C21-RNJesus's Faith

After a… admittedly rather awkward few minutes, I finally managed to quell the darkness in my heart somewhat. Something, something, big numbers make achievement hunter brain go AWOOGA!!!!! And, you know, what not. But, having done everything I had left to do here, besides buying a few health potions before I leave, it’s about time to get going!

But, uhhh, one thing first.

Mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE MINEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE WHERE IS IT!?

WHERE’S THE CLASS CHANGE? THAT SHIT’S EPIC!

WHY IS THE BUTTON NOT HERE??? Oh dear god please tell me I didn’t miss out on it.

I read up a little bit about the game before loading in and everything. And out of curiosity, I picked up on the rarity system. It’s fairly simple, standard fare really. It’s just… one little detail ellipses other games.

Rare stuff is, allegedly, actually supposed to be RARE. It goes from common, to uncommon, and then that’s going to, ALLEGEDLY, be the far majority of whatever you find. From there, there’s rare, epic, unique, and lastly, legendary. Six rarity tiers, with epic being the fourth on the ladder. Now, while that doesn’t sound amazing or anything, launch information promised a mere few dozen legendaries in each category. Consumables, items, classes, and everything else inbetween. So from there, you could assume there’s only a few hundred, maybe few thousand uniques for each category. And with an estimated playerbase of, you know, over three billion, you could see how that could get stretched thin, yeah???

Then you take a step down from that, and you’ve got epics. Perhaps not as unbelievably rare as the other two, but if it’s the next logical step down, then there’s going to be a few thousand, maybe a few dozen thousand epic things people could reasonably get. But, at a certain point, I also have to imagine there are less epic classes than there are epic items. Cause like, realistically, you don’t have a few dozen thousand classes, cause, no shit? That’d be a genuine nightmare to balance.

And, here I am at level seven, with an epic C L A S S being handed to me on a silver platter. Or, more accurately, handed to Jasper. So, here’s my question; WHERE IS IT??? WHY. IS. THE. OPTION. GGGGGOOOOOOONE??????

“Mmmmmhmm.”

“Jasper, do you know what the heck happened to your class?”

“...Mmm?”

“What do you mean you always had it-wait, wait a minute.”

Skills

Wild Hunt’s Mark LVL 2-Strike an enemy with a powerful blow dealing 250% of the users base physical damage. Apply the debuff “Wild Hunt’s Mark”, which increases damage received from the user and their party members by 25% for 15 seconds. Every time an individual deals 10% of the casters max HP to an enemy afflicted with Wild Hunt’s Mark, the individual recovers 1 MP. Costs 10 MP.

Phantom Assailant-Conjure an identical copy of the user within 15 meters of themselves. The copy acts according to the users will and is capable of using any of their skills at double the MP of the user themselves, barring Phantom Assailant. The copy remains for thirty seconds, but remains for an extra second for every 10% of the clones max HP dealt as damage to any target. Any MP gained by the copy from either “Wild Hunt’s Mark” or “Wild Hunt’s Call” returns to the original caster. Only one copy may exist at a time. Costs 15 MP.

Wild Hunt’s Call LVL 2-If an enemy has been killed within the past five minutes and the caster dealt at least 30% of the enemies max HP, the enemy can be summoned as a mindless phantom under the command of the caster retaining 45% of its original stats, 17% if the enemy was a “boss” enemy. Every 27% of the casters max HP that a phantom deals to any enemy will grant 1 MP to the caster. Any phantoms will be lost after thirty minutes of existence. Phantoms do not count as “unique individuals”. Costs 5 MP.

Hunter’s Pursuit-Instantly teleport a short distance of up to five meters in any direction. Alternatively, switch places with a summoned phantom or a phantom assailant copy. Costs 10 MP.

Passives

Echoes of The Wild Hunt-Enemies struck by any skills related to the “Wild Hunt” class will be afflicted with “Echoing Pursuit”, which lasts for three seconds. Once afflicted with Echoing Pursuit, any attack will deal 5% more damage and extend the timer of the skill by one second, as well as increasing damage vulnerability by another 5%, up to a maximum of 50%. Echoing Pursuit is 90% less effective against “boss” enemies.

Reality Shift-If the user would otherwise be killed by an attack, automatically activate Phantom Assailant in place of themselves and Hunter’s Pursuit a short distance away. If the user does not have enough MP to activate both skills, Reality Shift will not activate. If the maximum amount of Phantom Assailants are already active, bypass the maximum cap and create another. 24 Hour cooldown.

“I… What the f-”

So that’s broken, cool. Cool, glad we got that out of the way. Thank you for that game, we’re balling. Apparently the “class change opportunity” was just fanfare, given I couldn’t even pick it. This was always Jasper’s class, it just… wasn’t shown to me? I dunno, maybe she picked it herself somehow. Either way it’s on her menu now. All works out. Gotta say, I miiiight’ve been a little too hasty deciding to leave her if need be if this whole thing was what I’d be working with, but it all worked out so who cares?

Did you know this text is from a different site? Read the official version to support the creator.

Anyways… I don’t even have all that much to say about her class. It’s just… busted busted, honestly. Infinite mana sustain, she can spawn clones of herself with the same damage output, necromancy, apparently. Not like actual necromancy, but along the same lines.

I mean hey I’m not complaining, if she can spawn an army in the middle of the field and they just run around killing stuff, giving her more mana, to keep spawning more stuff to go kill stuff, aye, free experience. Just… where did this all come from?

Then you’ve got a short distance teleport… kind of not that great given I can just [Recall] and [Summon] her anywhere like… up to fifty meters away from me for the cost of one MP? But, given she’s got practical infinite mana sustain now, I guess the more costly short distance teleport could be helpful if it was something that needed to be done on reaction on her part?

Aftercut got turned into “Echoes of The Wild Hunt”, which is just… that but on steroids, since it says “ANY skills related” to her class, meaning her clone and phantoms also apply it on hit, and the damage boost also caps out at a higher amount. It can’t level up though, so that’s all she gets. Not that it’s… uh… a weak passive.

And lastly, ignore death. Provided she has half her maximum MP, she just… doesn’t die. And given her only weakness is that she technically needs to be a glass cannon for maximum effectiveness on all her abilities, that just so happens to work out nicely! Though I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get her min-maxed given I can’t decide her stat spread. Ideally I’d want her to have like, zero vitality with maximized agility and strength so she can keep spamming Wild Hunt’s Mark then recovering all her MP in about two hits. And if she “dies”, she just spawns another clone that keeps whaling on her enemy, while she can retreat and do whatever else since she isn’t immortal anymore…

HEuwghuawhg, anyways, GOD! I’ve spent so much time looking at stats recently! I mean, I wanna KEEP looking, big numbers make brain go WOWOGHAW*GHGAHHHHHHAGHWAUGH, buuuuut I’ve got stuff to do.

“You’re gonna be leaving the Forest for the first time in a long while, aren’t you?”

“Mmm.”

“Hey, I’m glad you decided to come with me, you know that, right?”

“Mhm.”

Can’t get much clearer than that. And coincidentally I also think that’s the closest I’m ever going to get to Jasper saying a real word. Never know though, got a whole hundred forty three levels ahead of us. So maybe I’ll be able to coax something out at some point.

Like I mentioned earlier, there really wasn’t much left for me at Resin Peak. No equipment to be had, no quests worth doing, or at least, I THINK no quests worth doing, never know where I could find another Jasper??? But at least at the moment, I’m not planning to stick around. So, having already bought a map, there’s only one thing left for me to do…

Leave? Pfft, no. I guess if you count that as something I need to do, it’s actually two things left.

“Hello sir!” I call as cheerily as I can manage as I stroll into the apothecary. I’ve got potions to buy, you see. Y’know, setting out on what looks like a pretty lengthy journey to the next major town on this map and everything, so, stock up! If the map isn’t wrong, then the journey should take… at least a day of straight trekking? And that’s not counting any, uh… detours I happen to take.

“Hmm…? Ah, it’s good to see you young lad!” The old man smiled in response, and once more I did my best to not smile right back. It’s a nice place, but it’d actively be much less nice if I really smiled. So… none of that for me.

“I’m here to buy some potions, and maybe trade in some herbs for cheaper prices?” I inquire gingerly, uncertain as to if that’ll actually work or not. The npcs in this game are smart, but I’m not sure whether this particular one will find the offer appealing or insulting…

“Certainly, just go ahead and let me know what you have and I’m sure we can come to a deal.”

Ah, appealing it is. Good to know! Now, let’s see here…

In the end… I ended up trading literally all of the Alvei and Susu herbs I’d gotten from the Bushling boss. For a, mind you, gnarly 80% total discount. And in the end of the end, you know what I got for it?

Lesser healing potion X60 (Common)

Lesser MP potion X20 (Common)

Wiiiiiiiiith, 2 Silver and 54 Copper to spare!

I didn’t trade in any of my “Grove Mantis”, because that obviously feels like a rarer drop that I could probably find a use for at some point beyond a bunch of low tier potions. But otherwise I didn’t really need any of the other herbs I had. There’s probably some way to like, level up alchemy or the like to make your own potions, maybe without a class for it? So maybe I’m a shitter for using that many herbs on a discount? But eh, I can’t be bothered to power level it right now (if it even exists). That’ll cost me precious time that’s currently ticking down with each second I spend still in town. I know I’ve been saying it again and again, but I really DO need to stay ahead of the crowd.

So, on that note… it really is finally time, this time. Time to leave the starter area is what time it is. Grossly overpowered and probably overleveled, it is indeed time to dip.

“Are you ready?”

“...Mmm.”

Nodding to nobody in particular, I slip into the ever flowing crowd walking to and fro the gate leading to the forest outside of town.

It’s tiiiiime, to go, to the Great Crossing!
