It’s Time for a Quest

“I’m alive! And I feel different. Why is that?” NAVI asks.

“Ow! dying always hurts. NAVI you look a little smoky,” Swaggle says.

“I do, am I still on fire?” NAVI asks.

“No, just a little hazy looking,” Delphi says walking into the core room.

“Yes I can and will answer that. Kelvin proclaims.

“You see it’s simple, I changed your species or subspecies,”

“Wait, why?” NAVI asks.

“Well you were a forest faerie which does not live in dungeons and evolved from dungeon faeries known as Willow O’l Wisp’s. Which is what you are now since you are bound to a dungeon. Don’t be upset, forest faeries magic is quite useless for your purposes of revenge and bloodlust,” Kelvin says.

“How, if I may ask,” NAVI asks.

“Well the magic you had was minor illusion magic and some kind magic to talk to plants. You can still get the minor illusion magic back with some work but otherwise you have natural attack magic and some buff or debuff magic meaning like dungeon monsters you are now meant to kill,”

“Oh I see, so i’m a badass now awesome,” NAVI says while changing a myriad of colours.

“Great creator you said you wanted to speak to us,” Hooknose says.

“You were most excited upstairs,” Bobbi says.

“Yes, so far you have been most successful in making me more powerful and not having this dungeon being made a mess. you even brought back loot and very valuable information,” Kelvin says.

“Yes we killed many adventurers for you!” Swaggle yells.

“Hmmm… many I think maybe five ex adventurers I will have to look at the log and data again but still yes you have done well,” Kelvin says.

“Wait, I'm confused. We killed a lot more than five or six, great creator,” Delphi says.

“Yes but most of what's in my logs are bandits so moving on,” Kelvin says.

“What’s a bandit?” Bobbi asks.

Upon hearing this question Kelvin realised something very important: dungeon monsters know what adventurers are because they come into the dungeon even if a bandit wanders in it might as well be an adventure. Thus he had sent his creations out without any knowledge of what they were and they could kill indiscriminately.

“It seems you all are missing some fundamental information that is crucial to my goals and survival. So all of you sit down, make yourselves comfy and listen and ask questions when needed.

First off there are generally three main races: Elves, Dwarves and Humans. These three usually always have sumpracy over others. If there are others, probably because they have the most gods these races live in societies with cities and have jobs.

“What are jobs?” Hooknose asks.

“I’m getting to that, jobs are a lot of things like cooks, farmers, bakers, and of course adventurers. An adventurer's job is to gain power equal to that of a monster to fight them, protect these cities, and go into dungeons and take treasures from them,”

“Then what are bandits?” Bobbi asks.

“Bandits, well they are a kind of job that nobody likes. It's kind of like becoming a monster but without gaining power,”

“I see,” Swaggle says while scratching his horns.

“Now it’s important that you kill adventurers, they are a neutral party in the eyes of dungeons, gods and death. It's just monsters killing monsters the same as you killing bandits. But if you go and raze a town and the consequences come back to me. There is a big difference between wild monsters and dungeon monsters. So kill them without notice or in other dungeons. As for how to tell them apart you must hunt your prey and learn. Any questions?”

“What were you so excited about earlier?” Delphi asks.

“Ah yes, getting back to the original topic I gained a unique ability,” Kelvin says.

“Which is?” Swaggle asks excitedly.

“The ability to give out quests. Yes I know you all thought I was amazing before and I just said something that blew your minds,” Kelvin says.

“I’m confused, didn't you already give us a quest to go and kill adventurers?” Delphi says.

“Yeah I'm not seeing the big deal on this one great creator,” Hooknose says.

“No comment,” Bobbi says, shaking her head.

Swaggle and NAVI just look at each other puzzled and confused.

“Huh, I technically gave out a quest to go out but that was more do it or else. Quests have rewards like items or gold. I've never heard of a dungeon giving out one and I can’t control the reward section so mystery prizes! So do you ingrates see how great I am now?” Kelvin asks.

“Of course,” They all answer in unison.

“For your first quest, you all brought back some maps, and after I absorbed them I gained knowledge of the outside world. Which means you all gained knowledge of the outside world. With what we gained we can see The Lonely Plains where our dungeon is in the Lost Woods where you killed those bandits and to the west a small town called Glenville. Now what's really interesting is if you go back to that fort and think about it I will know where it is like marking it on a map,” Kelvin says.

“That's amazing,” NAVI says.

“Yes, it is, so first quest,”

“Right as for your next quest well you already know it but it’s official now,”

“Right we understand completely and if some of us don’t I will get a migraine making them understand,” Hooknose says looking at Swaggle.

Bobbi silently agrees, bobbing her head up and down while Delphi just looks around.

“So we go now?” Swaggle asks.

“Not yet. You all got stronger and you need new equipment. What Hooknose is wearing will be his but I need to resize, make it cooler and enchant it. And you all need to take a look at your new abilities and practice with them in my new training room on the second floor. So you all can leave some time tomorrow. So off you go to train,”
