CH 27: KILL ONE CRAZY AND TWO WILL COME

Looking at her head flying in the sky and her body slumping on the ground, Azrael couldn't help but feel sick. There was nothing he wished more than simply kneeling down and barf, but he couldn't.

'Not yet. I still need to hold on.'

Right now, it wasn't just his feeling of disgust that was threatening to overwhelm him, this balance breaker was also putting an enormous burden on him.

Even now, his organs were churning, as if he was being boiled inside. He could feel blood flow from his nose and his mouth. Still, this wasn't important now. He had to act fast.

He bowed toward the corpse of Eleanor,

"I pray for your soul to rest in peace."

Once he finished, he turned around and began to walk toward the man named Seijiro. He was so tired that even simply walking seemed like a chore. His energy reserve was rather low right now.

{How long did I take?}

{4 minutes}

{I see.}

A little off. He needed to act faster. He began to accelerate his pace until finally reaching the place where Seijiro was sprawled. As he walked, the armor slowly began to dissipate until all that was left was a black spear in his hand.

Since Azrael deactivated his balance breaker, the chains that were binding Seijiro also vanished alongside it. Still, seeing Azrael coming toward him, he could not muster the slightest feeling of resistance and thought that his end was coming.

He opened his mouth, a begging light in his eyes as he kneeled.

"I beg you, spare me. I promise to do everything you want."

Many people would begrudge him for acting like that.

Where is your honor?

Why don't you try fighting back?

Azrael though didn't think so. In the end, the one alive was the winner. Azrael didn't think that honor was more important than life. But he didn't think that those who protected their honor at the cost of their life were idiots either. The simple truth was, everyone had different priorities in life. There was no good or bad one.

He sighed and said,

"Listen to me. As long as you answer to all my questions, I will not kill you. Do not forget, even though I am only half, I am still an angel. We can feel it when humans are lying."

He wasn't lying. Killing someone begging for his life would leave a bad taste but it wasn't really the principal reason. He needed someone to answer some of his questions. After doing so he would simply send him to the prison in one of the nearby churches.

The same went for him being able to detect a lie. Angels could feel all the past sins of a human. As a half, he didn't have such a sensibility, but he could still feel when humans lied in front of him.

As for simply using the talisman and teleporting with this guy in order to have all the time to interrogate him?

He couldn't or rather he could, but he didn't want to. Too many risks were involved. The talisman was connected to a place. More precisely, a top-secret place. He didn't know just how many curses and spying magic was on this guy. If he teleported with him to that place, the coordinates of that place might be leaked to the Wizards of Oz. He might be a little paranoid, but you simply couldn't gamble with those kinds of things.

Seijiro hurriedly nodded,

"I will tell you everything."

Azrael didn't waste time and began

"I will do this fast then. Firstly, who are you? "

"Shinra Seijoro."

"Shinra? From the five principal clans? ….I see...You must be an outcast?"

It was simply impossible for the five principal clans to try to attack him. At least not this openly. So the only result was possible was him being an outcast.

"Next question. Are you the sole outcast in collaboration with the Wizards of Oz or are there others working with them?"

Seijiro hesitated a little before finally gritting his teeth then answered,

"I am a member of the Utsusemi. An organization gathering all the outcasts. The leader of our group is Hanezu Himejima and decided to make an alliance with Oz recently."

'This is big. Very big. But not really my problem.'

"I was your target, right? How did you know I was in kuoh town?"

"Your whereabouts were leaked by a member of the church."

"...I see…"

He couldn't help but frown.

'As I thought, it was really the work of a traitor. Shit.'

"Final questions. Why did you want to kidnap me? and who gave that order."

It was the most important question for him, but the moment he posed it, his look slightly shifted, as he slowly put his hand in his robe.

Seijiro didn't notice those subtle movements and began to answer,

"The one who wanted to was…*Ugh* *Gurgle*"

But, the moment he was about to finish his answer, a magic circle suddenly appeared on him and he seized his chest with pain wrote all over his face, as blood began to flow from his lips in large quantity, finally, with a look of disbelief,

'Am I going to die like that?'

Those were his last thoughts, he died after his heart ceased to beat.

Azrael watched this development with a frown but no surprise visible on his face, after all, he already foresaw it.

"Tch tch tch. So boring. I even patiently waited for the best moment to kill him."

A young voice sounded from high in the sky. Azrael raised his head and looked at this direction,

"OH!!! I couldn't see your face previously, but now that I see it you're sooo handsome. Also a little older. Hum…. Should I call you Onii-chan? or rather handsome?"

There, a young girl wearing red and black gothic clothes as well as a pointed hat could be seen sitting on a broom high in the sky.

'A witch'

She fulfilled the perfect definition of the word witch.

Seeing her, he understood that the situation was worsening, so he tried to activate his talisman, but,

"I cannot stop you from fleeing, but if you do so, all the people living in this town will be reduced to ash."

An old voice stopped him from doing so. The moment this voice resonated in his mind, an incredible pressure immediately followed. Azrael could feel it in his blood.

'I am unable to win.'

Now, how would he escape from this situation?
