Chapter 1

Year 4311 August 1

"Where is she? She promised to be here on time." Jim asked Dona frantically.

It was the day of the academy entrance test. Their painful preparations to join the elite school for questers. A gaming academy especially designed and established towards nurturing talented youngsters to bring glory to the kingdom.

"There's still time Jim. She promised to be on time. There is nothing to be worried about." Sam who was sitting on the steps outside the Academy entrance tried to appease Jim.

"You can say that. You already registered for the test. That twat better not forget my registration form. Shit, there's only ten minutes left." Jim started pacing again.

"You know how Maya is. I'm pretty sure she will be here on time. I hope." There was a little smirk on Dona's face as she enjoyed the restless actions of Jim.

At the furthest corner of the academy, a taxi appeared gunning towards the front stairs.

"See, I told you she won't be late. At least not today." Dona said patting Jim on the back.

The car came to a screeching halt in front of the three and Maya stepped out in her uniform.

"I'm not late am I?" She asked the sweating Jim.

"You were cutting it too close this time. Where is my letter?" Jim extended his hand towards the girl.

"What letter?" Asked Maya to which Jim screamed, "STOP FUCKING WITH ME!!!"

"Relax will you." Maya opened the back door to take out a roll of papers and took the first page out handing it over to Jim. "Don't leave it at my place next time. I burned the whole place down searching for it."

"Let's move. Registration will close soon." Sam got up and walked towards the doors.

"Hey, that was super worth it." Dona approached Maya and silently mumbled, giggling.

"You owe me 30 bucks. That asshole charged me over for just 10 minutes of wait time." Maya gave her a tight hug and pushed towards the door.

The four walked in through the front door which had a massive board that read, 'QWAKAMOLLY'. Beneath it was written 'school of gaming'. Passing through the front doors they arrived at the main hall which was empty apart from the few newbies sprawling around. The registration area was empty as the four went ahead and received their ids post a quick retinal verification.

"You better reach the assembly in time. We don't like latecomers." The clerk inside said with a stern face.

"Thank you. We will be on our way."

Sam guided the rest looking through the school map which was plastered on the walls of the stairs.

'Elevator for Level 5 and above.' A board was placed atop the elevator with a warning to all.

Finally, they reached the top floor. The open-air auditorium. The stage was set exactly how it showed on the brochure. The place was crowded with at least three hundred students. A digital clock behind the stage showed that they weren't late.

Sam, Jim, Maya and Dona. There were no inspectors. Putting in the identification cards, the glass doors slid open.

They all had a similar template.

The chip at the bottom contained all the important data safely sealed away, at least from the public.

There were no last names. It wasn't important here. Your family could only help you enter the place. Beyond that, it was all on individual strength. At least on the surface.

'Unrecognized'. Those words kept starting at each of the freshers who saw it. Everyone knew what it meant.

A student id carried not just their details but also the rank and affinity. Being unrecognised meant they had yet to go through the testing. There were only three major jobs in the world. The world standard jobs. Tanks, damage dealers, healers.

Each student was allotted a specific location at the time of registration. Most preferred to join in groups that they were familiar with. No laws prevented it. The administration encouraged it.

Everyone focused their eyes on the stage as an elder walked up on stage. The face and pride of Qwakamolly Academy. Head trainer and hero of the era, Lord Qwaka. A being that had far surpassed the limits of mortality. The legendary hero who single-handedly shot down a Titan tier monster with an elementary fireball. The grand magister and a duke of Sylph, the Asia of an ancient time.

There was respect in every eye that watched him take over the stage. The once in a lifetime opportunity provided to all students at Qwakamolly High School.

"Welcome to your new home. From this day forth you all are students of Qwakamolly. Take pride in what you have achieved. Don't let it get to your head either. Strength isn't easy to achieve. Work hard. These few years will be the most peaceful you will ever be. Don't take it for granted." His eyes stretched over the entire audience.

"Well, good luck with your training. I will leave now." Saying those few words he disappeared. A woman in a blue-white cloak walked in from off stage and took over.

"Good morning. I will take you through your ability test later. Everyone should go back to the classes they are registered under. Last file you can leave first." Sam and the rest got up to leave immediately.

200 students, 4 classes. Each class had 50 students who were lucky to get an invitation. Lucky, yes, pure luck. Each one of them was exceptionally hard working. If not for the God of misfortune overshadowing their fate that day, any one of them would be eligible to sit on these chairs.

The four who soon arrived at the classroom were greeted by a young elf girl with pointy ears. "Come in. You must be the last four. Try to get here a bit early next time." She said waving them in.

The four joined the rest of the class, who too were all staring at their trainer jaw wide open.

Lady Serina?
