C2-Duel!

I continue to smile, something about this just feels so cinematic. It’s the kind of thing you only experience once a blue moon! Man, I should record this, I CAN record this! I AM recording this! Alright, let’s go!

Seemingly at a loss for words, Onesy came straight at me with no banter. To be expected, but not exactly what I’d hoped for. I mean I get you’re shell shocked and everything, but come oooooon, play into the bit at least a little bit, please?

Our blades met with a BANG in a clash of raw power. I was a few levels higher, but the extra attack power from the EOA certainly smashed through the difference. There’s no way I could ever hope to contest the damn thing when its attack stat is like ten times higher than this Eden’s... so I needed to play defense. However, I’m not doing that.

Sliding my blade to the side with my smirk widening by the moment, I sidestepped the blow and took a swing at OTR’s side, trying to catch him off guard and hope he wouldn’t register the attack fast enough to properly counter, but in a rare display of extreme competency, he actually managed to pull back and counterattack! Knocking my sword off course with a dou block, he took a slash at me while I was completely off guard! Perhaps the shock of the situation was giving him some sort of out of body experience? Or just a fluke? He certainly wasn’t playing this well when-HOLY CRAP!

Forty two percent of my hp knocked off in a single hit! I mean, I knew I was gonna get three shot by the damn thing, but seeing it in action is another matter entirely! Hell, even he looks shocked!

Not abating for a moment, I lunge back in as our blades meet again. He clearly hadn’t expected my [Aggression] to still be running at full force, but my mentality had barely shaken from that hit. I’d expected it, WANTED it! And given that fact, I was able to knock him back pretty easily. No damage, but that wasn’t what I was after.

[Berserk]! [Super Acceleration]!

It was a bad habit, but I could feel my grin getting even wider as I leaped in after him, leaving a trail through his avatar as my blade slashed clear through… for a measly 3% of his hp. He’d be half dead if I was using my EoA. Well, not really MY EoA any more. I gave it away! But I’m not quite done quite yet.

Slash, slash, slash! One hit two hit three hits, fffff-yeah I don’t know what I was thinking going for that last hit. I guess I’m just used to shit dying by now. In an explosion of sparks, our blades met again. OTR finally managing to parry after getting hit a few times. But while my [Super Acceleration] is still active I reign supreme in this fight. He’d be a fool to properly strike back. Without giving him the chance to even push me back an inch, I swing again, and again, and again!

Five seconds left-and he manages to deflect four consecutive blows in a row. Impressive for him, but I’m not getting spooked out of my offense.

Four seconds left-and he finally bites a hit, taking another meager chunk of 2% to his health. The other hits parried with ease.

Three seconds left-and still no dice. He’s playing defense extraordinarily well today, did he just need a warm up or something with the earlier ass beating?

Two seconds left-and finally he uses a skill. Makes sense, I was starting to press him pretty hard. Even his Frontliner [Regeneration] wouldn’t be able to save him if I got a solid combo on him. He’s already lost a fifth of his health, and 1% regen a second is NOT going to cut it.

One second left-and his skill immediately wears off. Must’ve been [First Nullification], meaning he’s basically defenseless for this last second!

Capitalizing on my chance, I activate a skill I hadn’t used even while 1v14ing his entire guild. Feeling like getting off one last bit of trolling, I decide to announce it out loud to the wide, wide world.

“[Rapid Cutter]!”

“AW YOU DI-”

DING-DING-DING-DING-DING-DING

Hit notifications ring off left and right, a dozen blows landing in that single instant as my arms speed up beyond visual comprehension. And what do I get for all that effort? Less than half of his health… and a sword clean through my midsection. Seriously, he ATE the hits to get a single swing on me? That’s just…

Cut down by the culmination of my efforts. Hey, that’s almost poetic.

“Ah, this game sucks. Good game.”

I fall over, my health reduced to zero in a grand total of two hits. My body dissolves into nothing but a single flame, two minutes left until I respawn. Or in other words, until I let sleeping dogs lie, forever.

“You… seriously, half my health while I’m using a maxed out weapon, while you have a plus ninety weapon? You seriously just grinded to plus ninety nine for the achievement huh?”

“You betcha.” my voice echoes ethereally from the flame.

“Jeeze…” He ruffled his hair a moment, before slamming the EoA into the earth beneath him, much the same way I had done minutes earlier. Sitting down in front of my flame, he paused for a moment before tilting his head at the floating orb that was currently me. “You sure you’re quitting, man? I don’t think this game’s gonna be the same without you playing it. I can trade you this back still.” He gestured at the EoA planted firmly into the earth.

“Yeah, I think getting two shot just now added some more perspective to the decision. Uh, I’m quitting, expeditiously. I get I’m a glass cannon build, but that’s just ridiculous.”

“I mean, you’d still dominate the meta. I’d be dead, what, like eight times over before I even managed to hit you once? Hell, weren’t half your skills and passives on cooldown anyways?”

“Eh, still shitty getting two shot.”

Sighing dramatically, OTR throws the sword up into the air (one again) much the same way I did a minute or two ago, dismissing it to his inventory.

“Well, go ahead and trade me that Eden’s Longsword back while you’re still here.”

“Oh, right.”

I sort of… forgot. That fight was pretty good. Most fights in this game were. It was just a sour feeling to be dead in quite literally two hits when I landed like, fifteen of my own? A little bullshit, in my professional opinion. A difference of trillions of gold… perhaps, but should it really make THAT huge of a gap? He shouldn’t even be dealing all that much damage anyways, he was a god damn tank class… I mean, I guess I’m a glass cannon, so it cancels out.

Tossing the white blade up into the air a moment later after it had found itself into his hands once more, OTR sighed again, remaining silent for a moment.

“Well?” I asked with an easy gait to my voice. “Only eighty seconds until I’m off this game forever, whatever you have to say, go ahead and get it off your chest.”

“This is just… a little anticlimactic, you know? My guild doesn’t even believe that you’re dead right now.”

“Pff, tell me about it. We menace each other for months and it all ends with me getting two shot? I mean, it was pretty cool that it was by my own sword, like, it’s poetic n’shit, you know? ‘Ohhhh, felled by my own hubris!’”

“...I guess.” He mumbled, before scrolling through his menu. “Uh… hey?”

“Yeah? All ears.”

I in fact, currently had no ears.

“You said you had your eyes on a game, right?”

“Hm? Yeah, advertised a super interactive world. Changing around the players actions, and whatnot. Early days should be sick. Releasing two days from now I think, why?”

“Just… talking to my guild about it. The only reason we were really farming was to keep up with you… if you’re quitting, there’s no point to it.”

Raising an eyebrow that he couldn’t see, I had to wonder what was going through his head. “...Jeeze dude, I’m just a man.”

“You’re a titan of a man! You almost beat me with nine less enchantment levels, that’s like, ten times less attack power??? That’s insane.”

“Alright, alright, enough with the glazing I’m not that crazy! You’ve got forty seconds left, make it count.”

“...What’s the game’s name?”

I pause for a moment, letting the seconds tick down as OTR began to fidget nervously. And then… it clicked.

“Heh-hehehehahaha! No way, nooooo way, you want to hop games WITH me? What’s the point of my dramatic sacrifice dropping you the sword of legends and everything?”

“I mean, it was a pretty cool final battle.”

“Didn’t you JUST say it was anticlimactic?”

“Didn’t you JUST say you had forty seconds left?”

“Twenty five and counting, actually… Ahem, I believe it was called…”

“...Called what!?”

“I’m thinking. Difficult to get off the top of my head, you know?”

“Oh you ass just tell me!”

“Wow, that's certainly not the way to ask nicely.”

“Screw being nice, you have like fifteen seconds left! Just, tell, me, the name!”

“Fine, fine. It’s called Omniscient. You happy?”

“Oh, Omniscient? That’s a pretty high profile game actually, didn’t the developers of Heaven’s Gate make that one?”

“Yup. Played that one, it was pretty damn good. Didn’t take me too long to hundred percent it though. Unfortunately, don’t think their new game’s gonna have any completionist bait for tired old souls like me.”

“You don’t need an achievement to tell you you beat the game man. Like, I think you could tell you basically beat this game without a big waving flag telling you that you did it.”

“Yeah, but I like bigger numbers.”

He opened his mouth as if to say something, but then mulled it over, and… “...Is that why you’re a glass cannon build?”

I smiled and raised my hands, though he couldn’t see either of those things given I was currently a fast fading flame. “Red handed.”

He snrrked a little bit, before once again opening his menu. “Oh, right, before I forget, add me on Homepage real quick would you?”

“Huh? What kind of enemies to allies shtick is this?”

“Can’t well find you without having you added can I?”

“I’m sure you’d manage.”

“Dude, you have like FIVE, SECONDS, just tell me your username!”

“Huh? You already know it.”

“No, I don’t, you dolt! Tell me!”

“...Koth?”

“Wh-that’s your name in this game.”

“...That’s my name in everything.”

“...Isn’t that a little unoriginal?”

“Ohhhhh noooooo, looks like time’s uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu-
