The Gem Dragon
(An unnamed soul)
Gem dragon…I am a dragon? I am greatly shocked I hadn’t expected that…I was thinking that I would end up some kind of lessor lizard monster or more likely one of the (non-dungeon type) lessor demons not a dragon. Dragons are some of the most powerful creatures known to be living even most demon lords are said to be scared of a fully grown dragon.
There are many continents and lands (kingdoms) known as “dragon lands” because the ones in charge, the rulers of that land and its nobility are dragons. All the other monsters and the few humans and demi humans that choose to live there act as their peasants and servants. Not much else is known about them, because outside of these dragon lands there are only a few rare anti-social dragons that don’t live in a heard or pack and pick a mountain cave to make their nest in.
Because most dragons have a nose for treasure and a desire to hoard it…there are often suicide attacks against these dragons in attempt to take their treasure, but almost all of it fails…because the dragon is too powerful. And this is after knowing that most dragons that live in human lands are brown or green, and they are said to be the least powerful and lowest ranked dragons! I wonder what is the difference between a typical dragon and a gem dragon….I decide to try and see if I my stat window had more information…tell me about gem dragons I ask the stars.
Gem dragon:
A race of dragons known as the “mages” of the dragon species, gem dragons tend to have less physical strength then most dragons, as well as a lower place on the totem pole in the hierarchy of dragon species. However there are advantages, gem dragons are best known for their beautiful and brilliant hides which shine like gems making them considered among the most beautiful of dragons and these scales are not just for show they have better defense compared to a typical dragon.
Gem dragons are usually smarter and possess more sensitivity towards magic and are more in tune with it compared to other dragons. However Gem dragons have a smaller population compared to other dragons, as they have a lower egg rate, and as mating outside of their race is uncommon and when it does happen the child is unlikely to have the features of a gem dragon and will likely take after its non-gem parent, as the genes for gem dragons are highly recessive.
Strangely the status window gives me some words that I am not familiar with but when I “touch” a word with my mind immediately more information appears!!
Genes: In this word it is more commonly known by the term “blood lines” Genes are common traits that are passed down from parent to child or are “inherited”. They can be separated into three type’s recessive, dominant and amalgam.
There is more information given then just this… but after reading the basics and a few more of the unknown terms I discover while reading them. I decide to see the rest of it later; as I don’t need to know everything right now, it’s not like I have time limit to learn this stuff.
I am happy, being a gem doesn’t’ seem bad at all! I am fairly excited over this. I have a lot more potential compared to when I was born to a normal peasant human family. Wait family…I must have a family! A dragon egg usually doesn’t come into existence by itself! Curious to know, I ask the stars family? Relationships? Soon some stars shoot towards me and I happily look at them.
FamilyParents:Mother:Queen TerabithiaFather:Royal Consort HenrySiblings (Living):Male: 10
Female: 7
Eggs: 9Siblings (Deceased):Female: 19
Male: 85
My mother is a queen? I get fairly excited again until I see the large amount of siblings I think that I have at least 17 living? …before I was the oldest of 6 now I am the youngest of currently 27…I would probably lucky to see my parents at all when I hatched…I wonder what it will be like to have older siblings…I have never really had any mentors or people who took care of me, my parents relied on me from almost the beginning and hero was way to incompetent and selfish to do so in spite of being older…then I notice something,10 males, 7 females and 9 eggs?
So far, based on the amount of information I have been getting, it seems that my status windows have been able to let me see almost everything. So why is it not showing the genders of the eggs, was it some dragon tradition or something? I may not have bothered to find out what it meant, but then I remembered that on my own status it said “Gender: neutral” concerned I asked the stat window information on my gender.
Gender of eggs:
With many monsters species gender is not determined at conception but rather while in egg or utero. Most monsters including dragons have high death rates, and as one of their genders is usually naturally stronger than the other ( I quickly looked it up, it seems gem dragons are a matriarch society) thus more of one gender dies then the other (in gem dragons case usually the males) to solve this problem monsters evolved the ability to be gender neutral while in the beginning of egg hood, gender is usually given by the first hatching option and is determined by the lesser populated gender of unmated dragons, if population is more or less equal, gender determination will be random. Based on the current population of your dragon tribe, the prediction of the at next hatching option is: 70% of current eggs will be male 20% will remain in egg as neutral and 10% will be female.
Of the neutral 20%:
10% gender will be determined at a later date, 9.5% will die due to mutation or weakness before hatching, .4% will die due to weakness or mutation upon hatching, and .01% may survive despite mutation and their gender may or may not be determined at a later date. (70% chance of infertility).
All of the information is interesting but what most grabs my attention is the fact that there is a chance small that it is, that I would end up …wait I stopped myself I shouldn’t think about that as if I say it “out loud” or I may jinx myself…any way I should put it aside as it seems it is up to fate and there is nothing I can do about it … however I am curious to know about this “hatching option” it speaks of…I pull it up onto my stat window
Hatching option:
dragon eggs receive a hatching option once a year, the majority of dragon eggs choose to hatch on their first hatching option. Hatching stops egg leveling and begins ordinary leveling. Higher monsters, that reproduce by eggs like dragons with souls have the option to gain experience and strength while still in egg, levels gained while in egg are known as egg level, egg level is changes to level 1 upon hatching but stats and skills achieved while egg leveling are kept. It is possible though difficult to rank up while still in egg. Some skills learned or already known are unable to be used while in egg.

In order to choose to remain in egg conditions must be met:
required, egg level 500, shell defense: 800, intelligence: 500, mana: 1000, skill: summon: mana stone.
I can rank up while still in egg? So instead of starting from a lowly brown dragon it is possible that I could hatch out as a respectable green, or even a nice blue? I will have to see if I can figure out how to raise my stats enough and then if possible, maybe I will stay in egg longer. I look at the one skill mentioned…and ask for its info.
Summon mana stone:
For dragons in egg this skill is necessary in order to continue to stay in egg, after 1st year a young dragon will starve as they will have by then used up all the nutrients in their yolks…summon mana stone summons a mana stone that is used for energy in place of yolk nutrients…skill can be learned at egg level 100, with at least a 100 in intelligence and 200 mana, in order for shell not to break from the weight of summoned mana stone shell defense must be at least 160.
That’s interesting I think…I gaze out into my small galaxy deep in thought about all I have learned so far…then am distracted when I notice that several of the stars that I am not currently directly looking at are brighter than most of the others and are flashing I call them up on my window.
Current affects:
Dragon lullaby (spell): you are sleepy and peaceful. A spell used to prevent energetic young dragons from breaking their eggs prematurely
Reincarnated(skill passive): several affects and skills are boosted; experience gain is boosted, information window access is at highest setting.
Heroic water(skill passive): several affects and skills are boosted; experience gain for some types of skills is boosted
Well these explain a lot, I morbidly decide to look up what will happen if I break my shell early, to my surprise after the first month or so I won’t die however I won’t be considered a dragon anymore but a lesser monster called a wrvm I decide then and there to be really careful. I am intrigued that my reincarnation has an actual affect so I will have to look up information on it later to see if it has other effects on me later I then look to the remaining flashing stars
Status updates
+1 strength
+1 wisdom
+1 strength
+1willpower
+1intellgence
+1strength …
This continues on for quite a while apparently I have gained about 100 strength, 50 wisdom, 80 intelligence, and 200 willpower, I then quickly look up which each stat means…and wonder how strong and intelligent I am especially compared to earlier. I see a note that states that while in egg I can’t be stronger than my shells defense, unless I want to hatch early, so my strength is being limited and suppressed to match my shell defense so right now I can’t go higher than 100 because that is my current shells defense
At the end of this long list it says:
you have reached egg level one +5 to all stats (some stats have no effect while in egg) +10 status points
Status points! Apparently I have already gained some…I pull up the window that will let me spend my status points, apparently the more intelligence I have the more mana and since I am already gaining strength wisdom and a variety of others just by moving around and thinking I decide to put all my status points into shell defense as it seems the stronger my shell is the better.
