37: Secrets of the Gray Star; Level 50

It was not too difficult to complete the quest once Erebus understood the general situation. Imperial Intelligence had sent Cipher Nine after clues to track down the Eagle's compatriots and systematically cut down various lifelines that could revitalize their rebellion against the current political standing of the Sith Empire, but there was some ruckus from both the Eagle and Republic forces.

By the time that Cipher Nine had collected enough clues to lead to another point in the Eagle's network--on another planet called "Nar Shaddaa"--Erebus had already dealt with most of the issues plaguing Cipher Nine's task. As fortune had it, neither Darth Marr or Vowrawn interfered with Erebus' quest the entire time--most likely observing from the Vengeful Wraith to gauge his abilities with a lightsaber.

Once the quest had been completed, Erebus had realized that he had some rewards--though something seemed rather off. There had been no experience rewarded to him upon completion.

'Why did I not get any experience?' Erebus thought to himself as he opened his {Profile} to look closer at his experience bar. After not seeing anything of the sort, he looked inside of his inventory--getting quite the shock.

[...]

* Item: [100 Experience Package] x 1000

* Item: [10,000 Experience Package] x 100

* Item: [1,000 Credit Package] x 500

(A/N: I put the experience and credits he earned into packages ever since he completed the Hogwarts Legacy arc. I had forgotten that in the SWTOR game, they have such packages and Mastery Holocrons in the Cartel Market.)

<~=+=~>

'WHAT THE HELL?!' Erebus thought to himself--shocked upon seeing over a million experience and half a million credits in his inventory. 'HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?!'

He didn't bother waiting until he got to his ship before he selected all of the experience packages in his inventory and selected the "Redeem All" option. He was just that shocked.

》You have redeemed the following: 1,000 x [100 Experience Package] and 100 x [10,000 Experience Package]. This comes up to a total of 1,100,000 experience points.《

》You now have 1,102,000 experience points.《

》You have levelled up. Due to completing an urgent quest for the first time, a one-time levelling package has been automatically redeemed.《

》You have levelled up from 40 to 50. Due to using a levelling package, all benefits of Prime Levels have been disabled--thereby granting you only 10 points per level acquired. You can re-enable the Prime Level benefits at a later time.《

》You now have 1,250 Free Attribute Points.《

Erebus had felt a sudden surge of energy flowing throughout his entire body when he levelled up ten times in a row, but while he had gotten a nice deal out of the Prime Level benefits, it did seem like the System had a bit of a tough time calculating and rewarding the extra points even after levelling up--so he decided to keep that feature off.

(A/N: I think I'll keep the whole "add extra points based on prime level" stuff out of the fanfic hence why I decided to keep it at a fixed rate.)

Before he even had a chance to come down from the emotional high of levelling up, another System prompt triggered in his vision. Unbeknownst to him and everyone else in his party (that being Arch, Kreia, Marr, and Vowrawn), this particular prompt would change Erebus' fate in the far future when dealing with those who hid in the darkness behind all of the villains of various worlds--including Palpatine, Malistare, Voldemort, and few others.

》You have reached level 50 while within the Early stages of the Nascent Soul realm of cultivation. You have also acquired over 1,000 Free Attribute points without spending them within a small timeframe. You also have one free Dungeon Instance to take up.《

》These have partially satisfied the requirements to unlock a new world to traverse.《

》As the other requirements are optional, you have been granted permission from the System to traverse into a new world befitting your current level and capabilities. This particular world contains extreme gore and blood with a very high risk of death (not True Death) hence the requirements to unlock.《

Erebus read through the prompt to find out more about this new world. The last world he visited had been the Wizarding World during the time of the late 1800's, but despite having prepared for Voldemort during Harry's time there, he didn't get the chance to really tap into the dark stuff that could help him grow his Shadow Magic abilities. He also didn't believe the goblins nor the poachers in Hogwarts Valley proved too difficult enough for him to level up.

'What world could I have unlocked?' Erebus pondered to himself.

》The System has granted you the ability to traverse into the world of Bloodborne.《

"Oh fuck me," Erebus hissed in anger. He immediately wondered if the System was trying to kill him or make everything far more difficult. Even across the Omniverse, Erebus knew this famous game from FromSoftware. Perhaps this also meant worlds like Dark Souls or World of Warcraft were on the table for him to venture into, but Erebus wasn't too keen on finding out this early.

"Well, might as well get on with it. If the System says I can traverse there, that means I'll have to deal with Gehrman, the Hunt, and that Moon Presence bitch," Erebus grunted in annoyance.

》Should you traverse into this world, be warned that your allies Kreia, Marr, and Vowrawn will be unavailable to help you. All currently ongoing tasks/quests will be put on hold until you are able to reach a certain ending to the game's main storyline. Multiversal travel (in the Voidships) will be restricted for certain key points.《

》In the world of Bloodborne or any Soulsborne games (such as the Dark Souls Trilogy, Elden Ring, etc), any effect that can physically or spiritually alter you--this includes Blood Ministration and using items like Embers or Grace--will have their effects at a normal rate. Respawning in these worlds--such as using the Hunter's Mark, Darksign, etc--will not be feasible as the System's ability to respawn you is more potent. You will still lose any Blood Echoes, Souls, etc that you would normally lose upon death.《

》It is highly recommended that for any traversing to these extremely dangerous worlds, you should be in a safe place to commence traversing.《

With that final prompt from the system, Erebus quickly teleported back onto the Vengeful Wraith. He suspected that once the quest had been completed on Balmorra, something from the system would have shown up, but he never suspected he'd have gone from the frying pan and into the fire.

'Guess the whole thing at the Sith Academy was not going to prove shit,' Erebus thought to himself upon realizing the System was not going to have him learn much in the Sith Academy on Korriban to utilize his darkside power. 'It's going from easy mode to hardcore if it is telling me that I'll be going to deal with blood ministrations and eldritch beings. Fuck me, this System is going to kill me.'

Just as he showed up in his quarters on the ship, Arch appeared looking quite worried for him. It seemed that he too saw the System prompt.

"Are you alright?" Arch asked Erebus in concern.

Erebus lightly shook his head. "I don't think I could handle going there, Arch..."
