Chapter 22

Zombie day preparations.

Jester Wildlands

The massive highway that lasted till the end of the wildlands was the safest place for any party to adventure through. One could often see parties grouping up to kill a few boss tier enemies on the way. Some monsters would ever spawn atop the highway making it free experience. With all these came the risk of those parties. The ones that play for the darker enjoyments available to them. The kind that loves to kill and torture other players. Where else would they find their prey but on the highway to heaven?

"Sam, watch out. They have an assassin as well." The party of five were peacefully walking up the highway to the school building to set up for the zombie raid when they were attacked by a group of dark guild assassins.

"Fuck these trash." Sam instantly pulled forward trying to throw the guy off balance. As expected, missing the hit threw him off balance and almost fell over. The tripping assassin was instantly hit by a flame ball to his face. The moment his cloak was seen through, the attacker lost his initiative. An assassin with no surprise effect was merely a chicken for slaughter. Dona's blade impaled through his head sending brains cells all over the place. Before he could utter a word, the assassin lost all his health all fell down like a dead log. Seeing their friend die, the rest immediately withdrew back into the dead treelines.

"Run, you cowards." Screamed Jim sending a few arrows in that direction. "Let it be. We still have to make it to the building." Sam said walking ahead. The body of the assassin slowly dispersed and the highway cleaned itself showing no signs of a fight occurring in the area.

The five walked ahead and met a few other adventurers in the way. They too were in disarray due to the unexpected zombie event. Although Little Blue Hills felt sympathy for their situation, they were in no position to offer help themselves. The more their number became the harder it would be for them to survive.

Later, after a long hour of walking on the highway, they reached their destination. The Jester Wildland Highschool. The school was much larger than they had expected with a massive one beautiful now ruined front garden, a playground suitable for tracks to the right and a smaller indoor tennis stadium to the left. The main building, three storeys high, stood strong fighting it out with time.

The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

"Finally, we are here. Guys check out the place. We will need a blueprint of the school first. We can figure out the modifications overnight. Let's make it fast." Sam and the rest went ahead to scout out the building.

'Looks like no one has claimed the building.' It was possible to claim buildings during events to prevent unnecessary clashes. Often it is given on a first come first serve basis. If there are claims on a building it was possible to issue a challenge and request to relish the claim through the system. If the other party doesn't intend to relish claims, then they could enter a duel. The only requirement was that the two be of the same level.

They made the blueprints and soon they left the place logging out to discuss and further make their plans.

"Sam, it looks like your new master is here. They asked you to go and meet him in the administration office." Astra came in to let him know.

"Ok, then. You guys know what to do. I will join you guys in a bit." Sam left his home walking towards the office block.

"What do we have here?" Astra asked the rest who were working on the blueprint.

"Sam, meet lord Carnage."

Sam was introduced to his new master by Lady Serina. She looked as stunning as ever in her beige yellow gown which projected her smooth skin perfectly. The brute who stood behind her was two feet tall with muscles bulging out from every inch of his body. He came and checked Sam out.

"You are Valerie's son?" He asked in a deep voice with a little muskiness in the tone. 'A tier 10, quester.' Sam thought while trying to figure out how to address the person. It wasn't appropriate to call someone master without their permission. He finally settled with 'Lord Carnage'.

"Yes, I am, Lord Carnage," Sam said carefully. Lady Serina left the two to chat. Sam followed Lord Carnage to the visitor's hall looking for some free table. The place was crowded with people who came to explore the new dungeon.

"Are you free now? I plan on exploring the dungeon in a week. We should first work together and get a feel of how we operate. So, you will join me in two days for a tier 4 dungeon first." He paused looking Sam squarely in his eyes. "I wanna see what Valerie's kid is like. Don't disappoint me."

After discussing a little more about what Sam was working on and a few details about his job, the two split going back to do their own jobs.

Incantation magic and magic circles. Sam was good at magic circles. He could even draw a few on the fly if he is familiar with the patterns. But the incantations are a little harder to learn. Each incantation is usually lengthy and if you pronounce one syllable wrong, the entire chant could backfire. Chanting magics require higher concentration to complete.

Most mages don't practice chanting magic due to the risk factor being too high. With a tank and healer combo, there is no reason to use incantation magic. And this chant magic is what Lord Carnage wanted Sam to learn and practice. The only other Mage who practised incantation magic was his mom but even she only started after her promotion to a tier 6.

Sam had a new trainer and master now who was proficient in chant magic. With a magic-wielding Tank, it was necessary to learn chant magic. After all, as a tank, he already has his hands full with a four feet long longsword. 'I can try but I won't make any promises.' Sam thought before he went back to his house.
