Chapter 8

Cass 9B

"It's just 30%. We should be able to clear it easily." They were discussing the previous lecture. "Before that, which asshole said she was hot?" Shouted Jim at the class. They all started looking for the culprit. To be honest, even the reserved Sam and Justin were disappointed.

Soon, the culprit was found. It was a petite girl with blue hair, a mage probably with water affinity. You still had to check after initialization to be certain. "Sorry, it was my older sister who told me. I didn't realise she was trying to fool me." She cupped her palms in front of the disappointed horny boys who surrounded her.

'All things considered, she was still ok looking.' Sam compared her with the only other female trainer they had. Lady Serina raised the bar too high. In reality, had it not been for the elf, Selvy would be treated like a goddess.

Bell rang announcing the start of the final class for the day. Within a few minutes, their final trainer for the day arrived. The guy had long hair which was let loose. The black gown and the serious look with the bright red eyes gave them a scary feeling.

"Good afternoon. You must be all tired from the previous classes." He said as he walked towards the chair and sat down. "As you know, I take bestiary. Pay attention and learn as much as you can. This class has the highest requirement for a passing score." He waved his hand and made the chalk write on the blackboard.

Bestiary required an 80% score to pass. This was the highest requirement for any subjects taught in the academy. Even in class 12, the highest requirement is only a 75% score.

The five years, 13 to 18 were the only time kids could use to learn and practice. At the age of 18, everyone was forced to run dungeons and if demanded by the system, complete quests in the real world. It was still possible to level up inside the dungeons, but quests completions are the fastest way to receive tier promotions.

"You can call me Lord Sebes."...dramatic pause… "Today, we should start familiarizing ourselves with the basic monsters you find in the dungeons. Timothy will give you a basic rundown on the dungeon tier and other utilities on a later day." He lifted his hands to show a heavy book. "This is your handbook. Get one if you want to pass the finals. It shouldn't cost you much." He threw the book onto the desk.

"Back to basic monsters, this year you are only taught tier 1 monsters and tier 2 defence type monsters. If you go through the first few chapters, you will see a few pictures depicting these low tier monsters. You should be familiar with a few of them from some of the other games you may have played."

The author's narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

"Turn to page 16."

"It has an image of the most common monster you will see in the dungeons. Second row, third from right. Tell me what that monster is named."

The guy stood up immediately turning the pages. "Slimes." He said loudly.

"Slimes. So how do you deal with slimes?" Lord Sebes asked him again.

"Crush the core inside." The kid said proudly.

"Crush the core inside? What is your name?" Sebes asked him again? Feeling something off, the kid started to panic.

"Rick Julio." He said with a little pride in his head.

"Julio? Rick will do it." Sebes kept staring at him, starting to make him uncomfortable. "Tell me, Rick, given your job, how would you crush the core of that slime?"

Rick, who was a melee damage dealer, immediately responded, "stab its core."

"It's a metal slime, Rick" Sebes raised his left eyebrow. Stabbing the core with a sword was perfect for a normal slime but if the slime was metallic then it wouldn't be possible. To kill metal slimes the shortest method was to drown them in water. Rick, who had never seen a metal slime as expected, didn't know how to kill it.

"You don't have to kill it. They are docile. You can just ignore it." Sebes replied to Rick and motioned him to sit. "You don't have to do things that you can't. Expecting to kill a metal slime with a simple sword is impossible. Besides, there are many ways to deal with the problems. Without knowing what the monster is and what it does, you won't reach far in this world."

Sebes got up from the chair and picked back the book.

"This is what a metal slime looks like. Its surface is coated with a metal that we use on some of our swords to keep them from rusting. You can't kill it at your level but any tier 3 or above gamer should be able to complete and kill these monsters in one shot."

"Your first assignment would be to enter a dungeon of tier 1 monsters. You will be following a tier 3 senior. There shouldn't be any troubles but if you waste your energy on docile monsters that you have no hole of killing, you will end up dead in stupid ways than you can think of."

"The first eight pages contain details of the various slime types. Learn it thoroughly and don't screw up."

"I will give a written test in the next class. Learn all you can about those slimes. Anyone who scores full gets a bonus mark for finals." Lord Sebes walked out of the class not waiting for the bell.

"Do you have a copy, Justin?" Maya asked.

"No, I couldn't find a copy in the library." Justin shook her head.

"Here, you can have mine." Sam extended his text towards her. Seeing the girl reluctant to comply, Sam said, "Don't worry, I have an advanced bestiary in my trunk."

"Did you bring all your books?" Jim asked while Justin put the book in her bag.

"Most of them. I let the ones you have in mind back home."

"You got no taste."
