Chapter 279

After escaping the clutches of the Seven Kingsguards, Marie broke off into a sprint... well more like a winged sprint..

Passing through a winding long passageway, she suddenly came across Lady Beelar who was just about to enter a chamber at her left.

"You!!" Lady Beelar hooted icily as soon as she saw Marie.

"Bitch!" Marie hissed as she arrived before the other party, sending a palm strike towards her ugly insect face.

"Hmpfh. Nobody is going to protect your now" Lady Beelar's wings flapped as she easily dodged Marie's palm strike, appearing behind her as a sharp stinger pierced towards the back of Marie's neck.

"Hmpfh" Marie merely sneered as the earlier palm strike changed into an eagle claw strike.

Twisting her waist like an agile serpent, Marie easily switched from her earlier trajectory, grabbing one of the wings of Lady Beelar as she gave it a powerful pull.

"How dare you touch my pretty wings?!!"

To Marie's surprise, her tug wasn't able to rip out the wings of the other party. Clicking her tongue regretfully, her lightning wings glowed brilliantly as she vanished, appearing many meters ahead.

Escaping this castle was her number priority. The only reason why she attacked earlier was to teach the other party a lesson by pulling off one of her wings. When that failed, she didn't bother tangling with her any longer.

A few moments after Marie left, one of the Seven Kingsguards from earlier arrived besides Lady Beelar, his eyes scanning around vigilantly.

"Lady Beelar, have you seen that previously captured Human lady?" he asked her after seeing no sign of Marie.

"You mean the ugly hag? she attacked me however after scaring her off, she fled like a miserable old wench" the antennas of Lady Beelar swayed.

"What direction did she go?" the Kingsguard asked urgently.

"That way" Lady Beelar pointed towards the direction Marie took.

The wheels of seven wagons slowly trodded across the rocky surface of a road path. A large swath of flies seemed to be acting as entourages for these wagons as they buzzed happily.

After minutes of a silent travel, the seven wagons finally arrived at before a large gate. If Marie was present, her eyes would start shining like the most brilliant stars because this huge gate was literally a treasure trove in the outside world. Seventy percent of the gate was made out of Purple Willow wood, twenty percent was made out of reinforced Silarian steel and the remaining ten percent were finely cut genesis orbs that were scattered around the huge gate.

Whether it was the Purple Willow wood or the reinforced Silarian steel, they were top notch treasures in Nightshade Kingdom. The amount of them used to craft this towering gate was enough to make two Noble households wage war against each other.

As for the genesis orbs, they were relics that were basically extinct to the regular folks. The only genesis orbs in existence could only be found in the Capital City of Nightshade Kingdom and was already crafted into the Imperial Throne of the reigning king. Not even the four Dukes possessed one

Rumors had it that genesis orbs were rare relics that could aid in the comprehension of Arcane. However this rumor was only known to the upper echelons amongst the Noble Households.

Yet these rare relics were forged into an entrance gate. It could be seen how deep the heritage of the Winged Panda Men ran. Unfortunately although they had this wealth, it wasn't enough to fix the broken cosmic laws of their Hidden Realm.

Just as the seven wagons were inching near the towering gate, a powerful snort suddenly rang out. It was like the rumbling of thunder.

"Halt!"

A large beast suddenly blocked the path of the seven wagons. Although it was a Winged Scorpion Beedozer, the previous one ridden by the Azure Ranger the Blood Dragon Legion encountered was like a toddler when compared to it. The seven wagons were like insects in the presence of this particular Winged Scorpion Beedozer.

It was like a single sneeze from it could blast the seven wagons into smithereens.

From within one of the seven wagons, Aiden suddenly stiffened as he received a notification from the system.

—[Danger!]

"I wonder what a Kingsguard of the King would be doing occupying the little post of the city gate watchman?" the lead Wagon driver commented with disbelief when he saw the person riding the powerful Winged Scorpion Beedozer.

It was actually a Kingsguard!

"Are you questioning the judgement of the King?!' the Kingsguard suddenly released another powerful snort, causing blood to trickle out from the nose of the lead Wagon driver.

"I dare not!' the other party whimpered as he bowed his head subserviently.

"Better..." the Kingsguard snorted as he dropped down from his mount.

Waving his hand, a series of runic symbols weaved across the air, merging into a runic row of stairs which he slowly descended before they vanished into thin air.

"The King has cause to believe that there is a coup in place, as such the whole Capital City is under strict surveillance. Anything that goes in or out must be strictly inspected. To improve the efficiency, I as a Kingsguard of the King was tasked to lead the City watch" the Kingsguard smirked arrogantly.

"So start offloading the goods for inspection" he demanded sharply.

"That.." the lead Wagon driver gulped nervously as he rubbed both sweaty palms against each other.

"The wagon is stocked full with dead corpses that will serve as food for the Army. Offloading them here isn't.."

"Shut up" the Kingsguard icily cut the other party off.

"You say the corpses are the food for the army? that is enough reason for it to be strictly inspected. If somebody somehow poisons those corpses the many valiant soldiers in the army would be affected. That would give those usurpers the galls to carry on with their nefarious schemes. So unless you are hiding something, start offloading the items in those wagons for inspection " the Kingsguard smirked as he calmly folded his arms on his chest.

As for his giant mount behind him, it was starting to hiss impatiently. The atmosphere immediately became tensed as cold sweat slid down the backs of the Seven wagon drivers.

If it was another day, they wouldn't mind doing as they were told, however today was different!

Although they were carrying corpses of dead Feind beasts, that was all just a cover. Their main goal was to smuggle in the main usurpers themselves.

If they were caught in the act, that would spell certain death. They could neither advance nor retreat. Seeing the looks of hesitation, the Kingsguard sneered as he silently sent out a secret emergency signal that only Kingsguards like him could use.

"If I didn't know any better, I would suspect that you lot are smuggling something illegal.. you are not doing that now are you? after all you seven know the penalty for treason" he stared sharply at the seven Wagon drivers.

"Of course.. we are just distributing raw meat for the army's nutrition" one of the Wagon drivers replied in a stutter.

"Hmm.. that good. After all the Prince and his escorts caught a Human lady snooping around. They think she is aligned with that traitor named Eragon and there are going to hold a public execution once the sun is up. It would be a shame to join in her punishment "

When Aiden heard the words of the other party through the System in built translation, his eyes immediately transformed into a shade of blood red, filled with immense rage.

"They have Marie?!!"
