Prologue: An End or a Beginning? and 1: Remnant Soul System

Prologue: "An End of a Beginning?"

Pain. Fire. Death.

That is what young Damian Taylor knew would happen to him and so many others on Earth B-157 or as they called it "Terra." It had been confirmed for a long time coming by various governmental bodies across the world, but the drastic and panic-inducing news had not yet been released in the vain hope that something could stop the rogue asteroid which was on a direct collision course towards Terra. Like so many other juicy news stories before it, people were scrambling to leak it despite the NDAs that threatened to silence them financially. In the face of imminent death, those pieces of papers written in legalese held no true power-at least anymore.

As for our young Damian Taylor?

Well, he heard of this news alongside his mother, father, older brother, and younger sister a week ago when the world governments couldn't keep their silence any longer. This naturally made the Taylor family feel like their lives were going to end-including Damian himself of course-but the mood was made even worse when they learned through the news that the governments tried-and failed-to divert the asteroid's course. The true depth of horror this news brought with it was revealed to the Taylor family once said governments had an estimate location of where the asteroid was going to hit.

Ground Zero was within their very neighborhood!

Terra was not a world like modern-era Earth. It had slightly more advanced technology, but not to the point where they can easily wipe out a whole asteroid field with a single laser blast. Their primary technological development had been towards nanites and manipulating various types of energy sources instead of space navigation and artillery. This was a fatal error in their civilization's progress and it was coming back to bite them in the ass today.

To the people of Terra, there was no hope of ever seeing the dawn in the same way again as this unlucky fluke of a cosmic event was about to wipe out 80 to 90 percent of the world's population. It was considered an "extinction-level event" by the press once it was released, but things were about to be set into motion that could give this world a small ray of light.

A dark hero-plagued by death, blood, and pain unlike anything the cosmos has seen before-was going to be born today at Ground Zero.

Before that dark hero was going to be born, he was with his family watching the satellite news coverage count down to the last days of their lives. There was nothing they could do to stop it of course and this was made even more prevalent in the minds of those watching far outside of Ground Zero as the asteroid hit at exactly 7:05 in the evening. Damian, his family, and many people within the few miles of Ground Zero had been vaporized instantly.

Thus begins the story of the Wandering Soul who would become famous throughout the Multiverse. The man who would fight against gods and monsters beyond any shadow of doubt. The man wreathed in ash and cloaked in shadow. The Deathless Marauder. The Remnant Ascendant.

This is the story of Damian Taylor's adventures through space, time, and the Void itself.

Chapter 1: "Remnant Soul System"

[7 Minutes Later - The Abyssal Sea]

"That one," a mysterious masculine voice echoed out.

"Are you sure?" another voice asked the first one, but this new voice sounded a bit raspy as if talking through wheezing breaths.

"Very," the first voice responded. "He will be needed to restore order."

Silence reigned for a moment as the soul-which was Damian Taylor-was pulled out of the long cascading river which led to the {Cycle of Reincarnation}. He was not yet conscious since he was recently killed, but the owners of the mysterious voices understood where his future lay.

"He is the last of his line," the raspy wheezy voice commented as if seeing through any and all protections placed upon his soul. "His family killed by those bastards."

"Yes," the first voice responded with a calm voice although there was hints of mild irritation hidden in his tone. "Rather clever to disguise what they did to his world, but just like before, it is far too easy to discover."

"Yet he is far too weak to face them as he is," the raspy voice replied with his curiosity peeking.

"True, but that is where it can change," the first voice replied-his tone having a hint of amusement within it. "He will not need access to the Eternal System, however."

A soft glow surrounded Damian's soul after the voice finished. If there was a priest or a priestess attuned with divinity around to see it, they would either pale in fear or rejoice with reverence because that glow signified a strong {Blessing}. Sadly, the nature of this {Blessing}-for the time being-is left unknown.

"This is what he will need to recover from the damage they did," the first voice said to the second. "While it is not access to the Eternal System, it is a type of System I've encountered before."

If Damian was awake, he could have heard a monotone genderless voice echoing in his head saying [Remnant Soul System has been installed] and that its AI Guide had been activated.

"Where shall he go first? He will need a physical body," the raspy voice asked.

"He will go to the planet [Naboo] first," the first voice replied. "There, he will learn about himself. After, he will make it in time to attend Hogwarts. Arch will accompany him."

"That AI descended from him?" the raspy voice inquired.

"Yes," the first voice replied with slight amusement. "For the time being, we will work behind the scenes to help him along."

"Understood, but before we send him off, what will he need?"

"He'll have everything he needs at the appropriate time. After all, he will find many adventures and opportunities along the way."

In another world-years before the first war against Voldemort ended-a single Seer with the truest sight which can pierce the veil between worlds had foreseen a great opportunity for three people not yet born. One of Pureblood descent whose family caused them strife, one of half-blood heritage whose wild nature was not yet tamed, and a muggleborn who is a Progenitor of their magical line shall encounter a man alien yet familiar with their world that can change everything they knew. She was also very much aware that if revealed to the greater world, this prophecy would fail to come true, so she buried this seemingly important yet obscure truth in her own grave.

Thousands of years before the rise of Darth Vader and the Galactic Empire, a lone Jedi Grandmaster whose sensitivity to the Force was dwindling with age saw something seemingly impossible. He saw an entire world destroyed in a haze of light and flame-the people screaming in pain. From the ashes, he saw two powerful entities that were far more powerful than any Force User plucking a single soul from the impact zone-one cloaked in black and white robes while the other wore cerulean robes with a cyan trim. He didn't know that the Force had shown him a scene from another world in another Universe far from the Galaxy, but with this vision came a dire warning to never reveal what he had seen to anyone save one other.

On his deathbed-years after seeing this scene-he told his trusted Padawan about this vision he saw just before passing away. This very padawan was the ancestor of one of Damian Taylor's future companions who would be safely within Coruscant at the time of Damian's arrival.

Meanwhile similar events were happening across the Variant Timelines. Places in where Damian would visit in the future all had people alerted and begin preparing for his future arrival decades or millennia in advance.

All according to the plan set into motion that day.
