He had a dream.
It should be night.
Streets should be illuminated by street lamps as well as beautiful stars.
The city was supposedly clean and quiet.
The people should be sleep at this moment.
Yet
Why is the city filled with corpses, rubbles and broken houses?
Why the people who should be sleeping were littered around the place not breathing?
Why does the houses as well as buildings burning so fierce?
The scene was so horrible that can make people throw up.
The answers to this are because of the several huge monsters attacking the Academy City. Wrecking the place and killing people especially students in their way.
Explosions here and there can be heard. Some are fighting, some are running away. Among these spectacles, the most eye-catching was a girl who was desperately fighting while protecting the people behind her.
It was no other than Angelica Strauss.
She was desperately fighting against four huge monsters at the same time. Although one can see that she was fighting against them very well, but it’s very obvious that she was now beyond her limitations. But still she was fighting, protecting the people behind her.
“Run! Make haste, don’t look back!” she shouted. Electric sparks flew towards the four opponents.
“Hiii! H-how about you, Angelica-chi!” while crying, one girl said.
“Don’t worry about me, now go!” she replied. “Just run, run away from here!”
“GrooooaaaaaaarrrrrrRRR”
“Shut up, you damn monsters! I won’t give up; I will fight until the bitter end! There is no way I will back down from here; there are so much important things behind me! Even if my life burn out today, I will still fight. I will drag you down to hell with me, you damn MONSTERS!”
Then she jump out holding lightning spheres in both of her hands. She confronts the ugly fish faced monster in front of her and throws the two electric spears.
“Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!”
The two electric spears struck the fish faced monster and fell down. The fish faced monster was now out of commission and died. Angelica felt some relief but then…
The second monster, an ugly ogre monster run and chased the running people behind her while holding a huge wood club.
“roooooooooaaaaaaarrrrrr!”
The people who consist most of Academy students felt alarmed as they hasten their paced but then one female student tripped and stumble down.
It was the girl who called out to Angelica earlier.
Seeing this, the ogre quickly approached her and raised its club.
“Kyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!”
The girl’s face was filled with terror as she screamed at the top of her lungs.
Then the wooden club was swung down.
Having lost all hope, the girl closed her eyes, waiting for drastic end to come. But it didn’t.
She slowly opened her eyes, and there she saw the lying body of a girl in front of her. She was covered with blood.
Trembling, she slowly crawled towards the girl and as soon as she saw her face, she recognized her immediately.
Even though her face was covered with blood, she was without no doubt Angelica Strauss!
The girl trembled violently as she slowly touched Angelica’s body.
“Angelica-chi? Oi Angelica-chi, you’re just joking right? you’ll stand up and defeat them right, hey, Angelica-chi!”
She shakes her body as the ogre once again raised its club.
That scene became dim as the desperate shout and wail of the girl resounded in the area and disappeared.
And Lyle regained his consciousness.
************
“Hmm…”
The setting sun burning madder red came in through the window.
Lyle slightly opened his eyes, what greeted him were an unfamiliar ceiling, dark gray walls and windows.
“This place is––?”
“Ah… Did you wake up!?”
“Uwah…!?”
Turning his body, he was surprised by the strange voice nearby. He was startled and sprang up.
A blond-haired girl was sitting on a chair immediately nearby, while reading some papers with numbers on them that looks like a finance documents.
It was the Academy Dean, Moori Schlevaria.
‘Ah, right I slept in the Dean’s office’
After grasping the situation, Lyle looked at her and smile
“Ah, thank you Darling!”
“You know…… ah never mind!” Moori seems she wanted to say something but cut in the middle thinking it was useless.
“Ah right, next time don’t just casually stroll inside of this room and sleep, this is not the infirmary, you know!”
“hm? Okay I’ll try to remember that! By the way, Darling!”
“What is it?”
“Can you talk to Mirin-sensei; I really don’t want to face her unrelenting questions I don’t want to answer, please!”
“I already done it, although I did told her everything about you but don’t worry I make her swear not to tell anyone else”
For a little while, Lyle blinked his eyes as he was taken by surprise––,
“I said don’t worry, right? Even though she’s like that, you can trust her. She won’t reveal it to anyone else and especially isn’t it better to tell her and make her an accomplice? She said she will assist and help you anytime you need.”
As Moori smiled wryly, Lyle muttered in a low voice “I see”
With a somewhat settled appearance, Moori put the documents down and looked into his face.
If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
“Oh, by the way, she asked me if you really are the one who cast that mysterious magic that save them in the Summoning accident. Because I’m not sure if it is really you, I said I don’t know then she said to ask you and if it’s you…
‘Thank you very much for saving me and my students; I will never forget this in my entire life! If you want something just ask me and I will definitely help you. Your secret is safe from me so don’t worry’ datte…”
She said and then continued reading the documents littered around in the table. Then she noticed Lyle’s troubled face.
“Hm? What is it? You don’t like that I told Mirin all about you?”
Showing a somewhat troubled look, Moori asked.
“…E-Errr, It’s not that, I don’t have problem regarding that. Didn’t I tell you I don’t want you to endanger your position just for me, so if it can’t be helped then you can do so”
Lyle honestly answered while smiling wryly.
“Then what is the problem? You look like a boy whose mother found out you were stealing her underwear late at night”
“HUH!? What kind of emphasis is that!? And just what do you think am I? A pervert? I’d rather take yours than my mother, I’m not a mother-con, you know!”
“I don’t think that’s the problem though! *sigh* I’m really impressed as to how you can say that openly!”
“Of course, if I choose as to what am I; a closet pervert or an open pervert, I’ll choose the open pervert! You should openly declare what you love or else you’ll just be an idiot forever who can’t say what he feels!”
He said so with a smile.
With this, Moori couldn’t help but sigh in amazement for the outrageous youth standing in front of her.
“So now give it to me…”
“Give you what?”
“Of course, your underwear!”
“As if I will, BAKA!”
Tataaa!
Moori throw the book she saw in her desk towards Lyle who then avoided easily.
“So, what are you thinking?” she asks
“Hm…. Let’s see, I have this big egg I found six years ago in our courtyard yet it still hasn’t hatch, I was just wondering why, that’s all!”
Of course this is a lie. What he’s really thinking was about that strange dream he has but not like he can just say it out aloud. So he just made something in the spot. He still isn’t sure if that was just literal dream and nothing else but somehow for some reason, that dream just felt so real.
“Egg?”
“Yeah, it’s a very big egg. Originally it was a stone but when my blood dropped from it, it absorbed it and became a humungous egg.”
“Maybe…..no it can’t be….but…”
Hearing Lyle’s explanation, Moori as if struck by lightning froze while muttering something.
“Hm? Do you know what it is, Darling?” curious he asks.
“hmm, I’m not really sure but I once read something close to it a long time ago.”
“What is it?”
“etto, I think I have a book about it… where is it….hm…. ah right here…. Here read this!”
She took the book out of the bookshelf and gave it to him.
“
“Ah. It was a study about beings called Wizards from a long time ago. Although only small information regarding them currently exists, it is said that a long time ago, before becoming a true wizard one must undergo a ritual ceremony.”
“You said wizard from a long time ago, but aren’t high-level magicians called wizard? And what’s this Ritual ceremony?”
“I see, but high-level magicians can’t be called wizards you know. Wizards are said to be lost beings although they also use magic like us, magicians they are very different from us magicians.
Well so much for that, about the ritual ceremony I’m talking about. It was said that a long, long time ago, before becoming a full-fledge wizard one must undergo a test.”
“A test? As in written test or practical test?”
“Not that…silly! I’m talking about a test to see they’re soul, they’re very being. If evil root in their hearts then they will surely fail and die.”
“Scary but how can they test someone souls?”
“That is the point. How? Some old documents left some vague information although it was still not confirm whether it was real or not. It was said that old wizards used a kind of special stone or crystal, although some say it was a magic circle, and other speculations that if dropped some blood they will transform into an egg-like shaped. Afterwards if it becomes egg-shaped it means first level is a success…”
“First level? So you mean there are other levels?”
“Yes, it was separated by three levels. The second level is to bind it by soul contract and the last part is the hatching of the egg. It might need several days, month or a year no one knows but the problem is…”
“What?”
“It is said that when it is hatched, even if the owner has a small hint of evil or darkness, a monster will come out from the egg and eat the owner. But if there is nothing but pure soul then the being that will came out will become the owner’s servant or maybe a familiar that will aid the master. Even so, because of how dangerous it is, it was banned and eventually died out”
“I see!” Lyle muttered.
“That is why, it was called
“Ah, I’ll keep that in mind!”
