Chapter 70 - The war is coming 02!

[Chapter Size: 1700 Words.]

Third Person POV

The Land of Water.

...

...

Naruto was in a secluded corner of the main camp, sitting in the lotus position with his eyes closed, alone and focused. His goal was to sense emotions, striving to reach a new level in his Observation Haki. This would not only make him stronger, but it was still challenging for him to achieve this level after 65 missions. Naruto decided to open his eyes, ending his training session with a sigh before he rose and started to head back to the camp. A moment later, he thought about how he had been in this war for nearly a year since he decided to join, now turning 12 years old in this world. He had not only helped with outside missions but had also trained new recruits. Although Naruto couldn't assist with jutsus or his unique chakra model, he definitely knew how to push someone to their physical limit and improve it, like his own style of fighting and swordsmanship. Naruto had proven to be the best swordsman in the entire camp, even Chojuro couldn't handle him, despite having a much more powerful sword than any Naruto carried.

Debates had started about this since then, with some supporters wanting to give one of the seven swords to Naruto and make him the title holder, while others refused due to him being a foreigner. However, Naruto himself did not want these swords; from the pictures he had seen, none suited his style. He wanted to find his own blade, and he planned to do so once things calmed down in this country.

He walked through the camp and went to Mei's tent, where the woman had spent the last few days. He easily passed the guards and found her with Ao, discussing something. "You've been here for three days. Are you eating or sleeping?" Naruto interrupted their discussion as he entered.

"Naruto, you're here. I sent for you just now," she said.

"I know, that's why I came here," Naruto replied, having sensed with his Haki while surveying the entire camp that Mei had called some people looking for him.

"Alright... Ao, could you leave us?" Mei wasn't surprised that Naruto hadn't found anyone looking for him, already somewhat familiar with his abilities. Ao nodded before leaving the two alone.

"We need to talk, Jill brought new information about the movements in Kiri," she said.

"So they're finally going to attack us then," Naruto asked.

"Yes... They're starting to concentrate more forces in Kiri, much more than before..." she replied.

"How many ninjas are we talking about?" Naruto asked, curious.

"7,000 ninjas..." she said, indicating that Kiri had much more strength than them.

"We have about 5,500 here... so we'll be facing 7,000 of them and another 1,000 later in the hidden village?" Naruto said calmly.

"You talk as if we can easily handle 7,000 ninjas..." she complained a bit to Naruto.

"We can beat them, Mei. I have my own tricks to completely reduce their strength," Naruto said calmly, confident in his ability to significantly weaken them, making their numerical disadvantage irrelevant.

"I hope you're right..." she said, not fully understanding what Naruto meant by that. "Anyway, I want you to prepare your team for the fight, I talked to Utakata, and he trusts you more than me..." she sighed.

"I became the godfather at his wedding, it's common..." Naruto said, as the jinchuuriki and his apprentice had married a few months after a romance blossomed between them. To his surprise, Utakata had asked him to be the godfather at a small ceremony.

"The wedding, of course..." Mei murmured, seemingly touched by the thought.

"Why are you always like this with weddings? You cried a lot and even caught the bouquet of flowers, does that mean yours is near...?" Naruto asked playfully.

"I didn't..." She seemed shy about it, knowing that she wanted to marry somehow, but she had other priorities in her life. "Anyway..." She continued. "We still have a country to liberate, I don't have time for this, let's get back to a more serious topic." She practically exclaimed, her blush betraying her feelings.

"Alright, you told me to prepare and talk to Utakata..." Naruto said, and she nodded.

"Yes, let's prepare everyone, even the teenagers..." she said.

"Alright, even if they're not ready for the fight, they need to be able to protect themselves." Naruto agreed with her thoughts.

"Can you review my strategy with me?" She asked. "I still have to discuss it with the commanders, but I want your opinion before theirs." She spoke and Naruto began to listen to her plan against the Kiri forces, as she continued pointing to the map. Naruto listened attentively before starting to offer better tips with her, adapting some naval tactics to the ninja world.

"I think this is good, anyway, this is my strategy, I'll say the same thing in the meeting with the leaders, but you decide." Naruto said as he began to leave the place with Mei nodding.

Naruto walked back through the camp and went to his tent while he saw Kimimaro talking with some ninjas.

"Naruto... Have you heard about Kiri?" Kimimaro asked as soon as he saw him.

"Yes, we need to prepare," Naruto replied seriously. "I'm going to rest a bit and then we'll train some more before the fight starts." Naruto said and went to his tent.

The days passed and the tension in the camp only grew, while Naruto trained everyone with Utakata and his wife joining in.

There were several meetings in the next few days as everyone discussed strategies, and Naruto participated in all of them without anyone contesting. Even those who had some distaste for the mercenary had to admit that his ideas were good.

While the discussions continued in that tent, the camp was preparing for the conflict, with blacksmiths working tirelessly producing a large number of kunais, ninja stars, and shurikens. Some knowledgeable in fuuinjutsu were creating many explosive tags.

There weren't many activities in the last months, as the rebels focused only on strengthening themselves and preparing for the attack.

The Land of Water was all abuzz, and this did not escape the eyes of the world, especially with the movement in Kiri, where several spies managed to enter the closed country and gather information for their village.

The Fourth Raikage was looking at the reports with interest. "I'm sure those old men will want us to start a war against Kiri, after all, the country will be in ruins by the end of this internal dispute..." He commented, imagining how the dwarves of the Cloud Village would like to get their hands on the neighboring country's resources.

"Isn't that good?" The Raikage's secretary asked.

"It is, but what will the world do with this...? We'll start another ninja world war if we initiate the conflict..." He said.

In the Land of Stone, Oonoki looked at the report after buying information on the black market. "Well... they are from a country far away, we can't do anything about it, but when another world war starts, they will be in trouble... Let them kill each other..." He said in the end, as that civil war had nothing to do with the Stone Village.

He turned to face a ninja in front of him. "Besides, we have other concerns here, where is that brat Deidara?" He asked, as his student had disappeared.

"We lost him, Tsuchikage-sama..." The ninja said with a regretful tone.

"That damn brat, what does he think he's doing deserting the village?!" Oonoki growled.

Elsewhere in the world, in the Sand Village, "Hmm... This is interesting..." the Kazekage commented while looking at the reports he had purchased.

"This could be an opportunity..." He said, looking out the window.

"You want to attack the village that did so much to try to maintain peace, you even handed over the young Pakura!" Chiyo appeared at that moment, complaining to him.

"It doesn't matter, I will do whatever it takes to help this village grow..." Rasa was quite firm about this, he didn't care about changing allies into enemies, as long as the village could benefit from it.

The same information also reached Konoha while Minato found himself discussing these events with his sensei.

"It seems there will be a decisive conflict in Kiri..." Minato commented.

"Yes..." Jiraiya said. "I never imagined one of the villages would come to this during the peace time we are living in..." He remarked.

"Yes..." Minato agreed, before speaking again with some uncertainty. "You think he's there, don't you?" He asked, and Jiraiya nodded with a serious face.

"It all indicates that your son has somehow entered this war. And he's on the rebel side," Jiraiya commented.

"I want to talk to him." Minato admitted, his greatest desire in the last two years was to question his son.

"You know it won't be easy to enter that country, although I might be able to manage it, but you can do it without a chance of creating a big diplomatic mess," Jiraiya commented.

"What do you mean?" Minato looked at him suspiciously.

"I don't know the outcome of this conflict... but surely Naruto will have a significant impact on whichever side he's on, if he comes out victorious... the Leaf Village will host an event next year..." He mentioned, and Minato's eyes widened.

"The Chunin Exam..." Minato murmured, inviting Kiri could be a chance to reunite with his son. "You're right, but let's first see the outcomes of the events that will happen in the coming months..." He said.

"You're right. Moreover, have you already chosen the teams to be formed at the academy?" He asked.

"I'm looking at some," Minato admitted.

"You're really thinking about putting all the Uzumaki women on one team, aren't you?" Jiraiya asked curiously.

"It will be good for Kushina... She has grown very attached to Sora and Mizu in recent years. I'm sure she would be very unhappy if she doesn't become the jonin responsible for them, besides, we have one more Uzumaki to integrate into the group now," Minato said.

"That's good. I'm sure they'll be a strong team, perhaps the best that Konoha has ever seen," Jiraiya commented with a smile, and Minato nodded. His last look went to the family photo where Naruto was, hoping that the day would finally come when they could reunite.
