The world Sam spawned in was vast and empty. It was an endless grassland with the same gravity and air pressure as on earth. The voice of the system resounded next to Sam's ears made him startle out from the initial awe.
"Welcome to avatar creation and optimization, Samuel Valerie." Behind Sam was a cute girl, a teenager with silver short-cropped hair in her school dress, smiling at him. "We can start when you are ready." She said in her melodious sound.
"Let's do it." Sam, now Samuel, too was eager to finish the optimizations. By law, no one is allowed to enter the questers world until they are initialized through the system terminals. This was used to prevent someone from tampering with the AI. Once initialized, they could enter the virtual world whenever they were free and train to level up their avatars.
After completing each tier and succeeding to promote to a higher tier, the system synchronised the avatar with the gamer making them both stronger. The world today depends on these awakened humans to compete in the system quests and dungeons later generated.
"Do you wish to acquire a bloodline different to the one you possess?" She asked Sam, waiting on his response.
"Is my current bloodline human?" Sam asked to verify.
"Affirmative." Short and solid answer.
"What are the bloodlines offered?" Sam asked her.
"To receive a bloodline you will have to first abandon your current bloodline." The system said waiting for Sam's decision. 'Mom is a human too. She told me to stick to human bloodline if I want to progress faster but with Justin's legendary job, it wouldn't be easy if we all level up faster and leave her behind.' Sam made his decision.
"I would like a different bloodline, please." Sam requested the system. 'What now?' Sam waited and the system slowly put three options before him.
"Please select one that suits you." The system said projecting three cards with details of the bloodlines.
Elven, Goblin, Satu. Elven was an uncommon bloodline. Goblin was common while satu was a rare bloodline. Although the races wouldn't matter much when it comes to progression, the higher the grade of one's race was the higher was the chance of receiving legendary jobs.
Sam knew of the Goblin and the Elven bloodline traits. An elven race was the best to receive a balanced starting. On the other side, the goblin bloodline was mostly doomed to become a failure. They possessed extremely high agility and some had light magical affinities but goblin bloodline could never help someone progress beyond tier 5. This was a major limitation of common grade bloodlines, one of the major reasons why there were not a lot of higher tier questers.
Of course, Sam's mom was an exception. As a human who received a legendary job, she was able to complete the tier 5 promotion and ascended her race to demihuman.
The rare bloodline satu. This was a very rare bloodline. The most suitable for mages amongst the three but had little to no physical abilities. The rarer the races were the harder it was to get information on them. Apart from the most commonly known races, the rest were all shrouded in mystery. Those that had these races usually kept the details to themselves.
Seeing the high magic affinity, Sam decided to pick it. Sam had always wanted a mage job. He had always trained to become one.

"Bloodline: Satu" Sam heard the system confirm the selection as he lost his consciousness.
When he came back to it, he found himself lying on the grass. He sat up on the floor looking at the girl. She smiled at him and asked, "would you like to continue?"
"Yes."
"Please pick a job from the ones provided." The girl provided another three cards in front of him. This time the selections were all mage jobs. A spectral mage. A four elemental mage. A satu mage. Two rare and one legendary.

Sam picked out his choice. He was confident in completing his quests. Even if he got stuck, he could ask his mom to help him out.
"Job selection complete: Satu Mage."
"Leveling system is now active. Please prepare for stats calibration." The girl repeated bringing up a table in front of him.

The basic stats of his job made Sam excited to the core. To a mage, the most required stats were wisdom and intelligence. With intelligence, the size of the mana pool would grow and with wisdom, the strength of the attack increased. A multiplier of 20(2.0) will make it easy for anyone to reach the peak. 'So this is a legendary job.' Although his mom had a legendary job as well, Sam never had an idea of what it was like.
Without wasting any time, he allocated the available points.

Looking back at his build, Sam felt satisfied. He let out a small smile and confirmed the stats.
"Stat allocations complete. You are now eligible to use mana circle construction. Please note, you may only construct up to four instant cast spells at the current tier."
A New interface appeared in front of his eyes with a stylus attached to its side. Although Sam knew how to construct a mana circle, without prior practice, it would be stupid to try and craft one. So instead of completing the mana circle, he ignored it.
"You have received basic spells, Flame Ball, Water Gag, Iron Skin and Wind Blade. The skills are registered under primary spells." The girl paused displaying another table with the registered spells.

"You are now eligible to enter, 'The World of Questers'. Please visit the closest personal terminal to continue."
As expected, the system terminal wasn't capable of logging someone into the game world. Sam had no personal Questers terminal and soon would have to request one from the academy. He was forced out soon only to meet the others waiting for him at the door.
