17: Unlocking the Dungeons

17: Unlocking the Dungeons

A few weeks had passed since Kreia joined Erebus and Arch on the Voidship-teaching them both about how she herself saw the Force. Between all this time, Erebus had stepped foot onto the red sands of Korriban, cultivated the meaning of the Dark Side here, and stayed away from the two major factions' intelligence operatives to keep himself away from the Empire's efforts to restart the war.

Of course, it didn't help that each time he meditated on Korriban, he wasn't gaining buttloads of experience points needed to level up from his current level. He explained to Arch-who was more knowledgeable in System matters than Kreia herself was-this issue and that's when he learned that his System was actually undergoing a major update.

He didn't recognize it at the time, but Erebus reached the early stages of Gold tier-the final major realm of [Mortal Refinement]-on Korriban itself by drawing in the dark elements of the Force. This prompted his System to undergo a major update and introduce a brand new interface, stat board, and all that.

This update lasted for two weeks in Galactic Standard Time and in all of that time, Erebus could only access a very minimal [Status] board and [Quest Log].

However, now that Erebus reached the peak of Gold tier and was reaching the next realm of cultivation, his System finally finished its update.

[Remnant Soul System has finished updating,] the System announced through a holographic screen in front of Erebus' eyes as he remained in a lotus position. [Detect that Host has acquired Peak Gold tier cultivation, comprehended basic Force knowledge from the Light and Dark sides, and reached a benchmark level in the System. This has satisfied the requirements of a hidden quest and Host has been rewarded with a Level/EXP reset while keeping all stat values and cultivation progress.]

Erebus' eyes widened at the last part after he finished reading the notification. He was in shock since this was the first time his System had done something like this before, but the notifications weren't done there.

[With no points allocated into any of the Host's current stats (still at 10 in all stats), the System has forcibly used up all of the free AP to unlock a new function that may prove beneficial to the Host. Be warned that this is a one-time effect and cannot be done again,] the System explained and Erebus saw all of those AP simply be reduced to zero in less than a second.

》Host has unlocked a new System Function: [Dungeons]《

》[Dungeons] are instanced events in important worlds that the Host has either been to or haven't yet gone before where the Host can receive rewards based on completion rating. This ranges from F (Trash) to SSS+ (Beyond Expections) and every dungeon has different ratings (same range as completion). Be warned that every dungeon are single-time events and cannot be repeated in the future.《

》You can access the [Dungeons] feature through your System Menu or UI.《

Erebus looked sad at first upon seeing his AP vanish in less than a second, however upon seeing the new notification style of his System (A/N: I decided to update from [] for notifications to 》Bold Text《 since this feels more cleaner for System notifications. The system will still "talk" using [] though.), he was surprised once again.

This meant he could take part in important events like a limited single-time quest!

Once again, the System wasn't done explaining things.

》RSS has been updated to Level 2.《

》New functions have become available: [Dungeons], [System Shop (T1)], [Lottery].《

Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site.

》Your Level has been reset to 1.《

》Your EXP has been reset to zero. You are now at 0/1010 to level up.《

》Levelling through experience points has been modified. All experience required to level up now runs under a different equation than previous.《

》Later levels of the RSS will unlock features like [Evolution].《

》Cultivation efficiency boosts will begin to be applied upon reaching the Nascent Soul realm. Further information has been restricted.《

That brought Erebus into greater shock, awe, and some confusion. He had reached the peak of the [Mortal Refinement] realm and it updated his System to a second level with three new function unlocks alongside a new experience formula?

Seeing that his System decided enough was enough with the spam notifications, he called up his [Status] to check out the updates. Instead of a cerulean blue background with a teal trim like his system normally had, it was now a black background with a deep magenta trim. Even the text was the same color as the trim!

'HOLY FUCK!' Erebus thought to himself as he read his newest System profile after it finished updating. It was seeing it confirmed for himself that he remembered something and quickly navigated through this [Quest Log] to find it.

Upon finding it, it nearly gave Erebus a heart attack.

<===+===>

He only had to get nineteen more levels and then he can access a LOT more than just in this Galaxy. Erebus was familiar with the places that his System listed out like the Wizarding World, Overlord, Marvel, DC, and Full Metal Alchemist.

The only place he wasn't exactly familiar with was The Spiral.

(A/N: Don't worry, Erebus! This author man knows about it! Also, kudos to Itachi102 on Webnovel for giving me the idea to try this out! If you're curious, here is the link to his webnovel (fair warning: there is a lot of bad grammar and might be tough to read in the early stages).)

'I wonder what this means?' He thought to himself as he saw that reward, but he quickly got over it since he understood that he'll learn more about it once he completes this quest.

For now, Erebus left the spot that he had been cultivating on Korriban and returned to his ship-spooking Kreia and Arch a bit with his sudden return and excitement.

He didn't bother telling them what occurred since his first idea to grind out the nineteen levels was to check out the [Dungeons] function of the System. Heading straight into his [Captain's Quarters]-which had similar futuristic designs as the rest of the ship's interior save for having a widescreen holographic projector television, game consoles, an overpowered PC (with Windows as the OS), and a fully dressed king sized bed inside of it-Erebus quickly opened up the [Dungeons] tab.
