As Hooknose climbs up the carriage to rip off the door, a plump face pops out the window surprising him, knocking him off the step.
“Wait, I'm sure we can come to terms!” Tobias yells. As Tobias looks around fear and dread fill his mind as he sees nothing but monsters surrounding him and his goods till he glances down.
“Oh, I was really worried there for a second. I thought I was talking to nothing but wild monsters when I looked around, but then I saw you master dwarf,” Tobias says.
“Huh?” Hooknose says in confusion.
“If i'm correct, judging by your armour you must be a master smith and as strong as you are you must be an adventurer too!” Tobias says.
Hooknose stands up quickly and says. “Right, master smith dwarf, you are indeed correct but I am not an adventurer,”
“May I ask about your monsters?” Tobias asks, stepping out of the carriage.
“Umm… Yes, my master Kelvin created them. They and I do his bidding in fulfilling his interest in the outside world,” Hooknose says.
“Hey, call him the great creator, using his name is asking for trouble,” Bobbi yells.
“What fine specimens this Kelvin has summoned, he must be quite the warlock just look at this Skeletons bone structure and how it is naturally armored,” Tobias says.
“Yeah Delphi is pretty bulky and cool,” NAVI says.
“Oh my is that a fairy without a containment jar in the open, forget good i've never heard of this. This Kelvin must be one of the best if not the best warlock to ever exist. What country does he serve?” Tobias asks.
“Our great creator doesn’t serve anyone; he does what he wants when he wants,” Swaggle chides.
“I’m afraid if you pry into this anymore we will have to kill you so please talk about something else,” Delphi warns.
“Right well just one last thing, why hasnt anyone around here heard of this Kelvin before or seen you before?” Tobias asks.
“Our master is a recluse and doesn't see the point of leaving or sending us unless absolutely necessary,” Hooknose says.
“I see, I see…. Is there anyway I can convince you to escort me to my destination, the town of Nervil? I would also like to have you meet the adventurers guild master,” Tobias says.
“What for?” Hooknose asks.
“Well a master smith dwarf isn't seen very often but your case is even rarer. Plus you said you aren't an adventurer which means you are classless with all that power you have,” Tobias says.
At those words a plan formed in Hooknoses head a very evil greedy plan.
“One second if you please I need to speak to my traveling companions,” Hooknose says.
This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.
“Yes of course I need to check on my clerk anyways,” Tobias says.
Hooknose walks some distance from the carriage signaling everyone to follow him.
“Alright everyone huddle up and keep quiet,” Hooknose says.
“Hey, I'm in charge,” Delphi says.
“Will you listen? I have a plan that will serve the great creator,” Hooknose says.
“Oh so now he is the great creator,” Bobbi interrupts.
“Will you all please let me finish then gripe and whine….. Thank you. As you can see I have been mistaken for one of their races because they can’t see any part of me and this armour was looted and upgraded. So calling the great creator by name was the logical choice for the ruse. As for my plan we are going to be adventurers,” Hooknose says.
“I’m confused, is your plan for us to kill ourselves?” Swaggle asks.
“I’m also at a loss, intrigued, But at a loss, where are you going with this,” Delphi says.
“I get it, but you better ask for forgiveness from the great creator next time you see him and be prepared to die,” Bobbi says.
“I’m with Swaggle on this one,” NAVI says.
“There are two merits from what I just gathered: one we get more powerful meaning the great creator gets more powerful and we get whatever a class is. Two, what better way to hunt our prey than being able to walk among them. We could find the best ambush spots and where those other dungeons are to kill them in,” Hooknose says.
“Oh I see I like this plan,” Delphi says.
“The only thing Delphi, clearly in front of them, I gotta be in charge,” Hooknose says.
“I like this plan a lot less now,” Delphi says.
“Hey what's more important, you being in charge all the time or our quests?” Hooknose asks.
“Dammit your right and I hate that but as soon as we are alone remember who is the boss monster,” Delphi says.
“I know,” Hooknose says in a comforting tone.
“Is everything okay?” Tobias asks nervously.
“Yes everything is fine in fact we are going to escort you to Nervil,” Hooknose responds.
“Wonderful, just wonderful. See Clark everything works out in the end,” Tobias says.
“Yes sir. What do we do with the dead guards?” Clark asks.
“Hmmm… good question. It would seem we are in luck; those two bandits look to be alive, so us showing up with just dead bodies and new guards won’t look fishy. My new friends, can you put these bodies in your wagon up there?” Tobias asks.
“Sure I will go get it now,” Swaggle says with excitement.
“That voice sounds familiar,” Tobias says.
“It should, you were just arguing with him moments ago and trust me it never will leave your head,” Delphi says.
“Right, let's tie these two up and load up the corpses so we can go,” Hooknose orders.
“I have a question,” Bobbi says.
“And what's that?” Hooknose asks.
“There are three wagons, ours, the one with all the loot, and the big one with the owner of the loot. Who is gonna drive all of them?” Bobbi asks.
“Oh I didn't think about that problem. Well what are we to do, ummm, actually what is your name good dwarf?” Tobias asks.
“Huh, oh, my name is Hooknose. Thats Bobbi and Delphi and the really annoying one is Swaggle oh yeah and the ball of light is NAVI. As for what we are gonna do we are gonna leave the big one behind and only take the two wagons,” Hooknose says.
“Excuse me but that seems rather unreasonable, all my clothes and comforts...” Tobias begins to whine.
“Look, it looks like you had enough men to protect these, and had two drivers. But you value your life and whats in that wagon because it’s your lively hood. I need you two to drive that wagon while we protect you. If we are all driving we won’t be able to react to anything. With this only one of us will be driving our wagon and the rest of us will be on guard duty. As for your clothes put them in this wagon,” Hooknose says.
“I concede your point master Hooknose. Clark, begin moving our things,”
