensed into an eye.

I don't remember what the person said in the dream.

I then remembered who it was: One of the (fake) level 175 supreme priests of light.

"You don't exist."

Level 175s and 200s were just myths. Everyone knew that. I tried summoning my blue box, as it usually woke me up. It didn't work. "Laughable attempt, young one. The Above One has freed this area of the system's influence."

I drew my hammer. I smashed it at the bars.

"Chosen of the Above One, I shall let you free."

I was done with this religious idiocy. "This world doesn't exist, idiot."

"You will meet the Above One."

I walked through the halls of the place.

This somehow existed. I had no idea what this was. The light at times was blinding, but at other times it was comforting.

I was led into a golden room.

"Your house, sir."

The priest left. I had to leave this hell.

I meditated for a while, just to find which plane I was on.

I seemed to be on some above plane. I figured out that it was the Realm of Light.

I knew that this was just a myth. It seemed to be real, though.

I saw an altar.

I knew intuitively what I had to do.

You might be reading a pirated copy. Look for the official release to support the author.

I had to sacrifice a soul.

I explored the planet, but it was filled with level 150 idiots who worshiped Life or some sort of cult.

I was stuck in this realm full of cultists, with no way out. There was only one way out: blow the universe into nothingness.

It didn't work. A light shield stopped me.

Damn, if only had had a soul for the altar!

I remembered: monsters.

Damn. There were none.

Nothing to do. Trapped in this idealistic void.

If only I could kill 'em all.

I went to the palace, and went to the throne room. The king, who looked like a giant priest, loomed over me. "Chosen. It's time you learned to fly. Your wings were clipped before you learned to fly. I don't blame you. It's time you learned to fight."

He gestured at the door. "I'll explain on the way." His vocal tone sounded absolutely perfect, like it was all of life singing in a chorus.

"The day you were born was a perfect day-influenced by me. I knew you would come. You were fated for this. You became my chosen, something I'll explain later."

We arrived in a large room, made with the silver sheen of greatite.

He clicked a button, and a level 125 monster spawned.

"What the actual hell is this?"

The room expanded into a large territory in space, with the level 200 watching us.

The level 125 charged at me. It was so fast I couldn't see it, and before I knew it, my hammer arm was ripped off. I grew another one as a beam of pure light hit the best, from the level 200's hand.

"What the hell? A 48 level up fight without training."

"Yes. It was the first part of a test."

A level 90 monster spawned.

I could take this down.

I teleported in front of it, while in mid swing, using the momentum to hit the level 90's spine.

It clearly faltered. A strong opening move. It was now or never.

I poured all my mana into an attack that would buff my power, while berserk. My swing had a power factor of 523.48997, to add to my great strength.

I smashed it as hard as I could.

I was out of mana and stamina, and panting badly, but it was dead.

Essence rushed into me.

I was almost level 79.

"Good. But why are you out of mana and stamina?"

"Damn limited pools."

A level 60 monster appeared.

I killed it just by throwing an axe, but used all the essence to regenerate.

I was now half full.

"That won't work. This is how."

The level 200 grabbed my hammer, and summoned another one of those monsters, and jumped right over it, hitting it on the head, stunning it for a brief second, and used that to smash its entire body into a mush bag.

I tried that same tactic.

It failed, though.

The jump was simple enough. However, hitting it in the center-top of the skull did nothing. A beam of light instantly killed it again.

"Not like that. Towards the temple."

Another one was summoned, and I hit the temple, stunning it, and then letting me smash it in six seconds.

"Better. Now, instead of fighting physical creatures, you need to fight creatures of the dark.

"That may let you get a high enough level, but you need practice."

A creature of pure shadow, at level 85 appeared.

A hammer wouldn't do anything. I got into essence mode, and took all its essence.

"Do you really think people don't know how to manipulate essence? To fight a Rakshas of the Shadow, as my brother's forces are called, would be suicide to do on one plane."

"The best way to fight would be to use a Combat Trance."

"Upgrade your hammer to Pureite, and come back."

"What is Pureite? I don't intend to use anything worse than Greatite, damnit."

"Pure Light Aspect Greatite."

I left the palace, and went to a market. It sold Pureite, and I bought a ton of it. I put my hammer in it, and then it spoke for the first time since I gained my Truth.
