Chapter 38 — Aura

Chapter 38 — Aura

"Screw this! I'm outta here!" snapping his eyes open, Jason kicked away the yoga math as he glared hatefully at Dr. Damian.

The 'good doctor ' was currently seated comfortably on one of the sofas, enjoying a tv show latest episode. As for breakfast, Jason didn't even want to think about it.

Not only had he been forced to meditate for hours, he had to endure the loud chewing noises Dr. Damian made while he had lunch and dinner..

And now through the reflection from the glass windows, Jason could tell that the sun was about to set! In all of his seventeen years of being alive, he had never grown this hungry. In the face of the loud rumbling his stomach made, the sound of thunder was nothing..

"How is your progress.. Jason?" Dr. Damian whistled, seemingly completely oblivious to Jason's previous outburst.

"Progress my ass. If you want to starve me, I'm getting out of here!" Jason fumed.

"Is that what you think?" Dr. Damian finally tore his eyes off the tv.

"If you step out from that door, you won't get this opportunity again even if you beg for a century. Your friends will remain wandering souls in the Phantom Plane and you won't be able to avenge the death of your father even if you encountered the culprit responsible.."

Jason who was in the midst of storming off, stopped right on his tracks.

"What the hell did you just say? our deal was that you bring my friends back! why the hell did you think I endured this stupid training regimen of yours?!" Jason screamed at the top of his lungs.

Was this bastard joking with him or what?!

"You heard me.. however since you seem to be having hearing impairment, perhaps a demonstration will be suitable ." Dr. Damian clicked his tongue, sporting an amused smirk as he stood up.

The first step.

Boom!

Jason suddenly felt an invisible but powerful pressure explode from within Dr. Damian, crashing heavily down upon him. His knees almost snapped out of shape as his innards were rattled heavily, causing him to vomit a copious amount of blood.

"W-What the hell?!" Jason stuttered in horror as he activated the Sprite Pupils..

Following the change in his vision, he noticed a that a familiar looking blue flame like energy currently enveloped Dr. Damian from head to toe. However compared to his own, the magnitude of this one was five times more intense.

Second step.

Boom!

The magnitude of the blue flame like energy doubled up. This time, Jason's body couldn't withstand the pressure. His knees snapped out of shape as his face kissed the ground. However under the crushing weight of this invisible pressure, even more parts of his body were getting crushed with every second that passed.

However just when Jason thought he was going to die, the blue flame like energy around Dr. Damian suddenly disappeared, causing the crushing weight of the invisible pressure to disappear as well.

"Ah. Ah. Ah" if not for the ragged sound of his heavy breathing, his sweat soaked shirt and his broken leg, he might've concluded that all what he just experienced was just a crazy hallucination.

"I had barely done anything and you were already crushed out of shape" Dr. Damian appeared in front of Jason, clicking his tongue in disappointment.

"W-What.. the hell was that?" Jason weakly forced out this question before his vision darkened.

.

.

When Jason's regained consciousness, the first thing he anticipated was the excruciating pain that came with broken bones. However contrary to his expectations, he noticed his body rather felt chilly.. in a comfortable manner.

Casting his eyes around, he noticed he was currently laying back flat on a bench within a gazebo surrounded by greenery.

"That took you long enough" Dr. Damian chuckled upon noticing Jason's body movement.

"What the hell did --argh!" Jason's was about to jolt up when he suddenly felt a piercing pain from his right knee cap.

"Careful now. Although my Initials begin with Doctor, I rather suck at any of the Healing type Tensei Genkais. You better watch your movement for the time being or your whole body is going to crumble. With a weak body such as yours,,I can barely use the tiniest unit of my psyplasm to heal you without causing you any serious harm "

"T-This. This is crazy!" Jason's rolled his eyes..

Unfortunately, he was too stressed, confused and pissed to faint.

"I must commend you Jason boy. You were able to last for about five seconds.. that's pretty impressive world Guinness book of record.."

"Is this your idea of your joke? what the hell is really happening here?!" Jason demanded with a sharp hiss.

"You said you'd rather embark on a fools errand than meditate, like I instructed you to" Dr. Damian inhaled sharply before he continued.

"I just put on a little performance to show you just how insignificant you are.. back at the mansion, I unleashed my Aura on you" Dr. Damian explained calmly, however each one of his words were like sharp knives obliterating Jason's inflated ego

"A-Aura? forgetting the fact that I have no idea what that means, don't think your underhanded Tennessee mind games genki is going to change anything.."

"It's actually called --" Dr. Damian tried correcting when Jason cut him off abruptly.

"Tensei Genkai.. I know.. get a clue idiot, I was just trying to troll you " he rolled his eyes with a scoff.

"Aura is basically the manifested pressure from energy that is projected outward.. think of it like an egg.. an egg has a shell and the main deal.. the Aura is the shell.."

"However to manifest Aura requires an expert level of energy control. The denser the Aura, the more powerful the user. However in real combat, Aura won't prove that much useful. However one of the basic use of Aura is to put pressure on weaker opponents and.. knock them out if possible "

Jason huffed. The other party was intentionally trying to provoke him, however he curiously decided to pay attention. Clicking his tongue in disappointment, Dr. Damian continued..

"Kid, how well do your know the Mystique World?"

"Eh?" Jason wasn't expecting this sudden strange question.

"Well, there are Malevolents, Yokais and Angels.. however honestly I don't believe Angels exist. "

"Then you are a fool. The knowledge I am about to share with you is something that only a select few are privy about, however as Reapers it is customary knowledge.." Dr. Damian dramatically lowered the pitch of his voice.

"Ranking at the bottom are the Yokais, followed by the Malevolents, then the gods. The next two are the most controversial amongst the list. . The Angels and the Demons. The Angels are a bunch of condescending folks considering they are the oldest of all the races as such they claim to be superior to their Demon counterparts. However one interesting fact is that a majority of the most powerful Demons were once Angels who got banished and were corrupted by their so called 'Holy Mother' granting them power beyond what they could ever imagine so in common sense the Demons take a superior position over the Angels. However seated firmly at the first position are the Empryeans. . According to records at the Soul Council, the Empryeans were so powerful that they were dubbed as the harbingers of the Armageddon; AKA the end of the world --"

"Were? judging by the use of the past tense means they dead. Aren't you over exaggerating?" Jason knitted his brows in skeptism.

"Hmpfh. What do you know? during the first Armageddon, it took the combined forces of the gods, Angels and Demons to deal with them, so I'd rather watch what I say with my lips if I were you "

Jason fell silent. Judging from the seriousness in Dr. Damian's tone just now, he could tell that whatever this first Armageddon was, it was far from simple.

"Wait a minute.. what about you Reapers and Malevolents, why didn't you participate?"

"That's a question for another day. However my point is. with your current strength, you won't even be able to go up against the weakest demon, talk less of one with a nobility seat.."

"What do you mean? maybe the demon that killed my father was a weak level one"

"No. If you really thought that, then you're already digging an early grave. What the hell is even wrong with you Mystique Hunters? compared to we Reapers you lot are no more than barbarians with zero knowledge. Don't you check out your history books once in a while?" Dr Damian huffed in bafflement..

"You seem very confident. How do you know that?" Jason squinted his brows like a suspicious detective..

"That's because the gates of the Demon realm is currently shut close. Although low level Demons can squeeze their way through, those with a nobility seat are different. With the vast amount of power they possess, they cannot squeeze their way through the closed gates and interact with the other Planes except by possession. In the presence of the weakest Demon with a nobility seat, forget a weakling like you, not even me have a hundred percent guarantee of coming out on top. I'd be extremely lucky if I can escape with my life. That's just how terrifying they are!" the dread in Dr. Damian's eyes were unconcealable.

Jason could tell the other party wasn't faking, this stunned him even more. Why would such a terrifying figure such as that target his father? a normal human capital venture CEO and capitalist?!

"Forgetting that, there's also the matter regarding your deceased friends. If you want to bring them back to life, you'd have to steal their souls from the Phantom Plane, however with how weak the current you is, it would be a miracle ic you'd be able to survive the Phantom Plane Fifteen seconds before your physical body deteriorates and you become a 'Reaped' soul like them"

"If you want to accomplish either of these two goals, you'd need one thing.. power.. and I am here to give you that.. however if would depend on you whether you are ready or not"
