The car arrived at the main mansion. Outside, over a dozen butlers were waiting for Johan to arrive. When he left the car, the head butler received him with a welcoming smile.
In the main mansion Thimaeuss von Parseval had a robe on. It was decorated with little stars. This was his formal fighting suit. He used to were it back when he was more active on the battlefield but now it was just a dress of honour. The stars were distributed during different conflicts and wars he participated in. But these were things he didn't really care about. Whenever he fought, he did it with full conviction in himself. He did it because he believed that it was the right thing to do.
When Johan went through the halls to get to his grandfather, he was greeted by every single servant in the house. In the last room, his grandmother came up to him.
"Grandmother!!"
"Johan, you've made it. I'm so glad you're here. Come her, give your grandma a hug."
hug
He gave her a warm hug. Even though they were a bit distant because there was a lot going on in their lives, he still had a lot of love for his grandparents. Since he was a Ranker now, he would eventually get more accustomed to the family mechanics and the ways they lived their lives.
"How have you been doing? How is academy life?"
"Everything's new but also kind of the same. Academy is just like school and the Ranker abilities are like running and throwing ball. Just way cooler."
"Oh, I'm glad that that's the case. Make sure to make A lot of friends. These opportunities don't come often."
"Yes, grandma."
"Now, let's go or else your grandfather will get angry."
In the main hall, the decorations were different. They were almost the same style as the ones for the ceremony. It was like they were receiving a king. In one of the corners there was an arena built, like they were in some training facility.
"Woah. That's amazing. How di-"
"Grandson!"
"Grandfather."
Thimaeuss also gave him a hug. He was very happy to see him.
"Ugh."
"Husband! You're squeezing him."
She tried to break them apart but ultimately failed since she was a woman. I'm kidding it was because she was no match for her husband.
"Don't worry. He is my grandson. This is nothing for a true von Parseval family member."
He let go of Johan and looked at him with ambitious eyes.
"Grandfather, I didn't think you would make this such a huge occasion. I just wanted to know some things if possible."
"No worries. I t was nothing. Even if you're just here for today, it's worth the work. Now come on and let's get something to eat."
They sat at the family table and started discussing Johan's problems. He told them about his abilities and how he didn't have much knowledge about fighting. He refrained from going into his second system and kept his side of the explanations simple. After going over potential ways to reduce is the difference in experience with regular Rankers, they went to the library of the house. There they first went over some basic books but after doing that for a while, the hidden section came to light. Thimaeuss removed a barrier and showed Johan a part of the house only accessible to high ranking members of the family.

In there different wands were put into shelfs to be visible to the visitor. Most of them were extremely advanced but one was particularly important for Johan. The book “Light Work” was about the basics of the Light attribute and how it should be used.
‘Weird. Why is there a Light basics book in here? It seems so out of place, hence the other books are way more advanced, almost prestige.’
IT’S BECAUSE BASICS ABOUT THE LIGHT ELEMENT ARE BASICALLY OUT OF ORDER. NOBODY SELLS THEM AND NOBODY HAS THEM. ONLY PEOPLE WHO CAN AFFORD THEM AND HAVE CONNECTIONS CAN GET A GLIMPSE ON INFORMATION ABOUT THEM. TRY TO GET YOUR HANDS ON IT. IT WILL GREATLY BENEFIT YOU.
‘Wow. So it’s actually rare to see such a book.’
He went ahead and took it out of the shelf. It was surprisingly heavy. The cover just said the words 'Light Work' which were written in a golden font. Apart from this nothing was on there. When Johan opened the book, a light shimmer came from within. Almost as if it had been waiting to be opened by somebody. The pages looked very old but to his surprise the written things were very readable. Except for the fact that he couldn't read them as they were written in a language he had not seen before.
IT'S WRITTEN IN ELVIC. IT'S THE LANGUAGE OF THE LEVES. I DON'T KNOW HOW THIS ENDED UP HERE BUT YOUR GRANDFATHER MUST HAVE BEEN THERE SOME TIME AGO. OR IT HAS BEEN PASSED DOWN FROM THE OTHER PATRIARCHS OF THE FAMILY.
"Hmm? What are you looking at, Johan?"
"Huh? Oh, this. It's just a book about the basics of the Light attribute. I was just curious. It looked so simple compared to the others."
"well, it's an interesting one but only if you can read it. You won't need it anyways, so let us go ahead or we might take up too much time."
"Yes."
He took a last glance and put it back into the shelf. When he left, the book quivered a bit and something came out of it. It was a little shadow.
...
"You really a handful, human."
Hannah looked at the enemy group leader in front of her. He was a giant with long brown hair. While his outer appearance looked menacing, he was very cautious of her. He knew from previous battle records that she was one of the main perpetrators of the recent siege on one of their military stations. It was one of the biggest losses they had taken in the last ten years other than the Aether Crystal stolen by 'that guy'.
"Hmpf. You seem like the type to wa-"
ziuuh
She threw an ice crystal a millimetre past the guy. Since she had been standing there for a couple of seconds, she was able to get into her true form, an ice mage. It was an ability she had learned from a certain place, when she was a couple years younger. Not only could she use the ice element but also produce it herself. her arms were covered in ice while her eyes were glowing. They looked like they were reflecting a blue sky.
She started firing ice spikes at him. Not only did she not hit him once but he also closed the distance between them by a good margin.
"You really want to die this bad, huh??"
"Bro, you've been talking so much shit, but even in a almost impossible to lose situation you couldn't do anything. Cuck."
That was it for him. Veins started popping on his head. He grabbed his axe tightly and sped up.
When he close enough to Hannah, he swung his axe with full force.
"Aaaaargghhh!!"
The second he put the weapon over his head, she put both arms in front of her and made a Kamehameha position. With all of her Mana she shot a huge ice bullet through his stomach.
"Bluuurggh!"
His body dropped to the floor.
'Woah, that was so intense. I almost fumbled the shot.'
"Wha-... Boss! That,... was insane."
The fire fodder made a comment like he mattered in this situation.
"You did great, Eugene. Now heat up everyone while I take care of the rest of the enemies."
She went ahead and sliced through the frozen soldiers of the opposing side. One by one they fell like trees in a forest.

"Hey, Boss. I sent reinforcement your way. Tell me if you have captured her already."
peep
'Mhm, s they're coming here with more forces? Good. That'll erase a good chunk of their infantry.'
When all of the allies defrosted, Hannah went ahead with them up until the point when one of her underlings gave her a notification that the enemy is in sight. From then on she dashed back to the base and the rest of the crew continued walking.
'I hope they didn't send more higher ranked guys. I can't take care of all of them at the same time. My Mana is extremely low.'
While running back she noticed a sparkle to the left of her and in a matter of milliseconds something rammed into her and with the impact she flew over half a kilometre away.
"Urrgghh! Cuhh!"
She landed on the ground and continued rolling further for a while until she came to a stop. Her body was messed up and she could barely maintain consciousness.
Slowly a figure started appearing. First it seemed like a cat but when it came close, a person with cat ears could be seen.
"Muurrrrr! Woah, it sure tossed you away like a football."
