[Chapter Size: 1900 Words.]
Third Person POV
The Land of Sea.
...
...
The rebel ninja camp against the Mizukage was quite extensive, having at least about 5,000 ninjas and around 1,000 civilians working for the group, from what Naruto could tell. His arrival was soon noticed by all the ninjas as they passed.
It was no surprise while Light, Dragon, and Bones were walking behind the Jinchuuriki along with the resistance leader. Heading to the main tent.
"You guys leave us," Mei told some guards at the location as she entered the tent with the camp's new guests.
They were left alone as Mei entered, and Light and the others stayed behind while Mei and Ao were on the other side with that nervous boy.
Mei once again faced the five people in front of her, thinking of all the possibilities for her next decisions. "So Utakata... You want to join the rebel force only if Light and his companions accompany you in this war?" She asked again to make sure of what she heard.
"Yes, I will only participate if I have someone I trust by my side, and I trust Light more than you... no offense..." He spoke, even as Naruto behind his mask, raised an eyebrow at that.
Mei frowned and exchanged a look with Ao, before turning back to the Jinchuuriki. "Did you discuss this before coming here?" She looked suspiciously.
"No..." It was Light who responded as he stared at the Jinchuuriki behind his mask.
"No... I didn't say this to Light..." Utakata was a bit uncomfortable and embarrassed by something he hadn't arranged. "But I know of Light's interest in the Mizukage and the one who controls him... I am sure he would also like to kill the one who controls him... Besides, I've seen him fight and I know he will keep his word and protect his friends... That's why I will only enter this war if he is with me," he said at the end, while Akame and Kimimaro exchanged looks behind Naruto.
"..." Mei was silent for a few seconds after hearing this. "They are not from Kiri..." She spoke until her gaze fell on Bones. "Or almost all, but I still don't know if we can do this, they are mercenaries, the rebel army wouldn't take this well..." Mei said.
"Alright... I'll be honest, Lady Mai, I'm leaving then, I no longer trust members of this country, after all as soon as I arrived, there was a man demanding my presence as a prisoner," Utakata spoke firmly, as Mei looked at him once more with a furrowed brow and sighed.
She knew there was a lot of complication in this, first Light was a hired mercenary, not knowing what happened for Utakata to trust him that way, but she understood very well why the Jinchuuriki didn't trust them, and thanks to Hozuki Seijun, the situation had worsened, which was very bad for them in the rebel force, they still needed a Jinchuuriki to fight alongside them.
"Let me discuss this with the leaders before making any decision, can you wait until tomorrow?" Mei spoke as Utakata nodded and Light said nothing, waiting to have a conversation with the Jinchuuriki later, once they left this place. But he felt something at that moment, he noticed something change behind Ao's eyes, behind his eye patch, as veins grew beside him, he felt that guy look at Utakata first and then at him trying to find his biggest secrets, Naruto would attack him if he posed any threat at that moment, but the man couldn't do anything with him, other than him being quite frightened and sudden as he tried to see something in Naruto.
"Alright, we'll do that..." Utakata spoke as Mei nodded.
"Choujuurou, can you show one of the empty spaces of the camp and set up a tent for them to spend the night?" Mei sensed Ao's discomfort but ignored it and asked and the nervous boy nodded cautiously to him and moved forward.
"Can you follow me?" He asked, stuttering.
"..." Mei watched them follow right behind Choujuurou and turned her gaze back to Ao, "What do you think of this? Besides, why do you look so scared?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I checked Utakata's chakra flow... he was not under the influence of any genjutsu, but..." He now seemed nervous.
"But...?" Mei repeated his words, wondering what he was struggling so much to say.
"Bones and Dragon seemed normal... but Light... he..." The man looked so frightened that he had trouble uttering the next words. "He has no chakra... I couldn't detect any chakra in his body...!" He said as he looked at Mei for answers.
"No chakra in his body? You know that's impossible, right? Did you see the danger of that sword when he made it glow like that?" Mei spoke, not understanding if Ao was having difficulty seeing Light's chakra, which somehow he was hiding, she didn't believe he had a complete absence of chakra as Ao was reporting.
"I don't know... I've never detected anyone like that with my Byakugan..." He said.
"Okay... now tell me about the situation, it seems that Utakata is doing this on his own and not under some kind of genjutsu, which I also personally think is the most likely after what he went through in this country." She spoke and Ao nodded.
"He is important as you know, but we can also have powerful allies here, Light and his group are mercenaries, I believe we can hire them to fight on our side, besides... This would be a solution to end the problem of having someone from outside knowing the location of our camp." Ao shared his thoughts, setting aside what he saw with his implanted doujutsu.
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
Mei sighed hearing this, Ao had a point, although she was very cautious with Light and his group. "Alright, call all the leaders so we can talk about this situation." Mei spoke as Ao nodded before leaving.
"I hope we are making the right decision..." She spoke looking at the map of the camp and the country.
Meanwhile, Naruto and the others went to one side of the camp. "Can you leave us?" Naruto asked the boy who quickly nodded, leaving them faster than he could, while Naruto stared at Utakata.
"You know, Utakata... I hate it when people put me in weird situations before talking to me or at least warning me about such things... you know you have fallen a lot in my opinion of you..." Naruto began.
"Please, don't be angry with Utakata-Sensei... He certainly has a good plan!" Hotaru quickly came to her master's defense, while Naruto's companions remained silent, knowing he didn't want anyone speaking for him.
"He's right, Hotaru, I am wrong in putting him here without even talking..." Utakata admitted while looking at Light with an apologetic expression.
"Why do you think I would agree to this madness?" Light asked with a tone of disapproval.
"I didn't intend this at the beginning... but after I saw Hozuki Seijun, I realized they tried to take my power, even though Mei isn't like that..." He spoke before continuing. "I saw how you handled everyone since you met me in the Land of Sea. I know we hardly know each other, but I know I can trust you..." He spoke, but it wasn't just for that reason he brought Naruto into this situation.
'Utakata... I feel he is different... I feel we can trust him!' An inner voice came from within Utakata, it sounded strangely cheerful about it as Utakata heard it all the time these last few days.
"Even so... I didn't agree to any of this." Naruto said and simply turned his back as he entered that tent, Akame and Bones ended up following him leaving Utakata behind.
"Utakata-sensei..." Hotaru looked worried.
"Let them be, they have every right to be angry..." He sighed.
"What will we do?" Akame asked without wasting time.
"I don't know... we didn't imagine being in the middle of a civil war in this country..." Naruto murmured, he really wanted to go fight against that Kage and the man behind him... but entering like this might be right.
"Isn't this a chance to end that man?" Kimimaro asked.
"Yes... but I hate not being in control of the situation, you know our fate can be judged by that woman and those old men, so you better be ready, because they might still try to kill us and if that happens..." Naruto said with a dark tone. "I will destroy them all and make them regret it..." Naruto said with a dangerous tone.
Akame and Kimimaro nodded, and time passed as they rested in their tents, with people continuing to look at them cautiously and suspiciously as they passed near. A meeting seemed quite heated in the main tent.
"Commander Mei, what you are saying is absurd! We cannot let them live after they entered here or even fight alongside us!" One of the older men immediately shouted in opposition to Mei's proposal upon hearing it.
"I agree with him, the best course is to eliminate them and force Utakata to obey us, he has that girl, we can use that!" Hozuki Seijun spoke.
"Are you idiots, by any chance?!" Mei exclaimed, tired of those elders. They were fighting against the bloody mist, but they were using the same modus operandi as their enemy. "Tell me, what is the difference between you and our beloved Mizukage himself? We will not attack Light or Utakata!" Mei stated firmly.
"Light? Wait, did you say Light? The mercenary with thousands of ryō on his head in the bingo book and who destroyed the entire guild of the Water hot country?!" One of the men shouted, alarmed. He had not yet seen the mercenaries who had come with Utakata, so he was unaware of who they were.
"Exactly, it seems some of you don't know who they are, but let me introduce them then." She spoke and threw a bingo book in front of the table.
"This?!" They exclaimed as soon as they saw what was written in the bingo book and what the man whom Seijun threatened had done in the neighboring country.
"He is a Jinchuuriki!!" One of them exclaimed, seeing the explosion he had created.
"We don't know..." Mei commented, despite confirming that Light did not possess chakra, which was quite shocking, either he created some form of hiding his spiritual energy or he was using an unknown power, which scared her more with the second option.
"What shall we do, lord commander?" Someone asked Mei.
"Let's have a vote, whether we will put Light and the others in the war... Attacking them is out of the question, I still need to talk to him, after all, he still didn't seem comfortable with this idea, but we can hire him as a mercenary to assist us. Mizukage has been doing this throughout this entire conflict, bringing men from outside the country to hunt us, why can't we do the same?" Mei said as the others agreed, although many others were reluctant and even frowning at this idea. "And remember, Utakata will only fight on our side if Light is with him... and if we want to enter into conflict, I'm sure he can take at least half of the camp with him, so think carefully about this." She warned and everyone nodded in understanding.
"Now let's begin." Mei spoke as she started the voting.
