Also I currently don't have anything for regular chapters for any of my other stories either, notably and most tragically (at least to me) is the fact that I haven't released the chapters I have in reserve for the new thing you guys aren't probably even aware of yet. :criesBo:
The good news is school will be done in a few weeks and when that happens, I will have lots more free time and hopefully thus I will able to write more chapters

Not much to say...except I am embarrassed that I am so late in posting and you have my sincere apologizes for that...
Leaving off the other benefits the mental web gave to myself for later, I will now discuss how the web worked for those who were now hatched.
I think to describe it as best I can I will use the analogy of a pool of water. While you are in water whether it be swimming, wading or just floating it is like being in a different world in some ways when compared to being on dry land.
I wasn’t that much of a swimmer in my past life (mainly because of lack of opportunity Alfdorn didn’t have many lakes or large sized rivers and we rarely visited the ocean) but I do think that I have enough experience that I can use it as part of my analogy.
Basically while in the water you feel the liquid all around you, in some ways it is more distracting then air, with air you can even forget that it is there sometimes, but with water especially when presuming that you are not accustomed to it, at least some part of you is always aware of it.
Water makes everything harder and easier. With water it is harder to move because it is thicker then air, but at the same time it bears part of the burden of your weight in place of you, in river side towns I often see children use water to ‘carry’ large heavy packages downstream that then then take large muscle bound grown men to transport it once it is grounded.
So with the mental web, while they were unhatched they were basically being carried by the water. When they hatched they were by default pushed out of the water and no longer able to truly enter except for wading.
However wading was perfectly sufficient to use the water to help them ‘carry’ and transmit things. When they were unhatched they could speed the ‘packages’ along, with their own strength because they were also in the water. Now that they were unhatched they could only place their things in the water and let the water do all the work of carrying it along.
The way I designed the web, was as its name declares as a ‘web’, if you were to use rope in place of ‘mental paths and connections’ you would have thick ropes tying everything together in a complex pattern that in the end led to both me and the hearthstone.
And attached to these ropes were a bunch of much thinner strings and yarns making even more connections, (though more fragile). These are the smaller more private individual paths made by the dragonlings of which I solidified into a more permanent form from out of their original transiency.
Now coming back to my original analogy imagine those ropes and threads not things made of fibrous materials but instead creeks streams and rivers, and even lakes.
While the hatched dragonlings are no longer floating in the rivers, and are not affected by the currents. They can still dip their hands…er minds into the water and thus are still though by choice, affected by the ‘temperature’ and ‘speed’.

Obviously this ‘new’ effect is nowhere as near strong on them then it was when they were unhatched. But it should be possible for myself and those among them who are more sensitive, whether anyone who is ‘wet’ or simply put connected to the web is in trouble or greatly upset.
Basically their emotions are a lot more separated then when they were unhatched, this is one of the advantages, what affects one of web connected no longer completely destabilizes the rest of them, yet they can still if they wish, even for the most insensitive no at least the gist of what the others are feeling.
I am curious to see, just how this new ‘distance’ will affect them, I theorize that their personalities will give more leeway to develop and thus the group will become much more diverse then it was in the past, because I think the deep connections kept most of them from ‘acting out’ as it were.
For the main disadvantages, at least those not already mentioned, should be obvious. As I have said going from being directly in and a part of the mental web to outside of it and only connected by choice, is comparable to being in water, and then getting out of the water.
Without the ‘water’ to help support your weight, you will feel like you ‘weigh more’ on dry land. Moving around and carrying things all take more energy and effort.
What I am trying to convey, is basically if it weren’t for me and the hearthstone I created, connecting to the mental web would be a very energy and perhaps mana guzzling activity indeed.
As it is, even with the support of the hearthstone continually providing energy, unlike before when it felt natural, interacting with the web now is mentally straining at the very least. Potentially dangerous at worst.
However with the many failsafes I added the danger should be accounted for and minimized. And even if there are potential fools, who because of their future extravagant and constant use of the mental web, whilst ignoring their bodies and the web’s many warning signs, unavoidably eventually encounter problems that result from what risk remains. It is not like there are no options.
I can always decide to interfere personally, booting them from the web or restricting their access. And if I am a less ethical mood I could always just let them experience the painful reasons why they shouldn’t not follow the rules for themselves. Of course that is only with the expectation that I should be able to heal or help them out of whatever torturous hole they dig themselves into.
Though I am not sure if I made it completely clear, the main purpose of the web is to act as an intermediary for communication, and the exchange of knowledge. Without the web, I would have to contact them individually or in groups if I wanted to talk to them. Possible but quite inefficient, also it was quite a different story if one of them wanted to contact me.
For a few like Peeper it might have been doable though a bit of a stretch depending on the distance and how ‘open’ I was to others at the time of the attempt. However for the majority it would have been near impossible and they would have to group and work together as they did before to stand even a chance.
However without the sensory deprivation of being in an egg, for most of them their psychic powers would have greatly faded at best, so especially when compared to what they did before their chances would be dismal.
So much so that in order to allow them to connect to the web as before I altered the bodies of each of the hatchlings with magic so that with the help of the hearthstone they would be able to connect to the web, no matter the level of their psychic ability.
I also had plans to make a physical object that would get the job done even better. But that is a topic for another time.
